The 335d is a 3 litre twin turbo diesel if you knew anything about bmw diesels you would know that. The 3 series may only have 280bhp (70 less than the 850csi) but its got 430 ft lbs of torque which is alot more than any N/A BMW V12 to date. Dont forget the 3 series has a modern day paddle shift gearbox

it seems that no one here knows a lot for the 335d...and everyone underestimate it....get one and tune it from an autologic user...its the only dealer level support you can get and they have awesome tunes.....after that you will never want to change your car and buy a new one or the f01 f02....:)

As I said before, it depends on whether you want a shopping car that will never be anything (335D) or you want a GT car that is very special.
The 335D will never be anything, it won't be remembered in 20 years time, the only reason you might have one instead of an 850csi is if you couldn't afford to keep an 850csi.
The 335D is absolutely nothing and as about as special or unique as a fluorescent tube is to the lighting industry.

Yes, there are less 850CSi's on the roads and yes it was a special car many years ago. Still is. However, 335d is just as fast, handles better, looks better (as I said - it's subjective), consumes much less, is a pleasure to drive, is more practical and is a better all around car. Everybody has his/her priorities and chooses the car that meets his/her needs best.
@edo888LT IMO 850csi looks better, but only because im an e31 fan. but ed888lt is right, different people different opinions. i know people who think the 8 series are ugly. the e92's335 are aggressive looking and really nice. i even like the e90's and want a e91 wagon just because they look great stock and can look even better with a few things done to it.

Both very nice cars, but i like the older E31 850CSI, thats a legendary car.
The M under de 8 serie, very exclusive car, the 3 serie is just a normal car.
But this one has a very nice diesel!
