  • Dare I say it? This version is actualy better than the original. Or maybe just clearer and better quality...

  • @Accolonian Thanks so much! It was a LABOR OF LOVE....

  • Sure... beyond "imaginable" Michelle is a GS "doppleganger!" So delightfully retro awesome!!

  • @TubeChop Thank You for commenting! This was so much fun!!!

  • GREAT JOB ! FORGET THE CRITICS, GRACE always gave them SHIT!

  • Man, some of you folks on her are so disrespectful; while I agree the wardrobe could have been a bit more flattering, let's appreciate the lovely vocal rendition of an awesome song. Just close your eyes and imagine!

  • Awesome job Michelle~!

  • Michelle then go to Furpeace Ranch and Maybe Jorma can use a backup singer on the next CD...don't do the Airplane songs for him tho! old blues/spirituals are better for his tastes... Blue Prelude!

  • @johnnyblack1974 Thanks so much....It was just such a great experience for me...Cos Grace was my Muse and continues to be my number one inspiration as a singer. They dont get any more real than the Voice that Launched a Thousand trips...

    Michelle

  • fyi. and all seriousness aside (lol)....the silly outfit they plopped her in, including the ill-fitting jeans and wig, were yanked at the last minute from wardrobe, the hokey show's idea of what "Grace would wear" (hippie clothes?). And the "quiet band" are just dancers the TV show provided, fake-playing to tracks.

As for the "tremulocity" (lol), most here have yapped that Michelle did not go far ENOUGH there, to match Grace's original version. LOL.

  • The band is too quiet and cautious.

Michelle has fat thighs, and approaches the song in a cautious, formulaic way.

@ 1:29 - 1:30, Michelle's pose is unflattering to her fat thighs. No feminine poise, just a slouchy tomboy approach. I'd have suggested a dress, but Michelle probably doesn't shave her legs.

@ 0:54, 1:02, 1:23, and 1:30 her tremulous vocals are reminiscent of the Cowardly Lion's.

    Michelle's got pretty hefty thighs.

  • @FuckngBastard LOL...This is great. I am ROFLMAO...Thanks for your input.

  • Who ever hit the dislike must be batshit crazy or deaf!

  • OMG OMG OMG ARE YOU GRACE OR WHAT WOW I LOVE LOVE LOVE THIS AND DAMN YOU KNOW YOUR ARE PLANE FOR SURE MY FRIEND:)))))

  • @itsJoanfuckingJett She is so beautiful---so I will take that compliment

  • holy fuck that was perfect

  • THANK YOU SO MUCH xoxox

    Michelle

  • @ac7491 Thank you so much for you Awesome comment.... :-)

  • Great Job!!!!

  • Pretty good Michelle

  • @oudzuidNL Appreciate your comments!

  • Go see Paul Kantner in SF ...he can use you.

  • @Jimala3 I tried to contact their manager Michael Gaiman, and He kinda just blew me off-I dont think he ever checked out my video.

    But thanks for the thought!!!

  • Fantastic job! You're the only one I have ever heard cover this song and it be worth listening to. Very nice michelle. I hope Grace has seen this.

  • @slowgood Thanks...I gave Grace a copy of this when I met her at an art gallery showing. she is awesome and will always be the standard bearer for all female rock singers to come

  • Would be OK if I hadn't heard Grace Slick sing it.

  • @grhaffdd Thanks for taking the time to post...No one can compare to Grace. This is just my tribute to her and the influence she made on my life

  • go chase some WABBITS, said Elmer Fudd

  • @mdf1951 Hahahaha. good one!

    :-)

  • GREAT job, Mama !!!!! :)

  • (continued) I don't care about the venue or the tie-dye. Winterhk, you absolutely nailed it. It shows that you love this song and you sang it with heart. It's a great performance. Thank you.

  • (continued) Grace's voice is pleading, commanding, soaring, sincere, emotive, leading a march to get the listener just enough out of their gray life to glimpse a world of one's imagination. This is why I think this song will be timeless. Anytime someone feels crushed by the uncaring, the ordinary, the imaginationless, Grace's song will always be there to call up a primal need for fantasy.

  • In Grace's autobiography, she said that just before writing that song, she listened to Miles Davis and Gil Evans' "Sketches of Spain" 50 times in a row. "Sketches of Spain" is a free-form, serene melody played over a bolero march. The band gave White Rabbit more rock drive, but the bolero-style march is still in it, and her voice gave the melody an intense flow like you get in Sketches of Spain. What I'm trying to say is that a sincere rendition of this song will bring out it's power.

  • Hi All:

I just performed this song with my acoustic band CuppaJoe at an outdoor event.

You can see the clip by going to

You Tube and searching : WHITE RABBIT CUPPAJOE

Sorry I cant paste the link here...

    Michelle

  • This is incredible! I would give anything to be able to sing ONLY this song.

  • This is a fantastic perfomance Michelle. Voice, looks and that little attitude is an incredible match to Grace Slick for a tough song to sing the way she used to perform it.

  • @22bucket Thanks so much for your post. When I do this song, I kinda feel like I am becoming Grace for a few minutes...I try and imagine how she would work the song and the way she would feel singing it. Its just strange---cos its like I kind of "channel" her---then I just become me again----whatever that is!

  • @wynterhk ..I think, I'll pick my jaw up right about now...I've seen JA, JS and about 20 something times, .. and you nailed it .. Don't know how much time was spent in getting this to this point, but worth every second.. wow.

  • I don't know this show at all but I read somewhere that you did not win? Was someone an asshole like Simon Cowell? Or was this show rigged like I suspect American Idol is? It's great to see pure talent these days as I wonder how the likes of Lindsay Lohan, Britney Spears, Paris Hilton, Nichole Ritchie and the rest of that "Bratpack" got famous? What are they famous for anyway? Anybody know? YOU! should be famous! You know what? You are! 33,493 hits so far is not bad at all!

  • @MsSemiautomatic Thank You sooooo much. It is comments like this that make it all worthwhile. Grace has always been my number one influence---and this was the very first song I ever did in public--a long time ago---So the approval of my peers is sweet indeed.

  • @MsSemiautomatic To answer your question...it WAS a competition---but with no judges. the audience did the Clap-o-meter thing. Pretty lame, especially when whoever brought the most people were the ones that won!

My night, the winner was 'Frank Sinatra" with New York New York...

Now how ya gonna beat that one???? I mean, its FRANK.... :-)

  • Dear Michelle,

Best imitation of Grace Slick's White Rabbit! This is not easy to do. I have seen the others, they suck! And you have her looks and mannerisms down packed!

  • @MsSemiautomatic ---When I first tackled this song as a kid, it was my "goal" to do it right...It was extremely challenging. The song keeps climbing the scale...I worked my ass off for many years to try and get it right...so THANK YOU

    Michelle

  • @wynterhk hey michelle i liked it much. im a big airplane fan but bc of mostly jack and jorma's playing. however i do like grace, marty, spencer and paul. the really like grace singing this with great society. the 4 minute intro is hypnotic. any thoughts? also i read that grace has contralto voice. not a big music theory person. what contralto really mean? HOw does your natural voice range

    Michelle

  • @wynterhk Oh it's true. You look and sound like her and yet have your own style. The band is great too.

  • Fuck you asshole

  • I sing this better at karaoke and I'm a man! This sounds like Jim Carey.

  • @POBulkhead

You sound like Grace? and she sounds like Jim Carey? Well, since it's obvious your friends are afraid to tell you, I will. Bulkhead, you've put it off for FAR too long now. Your friends are tired of shouting everything at you. It's time for you to get that hearing aid. (and they REALLY wish you'd stop singing!)

  • @JKRedondo Leave the guy alone alright! Let him enjoy his drugs and his grand illusions!

  • What fags gave this a thumbs down? This is exactly like the original!

  • I just HAD to add..Grace wasn't exactly a tie-dyed T-shirt kinda gal, but I get it!

  • @chinzebo

For sure! You know your Grace. The TV producers wanted to say "Hippie" and so thats their idea of what Grace would wear...

  • Looks like her too! Great job..Thx for posting...

  • OMG amazing!!

gave me the same goosebumps as the original, which is pretty incredible

  • Hi Michelle! Yes I like comin back to me, I really like the rhythm and sound that they had for it. Kind of a strange sound! 60s sound for sure. We have strom warnings here in indpls, I'll be so happy when spring comes! Plenty of time for guitar, thank GOD for music!! Kevin

  • What do think about the song, comin back to me? Just got through watching you do white rabbit! Do you still sing it? Don't you wish we could go back ten years, that would sure be nice.

  • I like the song, comen back to me!! Really great song. It's put together very nice! Iam going to put a little lead to it, sound like some crazy cords, lots and lots of reverb on it

  • She just has a way about her!

  • **Blushing**

  • Somebody who sounds just like Grace Slick, and looks like her to! Does Really nice job of it. She is ten years older now, so am I. Nothing we can do about that. It would be nice to do that song though! Nothing wrong with dreaming though.

  • Thanks....I love her too....

    xoxo

    Michelle

  • Who is this Michelle anyways?

  • Michelle is actually wynterhk. Also that's actually her in the video here in 10 years back.

  • Michelle, is this the only song you do? I would like to hear others. I watch this rabbit song every day, I really like this song! It brings back the good old days. I learned this song on the guitar today, easy to play! I added a little extra lead to it, love the way you do it. Do you still sing this song?

  • The crowd sucked, the band sucked, but she went alright!

  • Actually, a lot of applause ws dubbed as they do on TV shows! and the band wasnt even a band...they were dancers hired to look like a band...The music was a track but I WAS SINGING LIVE....

  • I thought that was the original most of the song it was that good. What a voice!

  • Thanks Mie

I have always admird the voice of Grace Slick and her cool vibe

  • I love doing this song and I also love "Somebody To Love"

  • Love saves

    Michelle

You can hear more of me on ITunes:

    Artist name CuppaJoe

  • she's cute

  • Why, THank You...Made my Day!

  • Great voice, and good stage presence. I just wish it wasn't presented in such a schmaltzy 'era-as-cartoon-parody' way.

  • TV shows that try to be "cool" all tend o be schmaltzy.

    :-)

  • Very true.

  • oh wow i remember that show, id love to go on!!! she is!!!! i could do that! or patsy cline!! she is amazing on this!! wow!!!! chills!!!

  • Unfortunately, the show only was on for 2 seasons!

I thought there was a lot of talented people on that show.

There was a guy who did an incredible Bon Jovi I will never forget.

    xoxo

    Michelle

  • yeah i used to watch that show when i was a kid, and thought wow, i would love to be on that show!! i think that i could get made over like patsy cline and sing one of her songs!! my fav. got alot of rythym in my soul!! :) i loved that show and agree lots of talent!!

  • I happen to love Grace Slick's original version, but you did an amazing job singing that song-I was just as moved. Congratulations!

My name is Michelle also ; })

  • A good name, Indeed!

    :-D

  • @wynterhawke what show was this ? btw you kick ass best grace attempt i have ever heard and in my opinion grace had the coolest voice in music

  • as i said before a remarkable delivery of such an iconic song done in such a respectable fashion

  • Hi:

I can only hope that more and more or the young upcoming singers of today "discover" Grace Slick---her soaring contralto voice was such an inspiration to me....

    Thank You

    Michelle

  • Holy shit I was going to rip on her for copying Grace but that shit sounds almost the same.

  • Hi SaintNight

Thanks for not ripping me.... :-)

    I love Grace too.

    xxoxo

    michelle

  • uncanny

  • Thanks. That is such a compliment.!

  • Wow, that was AWESOME! love it... that girl killed it!

  • Wow, amazing job!

    What show was this?

  • From the Dick Clark Production Your Big Break.

    and Thanks! :-)

  • Nice job Michelle. Nice job!

  • Thank You!!! :-)

  • Thanks so very much for taking the time to comment.

I had such an amazing experience doing this TV show.

It was so much fun to pretend to be Grace for a few minutes...

I have been 'rehearsing' for this moment all my life!!

    xxox

    Michelle

  • no way! you're not her are you?

  • Only in my "dreams"

    :-)

    Michelle

  • Wow. This is one of the best soundalikes I've ever heard. This is spot on.

  • Wow, same name as me!

    Ahhhhhhhh, same idea.

  • Wow. What an incredible performance. Grace would be honored. Not only was the delivery and the depth of vibrato totally dead on, but Michelle's presence on stage was so reminiscent of Grace. Absolutely breathtaking.

  • Thank You SO MUCH For the kind comments.

    Grace is the QUEEN

  • wow cool!!

  • wow, that was spot on! the 60's are still alive!!

  • The 60's are always alive and well at my house!

    xox

    Mihelle

  • Wow. This is excellent! Sounds so much like Grace.

  • Uau Exelente! :D

  • Michelle,

You're so right, I love the White House interview with Grace, so scary in cool control, with an intelligence and cynical humor to boot !

  • Awesome! Totally nailed it and you actually look a lot like her. I got chills watching this, it was that good.

  • I grew up loving everything Grace did. I thought (still think) she was such an incredible presence--cool, almost icy and yet alluring. She had it down and was in total control even when she seemed "out of control"....Just the whole package.

The Voice That Launched A Thousand Trips!

  • excellent job! what television program is this from?

  • This was from "Your BIg Break"

filmed at NMC studios in Burbank

  • Michelle, you're a shoe-in for the icon goddess !!

I listened many times, you and your group nail it perfectly, congratulations .

Any chance of an East Coast tour ?

  • Hi Thanks!

Actually this is not my band...This was a bunch of extra dancers to look like players for the TV SHOW. They used tracks EXCEPT for my vocal which was LIVE. I thought "the band" looked pretty convincing for dancers!!

Michael Gaiman is the man to reach to talk to about getting me onboard this project....Michelle

  • Wow.....Grace Slick Junior. Great job!

  • Now THAT is a true compliment that I will take!!!

    xox

    Michelle

  • LOL

  • Excellent performance!

    When was this?
