Hello Jock, I haven't been spending much time online lately but I'm sure glad I dropped in tonight and caught this one. I always like hearing your thoughts and enjoy listening to you express them. You have such a great voice and way of using it. Hopefully, I'll have more time to spend catching up on everything sometime soon. Hope everything is going well for you. Jason
I like it Jock, the simplicity of the arrangement helps me focus on the lyrics, Yeah you could rock it up at the end and turn it into a power ballad, but for me thats so predictable and has been done so many times else where. Less is more here I think!
Cheers Dave. I just heard your song on Manriq channel. Awesome production - I was a bit worried that you used Autotune - please tell me it isn't true!!! :-)
@anonplace Autotune! Not as far as I know. The guy I used to record it is really patient and has an awesome ear so he kept me right. Some of the other songs have 3 part harmony which took me ages to get right cos I'm not a natural harmony singer. No autotune though!
I agree with Johnfern99. The song is great and one could perform this type of high quality song many ways - but your performance really is great. I am so impressed (again) - you're a fine songwriter.
Note: I haven't commented on many of your other recent songs but I have tried to listen to the all (and I do return to relisten) - in fact, time for pizza on a sunday! ;-)
Good to hear from you man. Pizza on a Sunday - still so grateful for what you did on that one when I was a youtube newbie - maybe I should revisit that for a cover.
And it's Sunday, and I baked a couple of big pizzas - so nothing's changed chez Jock.
This is really a great song and performance, and I have to respectfully disagree with the others, and that I think the song should remain as it is. The music and performance is much more authentic with this version. I love it.
it's great man ! I can kind of see Derek's idea like a Guns and Roses "November Rain" type ending. Maybe Mr. Everett will don the jumpsuit and add the finishing touches ?
Wow. This song is brilliantly written man. I love the lyrics and the mis-leading rhyme scheme of it. I'm wondering why you ended it there though? Felt like the drums were about to kick in and the band was gonna start up and you were gonna go nuts and drive this son of a bitch home! At least that's what should have happened man this is a killer song here. Just feels incomplete to me. Sorry for the honesty. Drink whiskey, get wild, finish song and live out the rest of your days trashing hotels!!!
beautiful piece of songwriting amazing Jock

There aren't that many things I would pay to see, but D E in a spandex jumpsuit with a flying V - for that I'd make an exception.

Thanks man. No worries. It's good advice.
I'll see what I can do - but I don't think I'll be getting the spandex trousers out quite yet.
