  • Hi bity! LOVE your products! just wondering: I want to make a 2 piece mold with 74-30, what would I use as a separator?

  • @artnouveauiswar Thanks! Use 2300 Spray Release.

  • the poly 74/75 x catalyst is not on your online store and how much would it cost to order it if you have it

  • @melissa19947 It is ~$14 for a 4oz bottle. Call our store to order it. There is a lot of stuff that we carry in our physical store that is not available online.

  • how do you release nsp chavant clay from 74 30

  • @melissa19947 A light spray of 2300 mold release.

  • How many pounds would you estimate it would take to make a half inch thick clay cast of the head and shoulders? Thank you for the videos, they have been really helpful.

  • @Eidejak 6-8 lbs.

  • how much would that weigh? and where is ur store?

  • @peaceINDIAnPAK These head molds took about 3-4 lbs of rubber each. Our store is in Dallas Tx.

  • Excellent Video, very helpful, But I do have a question: I made a sculpture out of water based clay, then called your shop to find out what to seal it with before starting the 74-30 Urethane Rubber process. He told me to seal it with acrylic crystal clear spray , which I did, and it worked beautifully. The only problem I encountered was that some of the acrylic sealant transferred into my mold. What would I use to clean the inside of the mold with? Thank you very much :)

  • @artnouveauiswar Wash it with soapy water. You may need to use a blastic bush to work the clear coat out if it is sticking.

  • where can you find all the materials to make a mask?

  • with the end result, is that what you used to make the cast of the bear maul face?

  • Yes it is!

  • @kyledupont Approximately how much did the mask cost to make after doing all the steps, and all the casting? Also Approximately for a beginner how long (in your opinion) would it Take to make something like the zombie, or bear maul mask?

  • As far as time for a beginner, that is tough to figure. If you have an area set up for molding and casting most of these steps could be done in 1-2 days. The cost was about $200-250 and that includes the lifecasting materials.

  • @brickintheyard thanks

  • is it possible to pour some in a Mask mold and let it dry then pull it out and have a THICK strong rubber mask?

  • Do you mean pour 74-30 into a plaster mold to make a mask? If so, keep in mind 74-30 doesn't cure the same way latex does so it needs to be brushed in layers versus a dwell time in the mold.

  • why is the mask screaming

  • Because it hates being a clay head that is being molded.

  • i was wondering, how much would you charge to life cast my head so i can have a silicone mask for Halloween? im bald so the only part you would have trouble with is my goatee.. let me know if your interested so i can scrape together the money and whatnot :D rock on master of gel-10!

  • Call our shop.

  • sweet vid! so what is the next step . the cast thing at the end through me off! thanks for sharing!

  • i LOVE your videos!.. god i could watch them for hours.. and your giving away such like... expert information for free... your pretty awesome.. people probably think im like, another account of yours but really im just a guy who has been interested in this sorta stuff since i was very young. back when foam latex was the big thing. now we got Gel-10 and the silicone creations will probably outlive all of us put together (unless you leave them out in the sun for 5-10 years) lol

  • 1) can it cast latex?

    2) that is a nice fucking bowling alley. All the ones I've been in are crap. They all have these shitty CG animations that look like they were made in the early 90s, and it...... It's just cheap.

  • 1. Yes, you may brush latex into 7430 and it will release when dry, but since it has no absorbtion properties, dry time may be long.

    2. Nice bowling alley indeed.

  • Why does the voice cut out at 0:24?

  • Because the 1 one video making team failed to nice that glich prior to posting. Oops.

  • Thanks for another fantastic video.

As someone that is new to casting, I've been able to pick up on the naming convention for rubbers and resins where the second number is the shore A durometer value, but what does the first number represent?

    Thanks again!

  • The first number is the formula name (very uncreative). For instance: 74 series is urethane rubber, 70 series is Tin Cure Silicone, and 71 series is Platinum cure silicone. Those are but a few examples. Don't ask me where they get the numbers.

  • Thanks! I was really curious about that. I'll have to see if I can find a site that lists out some of the numbers so I can start memorizing them.

  • can this stuff go on face

  • Nope. Urethane rubber is VERY adhesive and is not in any way suited for lifecasting.

  • As always, great vid.

  • A urethane rubber mold would work for a simple mask but a rigid fiberglass or urethane resin mold would be even better for mask work.

  • do you have any videos of something like that?

or putting some up in the future?

    that would be awesome

  • I'll see what I can do.

  • if I wanted to make...lets say a silicone mask. I would need to use urethane rubber mold over my sculpt? I've was always curious about casting silicone rubber
