Jamie West Oram = Badass Guitarist..under rated and all in all one of the best ever..The Fixx are an amazing band that is wholly under rated as well..I have loved them since the early 80's
I always hear this song in mini mart. If you stay in there too long they say what are you doing my friend. They told my cousin what you looking at hurry up an buy now.
Saw FIxx perform last night at some club in Fremont. Small venue. Very cool! Fan of Cy Curnin? You'll love James Whren in REVERB, a must read of a beautiful, rich master musician who learns to love someone other than himself. Read it on reverbnovel or jcafesin dot com...
For me it sounds like the song speaks about the overcrowding of people and their individual desires/wants, causing chaos. No-one is happy. Everything's becoming claustrophobic and noisy. No peace and quiet to just enjoy life.
i dnt like the interupting of the downloading circle not the video its self . Ive heard this video without it , its better that way . and you can dance to it aswell .
I know I will take heat for this...but Phamtoms is quite possibly in my top 10 fav. albums of all time. I listened to it all the time on my bus ride into school back in the 80's. It's funny because it isn't in 'press' anymore, but Reach the Beach is. Too bad. A forgotten Gem
Underrated...not promoted by the record companies, at least we know about it...on a side note check out another one left out of the marketing sceam...try Imogen Heap...canvas,,,first train home and more...she is genious and has multi layer track causing space flight. She does it all herself CIO
I think they were actually promoted decently back in the day. They had a lot of AOR radio hits, they got airplay on MTV before it degenerated into RTV (Rap TV), and they did successful American tours. They were a fairly successful band until grunge came along in the early 90s and steered record company budgets away from great bands like this.
This particular song never did much for me, but it's still better than 99% of the empty musical tripe of today. ;-)
I don't believe it is. I think it's about unity, perhaps. It's vague enough the everyone hears what they want in it. I like the "man on the street" approach, but could do without seeing the guitar... Love this tune!!!
@DartsRme312 Having not seen the vid before, I had inferred that the song was about a world where the Cold War between the Soviet bloc and NATO had finally gone hot.
Phantoms is an awesome album. The Fixx are in my top 10 all time bands.

Just imagine all the money totalitarian governments waste on censorship...
In the USA we waste our money on other things.

This is NOT the video that went with the song when it originally came out in the '80's on MTV !!!
Maybe that was in itself censorship back then ?!?!?!
Great band, songs not about love or relationships, yet about the world and its problems.
I have seen them about 14 times since they first toured the U.S. in 1984
Listen to their words :)
A different band

this song has a lot of energy inside. like most of new wave obsessive themes of the early 80's (i love them)...and underrated as well.
