Around 280 are in service. 850 of them were ordered meaning lots of depots are going to get them.

Are they replacing any of the older buses?

Yes they are. Manhattanville doesn't use Nova RTS anymore and GunHill is replacing their '93 and '96 Orion V's with these hybrids. If you go around Co-op City and watch buses you'll see that '93 and '96 Orion V's are rare now when just 2 months ago they were half the buses out there. Staten Island no longer uses RTS buses and in Flatbush Depot a few of the RTS were replaced. There are alot of buses that still need to be replaced.
