The Second Amendment not only refers to the Militia but it also refers to THE PEOPLE.
On another note, the Second Amendment isn't so farmer Bob can go out and hunt duck or deer. The purpose of the Second Amendment is so we can protect our selves from threats that are both foriegn and domestic. Meaning invaders from other nations, terrorists, criminals, or oppresive government from our own nation. The Second Amendment is the one amendment that protects the entire Constitution.

Afterall, Reagan did sign quite a bit of anti-gun crap into legislature, and Bush (outside of letting the "Assault Weapons" Ban lapse and giving us a few justices) has done little/nothing to repay the millions of progun votes that gave him the white house.

DC has one of the highest crime rates in the country, that should be a clear indcation that gun control does not work! FUCK THE MAYOR OF DC. I bet he and most of the politians have guns, Their lives must be worth more.

I'm actually glad that it was put in front of the Supreme Court. In an effort to ban guns, they went up against one of the most conservative constitutional courts in the country. In a way, they just undid years of restrictions and bans on weapons by opening a case of worms and challenging law that is very clearly written. Even a grade school kid knows what shall not means. If for some reason the Supreme Court went against the 2nd, which will never happen. There would be an uproar.
On March 18, 2008, the U.S. Supreme Court will hear oral arguments in District of Columbia v. Heller. The Court announced its decision to take the case in which plaintiffs challenge the constitutionality of the District's gun ban last Fall.
Your #2 is wrong. There are many in our government who would love to take away everyones guns. It does not happen over night. It progresses slowly over many years. If in this case they rule in favor of Wash. D.C. it will meen that cities, states, whatever all over the country would be able to do the same.
