Agree. The Wii version also sucks compared to real sprees. I remember playing the exact same song as he did at a friends house in his birthday party several years ago. We played the Sega superstars version on PS2 with Eyetoy.

i) if you're playing what you claim was an import from Japan, then why is the game clearly in English? (some of us actually own the JAP release)

ii) Samba was released on Oct 18, 2000.. and given that you're playing the US version, I'd say you didn't get your hands on it until a good while later - so whats with this 1999 nonsense?

Yep I had this on the dreamcast but maracas broke now :(. I can get 100% perfect on every song on hard mode. I also have ver 2000 which had a few extra songs only in Japanese.

Many people complain that the controls on the controller are horrible, though. I'd look at gamefaqs or something and see how you like them. Honestly, when you get used to them, they're great. I can perfect Super Hard songs.

Dude, YES, I love Samba De Amigo, I lost one of those little pieces to the maraccas though, I'm so sad still about it. Sometime I'll order a new DC (mine burned up because I actually played it too much, Power Stone, Crazy Taxi, Soul Calibur, OH YES!).. I'll also order maraccas. I wish I could get Ver. 2000 and a DC and new maraccas, because I still have the VMU with all the songs they had up for download, which you can't get anywhere now.

This game is amazing, I first played this when i was like.. 6 I beleive, friend burnt it when it came out way back on the Pentium 3. Glad to see people into proper rythm games not this guitar hero shit. Im 14 now, can't wait for it's come back on Wii.

Out of curiosity, does that controller function as a real pair of maracas? It certainly seemed like they were making the noises.

Also, there was a mat. Is that a part of the controller itself? I just don't really understand how the peripheral works. I've personally been feeling a craving for the great games that you can't play simply by burning them onto a CD-ROM. This and Seaman have certainly been bumped to the top of my list.

The official Sega maracas don't make sound. I turned the maraca sound effects on in the menu. It helps me keep the beat. So the sounds were coming from the TV. The mat is just a cutesy little thing that comes with the official ones. It shows you where to stand in relation to the sensor. Seaman is great. I've been thinking about making a movie about that game similar to this.

Nah, the original ones have never given me any sort of problem.

I do have a friend whose Cha Cha Amigo maracas have the same problem... I'm pretty sure we blew something.

We had my first party maracas on two extension cords in port A, his Cha Chas with 2 extension cords in port B, a Sega Saturn to Dreamcast controller port in C, and I think something else in D.

They suddenly stopped working, and the game hasn't recognized them since. (the officials ones still work fine).
