@fatslugz Could it be Jeremih's "Break Up To Make Up" ?? It's a pretty tenuous connection, but the vocal sound is a little bit similar with a kind of compressed echo effect. Anyway, it's here on YouTube so maybe you might wanna go and check it out.

@sodacypher Greetings. I believe that "compressed sound" was the result of the British recording curve which was slightly different from the RIAA curve on most U.S. recordings.  Back in the 1950s, some high end hi fi amplifiers came with a switch to adjust the audio curve for "US", "UK" or "European". This curve was to bring out the best of the standard playback equipment of the time (which was by today's standard, crappy.)

The guitarist on TRIBUTE is Billy Kuy, later of the Innocents (formerly Bobby Angelo & The Tuxedos, who evolved into "The End"), who issued discs backing Mike Berry (HMV) and also as a self-contained group (Columbia, Regal Zonophone). One of the finest of his era IMO.
