  • i love this song as a child, singing to it every time it comes on!

  • good song, i remember hearing this song when sewing with children's.

  • yo yo yo fucking good yo yo yo i'm oldout(老外)

  • When this song first came out, I listened to it non stop for 3 months, I loved it then and I love it more today. Great singer, very soulful.

  • Love This Songg! <3

  • i love this song, when i was child...

    i love Priscilla Chan

    Thanks

  • @CellPhonehunger

Hi, friend, this song is in Cantonese

  • what a fuking awesome classic...has 2 b one of the best cantopop song ever in 1989 ^^

  • i actually like the mandarin version better..

  • a real classic

  • This song is almost the same with the anita Mui's version

  • I love this song eventhough Im 11 years old! :)

  • oh my...bring back memories of 80s....Prisciila..I am your fan..and you suddenly left music to go for further studies in US..................how i miss your music then,....from KL whatever happen to music now..after 90s...music turn rotten

Lynda Trang Dai《There Is Only You In My Heart》

    Blue Jeans《

  • @yottky

    It is "千千闕歌", not "千千闋歌"~

Although both 闕and闋 have the same pronuciation.

  • 1989 was Priscilla's year and the world was hers. All bowed to Queen Priscilla in 1989.

  • OMG such a beautiful voice of Priscilla and the song makes me think of 李清照

so cosy and poetic but pathetic, this is a piece of art

  • i love this song it is orignal use the japanese melody is sing in cantonese chinese and vitenamese and japan and also english verison

  • idk is it just me but when i listen to my native language music i just feel more emotional when i listen to other music in language and the song is beautiful :)))

  • @ANIME250

Me too. You know I love watching old HK dramas and hated when it's subbed in Mandarin because it lost the orginial feel. For music, I love listening to oldies Cantonese music because I feel more attached to it. Too bad Cantonese is a dying language.

  • @viczhou11 really ?? i didnt noe that :o at least the friend around speak canto and not mando =( well i hope it doesnt get killed off but their is still hope. My parents love listenning to old music in their era so i like it also

  • @ANIME250

If you talk to people who speaks Mandarin, what language do you speak? If two people got marry and one speak canto, other mando, what language do you speak? If that couple got marry, what language will the child most likely to learn? If a foreigner ask you to teach them Chinese, what language do you teach them?

Of course, in terms of the big picture, language always evolves, but on a personal note, I just can't help to feel a little sad about this.

  • @viczhou11 Cantonese is far from a dying language, at least not this century....

  • i love this song!

  • long long time not hear this song lol

  • sooooooo classic. it makes me sooo look forward to the 80's but i can never get back T^T

  • didn't anita mui sing a similar version of this song?

  • @fghcdd

yes she did, it was called 夕陽之歌. both songs are actually translated versions of the japanese song 夕燒けの歌 by 近藤真彥. an interesting fact is that both songs were released in 1989 and both got numerous awards.

  • @fghcdd Yup she did

  • SO classic

  • Hey, I really love this song but does anyone know who is the original singer of this song? I know it was originally in Japanese but who?

  • @TheJeffjw

  • this song came from japan first made this song also singer is 近藤真彦

  • this reminds me of my childhood memories in the late 80s

  • Hi,

Does anyone have the sheet music of this song?

    Best regards.

  • @CellPhonehunger

This is Cantonese. One of my all time favorite. it is about the "sad beauty" of saying goodbye to your friends or lovers. The sub-context was the fear of a lot of Hong Kong residents about the upcoming handover of HK to China by the British government in the wake of the failed 6/4/1989 student protest in Beijing.

Prescilla Chan sang this song as part of her farewell tour back in 1990 - amazingly, her popularity rose to unprecendented level with the success of this hit.

  • @SherwinZhou2001 but this song is copy form japan one if you dong believe you can chack singer

  • Its really too bad Prisciall never truly received the credit that she deserved. I guess people always, regardless of her age, think of her as the "lttle girl who lives next door".

  • love it.

  • What a GOLDEN AGE of Hong Kong Music & Movie industries!!!

A lot of loving memories back then......the 80's.........HK......luv it...

  • One of my favorite cantonese song.

  • Her voice is so clear and beautiful.

But she left when she was at her peak and when she came back, she had a difficult time with her record company. The record company that later signed her also didn't give her the attention and care she wanted.

I wish she will come back and give us beautiful music again.

  • Absolute vintage. It always calm me down when I listen to this song. A nice cantonese song sang by a great HK singer

  • When I liste to this song, it always calms me down. A nice Cantonese song sang by a great HK singer. Absolute vintage.

  • i luv this song, it makes me sit down & ponder/.

  • beside the song is great, the lyrics is also excellent! you can try to search for the English meaning. although the translated one may lost some beautiful Chinese flavours, but you can see the English meaning is also great.

  • so sad this was her career ending song =(

  • classic

  • I don't understand Cantonese either but that does not stop me from liking this song!

  • I understood both of mandarin and cantonese, I'm half chinese half viet ^^ but I wasn't born in vn :D,,I loved chinese song than viet song

  • @zZKhikonZz some viet songs are based on 90s chinese songs

  • @CellPhonehunger The song is in cantonese

  • @HentaiZero

    cantonese

  • @HentaiZero ya

  • Where can i download this song?

  • two weeks until i have to leave my girlfriend...makes me feel very uneasy!

  • she always the great singer, and her voice is pretty. Hey is anybody watch "Have a nice day" Lam San San got interview talk about her pass.

  • such a beautiful song~ im glad to be named after her. ^^

  • remind me another song,

    què

    què

  • Easily one of the best voices to emerge in Hong Kong in 80's. She did not have to show any skin to attract attention. Great poise! What a lady!

  • One point not many mentioned, is that Priscilla Chan's vibration is accurate and even, very evenly distributed which should be praised very much ! (She is excellent in other aspects also, of course !

  • Sweet voice and nice song, enjoy :)

  • goshh, i fricking love this songg^^

  • i <3 this song xD idk y but, like my parents, i luv old songs... they are beautiful =w=

  • i have a question here guys, what is the name of this song in english when translated , is it really "thousands of songs" like what is written there? would really appreciate for the help^^

  • lieumean: 闕 in Chinese is a quantity word that goes with a song or a poem, meaning sometimes a stanza and sometimes the entirety of a composition. so 千千阙歌 can be roughly translated as 'thousands of songs'.

  • It's 闕 in Traditional Chinese, not 阙. Be consistent: The title is either:

千千闕歌 if her name is in Traditional Chinese: 陳慧嫻

千千阙歌 if her name is in Simplified Chinese: 陈慧娴

  • don't know what you're talking about, trien30.

  • @trien30 , who cares, Simplified Chinese or Traditional Chinese, same.
