idk is it just me but when i listen to my native language music i just feel more emotional when i listen to other music in language and the song is beautiful :)))
Me too. You know I love watching old HK dramas and hated when it's subbed in Mandarin because it lost the orginial feel. For music, I love listening to oldies Cantonese music because I feel more attached to it. Too bad Cantonese is a dying language.
@viczhou11 really ?? i didnt noe that :o at least the friend around speak canto and not mando =( well i hope it doesnt get killed off but their is still hope. My parents love listenning to old music in their era so i like it also
If you talk to people who speaks Mandarin, what language do you speak? If two people got marry and one speak canto, other mando, what language do you speak? If that couple got marry, what language will the child most likely to learn? If a foreigner ask you to teach them Chinese, what language do you teach them?
Of course, in terms of the big picture, language always evolves, but on a personal note, I just can't help to feel a little sad about this.
yes she did, it was called 夕陽之歌. both songs are actually translated versions of the japanese song 夕燒けの歌 by 近藤真彥. an interesting fact is that both songs were released in 1989 and both got numerous awards.
This is Cantonese. One of my all time favorite. it is about the "sad beauty" of saying goodbye to your friends or lovers. The sub-context was the fear of a lot of Hong Kong residents about the upcoming handover of HK to China by the British government in the wake of the failed 6/4/1989 student protest in Beijing.
Prescilla Chan sang this song as part of her farewell tour back in 1990 - amazingly, her popularity rose to unprecendented level with the success of this hit.
Its really too bad Prisciall never truly received the credit that she deserved. I guess people always, regardless of her age, think of her as the "lttle girl who lives next door".
But she left when she was at her peak and when she came back, she had a difficult time with her record company. The record company that later signed her also didn't give her the attention and care she wanted.
I wish she will come back and give us beautiful music again.
beside the song is great, the lyrics is also excellent! you can try to search for the English meaning. although the translated one may lost some beautiful Chinese flavours, but you can see the English meaning is also great.
One point not many mentioned, is that Priscilla Chan's vibration is accurate and even, very evenly distributed which should be praised very much ! (She is excellent in other aspects also, of course ! ) 陳慧嫻的震音非常均勻,平均分佈,應該大大稱讚!當然她其他方面也是優美的!
i have a question here guys, what is the name of this song in english when translated , is it really "thousands of songs" like what is written there? would really appreciate for the help^^
lieumean: 闕 in Chinese is a quantity word that goes with a song or a poem, meaning sometimes a stanza and sometimes the entirety of a composition. so 千千阙歌 can be roughly translated as 'thousands of songs'.
One of my all time favorite songs n i ve been a fan of hers for 20 plus years. She is my favorite singer ever. LOVE PRISCILLA:) Thanks for sharing it. GREAT JOB!!!

Lynda Trang Dai《There Is Only You In My Heart》
李翊君《风中的承诺》
Blue Jeans《无聊的游戏》
梅艳芳《夕阳之歌》

Awesome song and awesome singer.
However, i would love to sniff her toes after a hot day and inhale the delicious stink.
Tickle her sweet feet and make her toes wriggle. Every time they do, the room will be filled with a wonderful whiff.
Suck her toes all night and give her pleasure. Nothing better than a sweet, shy, well educated, hygienic girl with stinky bare feet xx

It's 闕 in Traditional Chinese, not 阙. Be consistent: The title is either:
千千闕歌 if her name is in Traditional Chinese: 陳慧嫻
千千阙歌 if her name is in Simplified Chinese: 陈慧娴
