You should try delicata squash. It's amazing. I buy the stuff as often as possible during the winter, and it's so good and sweet when roasted or baked, all it needs is a little sea salt and coarse-ground black pepper.
Me and my wife just made ours. we added onions because we're addicted to them. They....are.....delicious! We made the dipping sauce too. What a combonation mmmmm...mmmmmm good :-)
Made the zucchini pancake today, and it was fantastic! used: half a zucchini, 3 pinches of salt, 2 tbsp flour and half a tbsp of rape oil for frying in a nonstick pan! only 140 kcal for the counters ;)
Hello Maangchi! No joke, I think I remember I had a twisted fantasy about a chickie just like you in a ladybug costume!! RRRRR! YOU ROCK!! M M MMMM ha ha!
When I tried to make this, it tasted good but it was not a pancake at all! The flour instantly changed to dough when I mixed it with the squash, so there was little pieces of dough mixed with the pancakes and when I cooked it, it wouldn't stay together at all! Any advice?
ohh ohh thank you so much for being so wonderful and making these videos! My boyfriend misses his mother in Korea and all the wonderful food, maybe now I can surprise him with a big Korean meal! Thank you so so much
I just made the squash pancake...it was unbelievably good!!!! I even impressed my husband...your recipe for both the pancake and dipping sauce is awesome! Thank you!
I just made this dish today, with my mum. Because we had let over zucchinis. It was so DELICIOUS!
But we had put too much water, so we had to add more flour. It became quite thick batter, but it was still nice! Next time I need to remember to put less flour and water, so it can be extra crunchy! Thanks for the recipe <3
Thank you for your videos! I am Hispanic, recently married to a Korean and I have to learn how to cook Korean food for him. I hope I can learn many receipies to make him happy.

That is really good to know, I never pay attention to the sound it makes on the bottom when you flip it to the other side. That looks so good. I think I am going to make it this weekend. :)
maangchi! that hobakjeon looks so delicious! i've only had pajun, beendaeduk type but not squash. maybe i should try it. :D i love your music selections, maybe one day you can use one of ours? :)

i think there is too much water in a cucumber that it is not a good food to cook. usually cucumbers are eaten fresh, rarely cooked. I wouldnt recommend it. :/
Maangchi you are the greatest!!! your costume is too cute. I'm going to the market now to buy some butternut squash and zucchini. Thanks for this great video.
That was an awesome episode! Will be putting this one in my favs list.
I just made roasted kabocha pumpkin the other day and served it with my homemade yellow curry sauce. I'm so in the mood for anything involving squash/pumpkin. Yum!
pumpkin is a squash, same family of veggies. I dunno where you live but you should be able to find squash, if not then pumpkin will work. Just make sure you use larger pumpkins or it will taste more sweet. Either way should be tastey

I have always liked zucchini pancakes, my mom made this for me when I was a kid. We just put the onion and hot peppers right in with the zucchini, sometimes add a bit of leftover ground beef. Is a great recipe to use up random ingredients and is tasty! Dip in a mix of seasame seed oil, seasame seeds, and soy sauce. Love your costume, very cute - Kyon
oooo my mom makes this and puts little slices of carrots onions and zucchini :) IT SOO GOOD ;P for the sauce my mom puts soy sauce sugar green onion and hot beanpaste with chillies!!!! :)

why is it that with the zucchini you have to put flour and the squash just salt?
Angeltots 2 years ago
The squash has a lot less water in it... it also has more inherent sugars. The salt draws out some of the water inside of the julienned squash. When it loses some water, it breaks down and softens slightly [but doesn't fall apart]. As a result, the threads will stick together. The salt draws out some of the water inside of the julienned squash, and also causes them to soften just slightly.
hapaboy81 2 years ago
The Zucchini has a LOT more water in it, and not a lot of sugar. Without the stability that the batter provides, it won't form a pancake and just fall together.

STSH94 2 years ago
Some kinds of squashes hold their form more than others. Butternut, like pumpkin, softens down as opposed to a zucchini, so you would need more batter to bind it together, I assume.
troolee 2 years ago
my guess would be squash gets mushy when you cook it so it will stay in shape
Zucchini get gets soft so in need the flour to hold it together
FoxGirlStephanie 2 years ago
the amount of water in the zucchini is more. need to absorb
zfair3850 2 years ago
