@wk2k11 The pubs are nice, there are a lot of them. Check our In Da Wildman, Cafe Belgique, Gollem, and the Arends Nest to name a few. I don't know so much about the club scene though.

oh yes and you don't have to stay in a hotel in amsterdam, it's a small country, you can stay just outside of amsterdam and take the train or bus to the city centre within 15 minutes or so. and those hotels are not as expensive as in amsterdam.

yes and amsterdam is really expensive if you go for coffeeshops and weed...every bigger city in the netherlands has one or more coffeeshops or red light streets, they just charge you a lot more in amsterdam. I'm dutch myself and would never buy weed in amsterdam. I also never go to amsterdam cause it's not the most beautiful city in the netherlands, but it's ok for 1 day.

16 or older for alcoholic drinks (beer, breezers ect.)

18 or older for high alcoholic drinks (wodka, whiskey, tequila ect.)

for drugs: You can only buy it in the shops if you are older then 18, and most coffeeshops will ask you for your passport. f you really want to smoke and you are under the age, let someone who is 18 or older get it for you in a coffeeshop and DON'T buy it on the streets!
