Belle voix forte et sensuelle, tempo pulsé et armonie de la musique font de la majorité des chansons de Donna Summer des moments de rêve et de bonheur où nous avons envie de bouger nos corps jusqu'à épuisement. Merci pour ces petites douceurs...
I was 16 in '76 & discovering all kinds of things about myself & the likes of Donna Summer gave me the escape I needed from all that was crap in my life & the world in general.Disco reined supreme.
I am 53, from the big Apple. Grew up listening to all this music. I am so glad I grew up during those times, it started in 76 for me then it ran all the way to 83 when I joined the Marines. I hung out tough for 7 years in the best city in the world. Loved it. Worked all day, partied all night and then repeated.
@WILDSTYLENYC Concur, and look at the condescending/disgusting music today; rap, hip hop and punk music; glorifying gang violence, sexual perversion, racism, sexism and dressing down in language and attire; pure stupidity.
And im not being one sided or closed mind about it either, but all these crap singers now days couldn't carry Donna's Bra let alone a tune in a bucket
They said disco was dead. Now it's back, only by another name. Gaga is making a ton of money off disco music. So its Rihanna, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, and the rest. We been there and done that. We even have the T Shirt. Donna is the original queen of disco though...always.
I remember it like it was yesterday, I was able to catch her in Lake Tahoe Nev.in '78 She was red hot and enjoyed smaller venues even if everything was going gold. If any one has had the pleasure of seeing her live know that if anything she sounds even Better live. Even after all these years she can out perform well, any of them really as most are just packaged performers that lip sync due to lack of real talent, Audience's today are really missing what we had TALENT.

that picture is nasty. like a black woman in the 1950s trying to be sexy. her music tanked in the 1980s exvcept for 1989. she had a good single" carry on" in 1992 that was mostly not heard and she hasn't made anything good since then.
love this song. it should be a staple of 70s radio instead of good ole boy billy joel who sucks.
who is singing the male vocals on this song? when I first heard this song on the radio I did not think it was Donna summer I thought it was Ashford and simpson.
Classic chart success February March 1979 among all the other classics out in those good old days. I was a kid then but yeh, the music charts were AWESOME. Cheers!
Heaven knows you just wanted to get inside Donna Summer and feel what she was feeling! Expressing her vocal gift to the world with love, sadness and joy all at once.
She was exalted to being a true goddess that crossed all boundaries of age, sex and "race". She was dirty and sweet and I don't know anyone who didn't love her. Love To Love You, Donna Summer! If there is a heaven, she'll be on the radio when we get there. I'm A Wanderer and I'm into outer space. She was the cat's ass of Disco era.
Donna did a duet with Joe Esposito, of Brooklyn Dreams. Billboard's #39 song of '79. They hit #4 pop, #10 soul, #17 AC, in Billboard. God bless ya, Miss Donna!
Like another poster had said it's hard to choose a favorite since Donna Summers had so many great songs but I do put this one near if not at the top of my personal list of her songs. Thank You for putting this on the tube.
It is hard to say I have a favorite Donna's song.. basically it is impossible because she had so many great songs. I want to go back to the 70s and live there forever. No more today's boring dance music. I got the album with this recording it is followed by Last Dance. O.o I may be getting older, but I remember the great stuff.

@popazz1 Donna Summer is the disco music what Hulk Hogan is to wrestling. The Babe Ruth of her era. There will never another Disco Diva, Highwaymen, or The Beatles.
"The Empress-DONNA SUMMER" I lived& enjoyed all of these songs by her. Had the privilege of being picked to sing back up vocals in 2007. WOW &some say that God doesn’t answer prayers, HA! Prayed over 30yrs for this. Owned a dance/model agency in the 70's & used ALL her music, so these songs bring more than memories to me, but my LIFE... I'LL ALWAYS LOVE...DONNA SUMMER! It was an era that no one can emulate! Music will NEVER be the same. God bless you Donna& your family for sharing you with us!
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
i love this song, and her voice does sound angelic, but i can't overlook her self hate to have her screw nasty white men. i also don't get how she's beautiful. she looks like a pure ape to me. brilliant song though.
I LOVE THIS SONG MY FAVORITE ONE OUT OF ALL HER SONG GREAT WORDS AND MUSIC YOU WILL ALWAYS LIVE FOREVER IN MY HEART DONNA SUMMER GOD BLESS YOU LOVE YOUR FAN CARMELA
She is a Diva!!! She is lovely!!! I'm sure she and her voice and her music means a very very important part of the life of all of us!!! The moments we lived while listening to her we'll never forget, because she made us very happy!!!
i have three of her records, along with many other different records. im 13. people come into my room and point to my record player and say, "whuz that?!" and i'll say "record player" "cd player" "no. vinyl records" "h-how?!"
heard this on the radio and fuckin loved it. this is coming from someone who listens to rage against the machine, cannibal corpse, BTBAM, devildriver, pantera, gwar, and sublime and 311. i guess im just a sucker for a great bassline.
@meehalee21 The amazing team-up of Giorgio Moroder as producer with Donna Summer...The songs are tight, chord progressions interesting, great bass, vocals unbelieveable. Donna is my fave female vocalist of all time.
Baby please, baby please, please don't take your love from me. I truly love this song. It remind me of my days in high school back in Beaver Falls, PA. I love you Donna!!!!
I was a toddler when this came out but wish I was my age now back in 1978-1979! Those were the days I wish would come back strong out here in warm, sunny Cali! Still heard this song played at Venice boardwalk though (; Bring back the rollergirls, LEAN bodybuilders, and Donna's music! (;

Donna Summer+Motown+Awesome Songs=THE GREATEST EVER
muzikchik39 1 year ago
"The Empress-DONNA SUMMER" I lived& enjoyed all of these songs by her. Had the privilege of being picked to sing back up vocals in 2007. WOW &some say that God doesn’t answer prayers, HA! Prayed over 30yrs for this. Owned a dance/model agency in the 70's & used ALL her music, so these songs bring more than memories to me, but my LIFE... I'LL ALWAYS LOVE...DONNA SUMMER! It was an era that no one can emulate! Music will NEVER be the same. God bless you Donna& your family for sharing you with us!

i love this song, and her voice does sound angelic, but i can't overlook her self hate to have her screw nasty white men. i also don't get how she's beautiful. she looks like a pure ape to me. brilliant song though.

heard this on the radio and fuckin loved it. this is coming from someone who listens to rage against the machine, cannibal corpse, BTBAM, devildriver, pantera, gwar, and sublime and 311. i guess im just a sucker for a great bassline.

@meehalee21 The amazing team-up of Giorgio Moroder as producer with Donna Summer...The songs are tight, chord progressions interesting, great bass, vocals unbelieveable. Donna is my fave female vocalist of all time.

I was a toddler when this came out but wish I was my age now back in 1978-1979! Those were the days I wish would come back strong out here in warm, sunny Cali! Still heard this song played at Venice boardwalk though (; Bring back the rollergirls, LEAN bodybuilders, and Donna's music! (;
