This sounds great, wish they'd release an album of reworked (unworked?) mixes, less vocal reverb especially, just the raw tracks with little post work.
20 odds years on and still love this band, now have folk that are now my age then, asking about this band, some others have gone and been lost in time, but the roses will be remembered for a very long time, a debut album with no crap tunes, who else has done that, other bands i enjoy have a few dodgy tunes on an album but the roses all class, and this as the last song on the album, what more could you ask for
long live the stone roses..not ashamed to say this but the stone roses stone roses album was and still is my bible..sorry jesus you have just been out played
@96Dano Great to hear. I am sick and tired of people saying The Stone Roses sound like their high school band. Really? This was done 20 years ago. Do you think your high school band will be remembered, even by the very members, 20 years from now?
@tanooj2 The relevant word here is time's "a" constant, what your referring to is time is not linear, where in which your correct. Though time being "a" constant is a fair a just statement. For example time has and will always exsist, before the big bang or for you creationists out there, gods magic, time exsisted it is ever present and the only constant man can precieve. Get it?!
Eveytime the chorus comes I need a fag and a dance lol.. QUALITY TUNE!! This moulded the indie scene and very few have been able to keep up to its standard.
1991, I mind being 16 and at college serving my time as a spark. We went for lunch from college, the whole class, to a pub. Played pool the whole afternoon with the complete album playing over and over. Fell in love with it then, and still love it now. What an album for anyone, esp a debut. Top Top band, will Live Forever
@pookierules1 Yes of course. As good as Ryan Adams or Pavements openers are, this for me is the greatest and has still not been bettered. Can't see it being either...
fuck what anyone says. this is by far the best ever indie song. and this is by far the best ever indie band. they sum up everything that makes english guitar music so much better than any other countries.
@fondoogle and plus they dont act like indie bands of today do. in terms of rock, i refuse to listen to indie but U2 and stone roses are exceptions and rightly damn so! its just today, indie bands have terrible vocalists who ruin their chances in a musical career with their attitude that says " we are unique and dont need a label"
@fondoogle people talk about musicians ,stars ,singers and super stars who followed making music....but these bands remind you where it all started....where music was created,invented.....
folks now think "oh yes it is the english who made music and they are alive making music"
...no, no, no, I would bet £1000 Squire did not ok this casio/bontempi version of a classic!! In fact I cant see any of the Roses giving the thumbs up for this piece of weak shit!! The timing is all over the place, why mess with perfection anyway?
Fuck you MarkTurver1990! Apart from the fact you could hear Reni's harmonies better, I'd always hated the single version of the GPOME (greatest piece of music ever) and now I discover that the 12" versions clubbed-up ending is cool-as-fuck. Now I'm going to have to spend time effort and money tracking a copy down. Thanks you bastard.
I much prefer the original (can't stand the drums and keyboard on this version... and it misses the jam at the end). Shows what a massive difference the right production can make.
the greatest band of all time, love this version, there are no shit roses versions of anything(mug) excellent post ,only for real roses fans (not ian brown fans philistines!) roses! roses! 0161 in the area !0161 in the area!

Time isn't a constant.

of course time is a constant, please explain to me the arguments against time being a constant...?

@WretchX if time was constant you'd be frozen in time... time always moves forward from past to present to future, ergo, it ain't constant
