Theres huge differences between singles, duals, and triples.
To start theres the obvious the headroom, then you have the feel is different.
Especially with the older 2 chs.
Then you have the sound differences, singles are boomy as are 3 ch duals and triples, they have insane amounts of bass, even with an od its hard to control, the 2 chs are really the only way to go other than the newer reborn 3 chs but youd have to be crazy to pay over $1000 for a recto lol
@Ango360 The different rectifiers are pretty much exactly the same. The only difference you really run into are between the two and three channels rectos. Other than that the sound is pretty close between the three, just a little quieter on the lower wattages. A common misconception is that since the single recto is 50w and the dual recto is 100w that the single recto will only get 1/2 the volume. Actually, to only get to half the volume of a dual recto it would need to be a 10w recto.
Hey man. I bought one of these and im wondering what cabinet will bring out the best sound of this amp. is the mesa cab good, or should i go with a marshall cab?
I've heard the Mesa cabs are more difficult to record in studio(a lot of low end and really boomy), where the Marshall cabs sound more brilliant and versatile.
I'm looking at a Single Rectifier with EL34's in it. I've already preferred the brighter sound you get out of them. Gonna sound great with my PRS C22.
I'm also looking at a Marshall JCM 2000 DSL, and I can't decide which I want.
its a bend to the same note, for example you play the 5th fret on the high e string and bend the 8th fret on the b string up. if you do it slowly and rest in a position, where the difference between both tones is very small, you get that nice sound
I have a Mesa Solo 50 v2 and there's something going on with the FX Loop in the back. I tryed plugging about 4 different device in it and there's huge deep low sound happening. As if it was a real deep bass sound with tremolo in it that just don't stop. Then if tryed to lower the volume of the device (in this case a Boss ME-10) and it stops. Anyone has that happening?
plz answer back- Which amp (marshall vm or the mesa)do you think has a great rockin roll tone but can also get cranked up for some 80's metal( i mean-which amp is has a good respons when you palm mute?
well dime used the digitech whammy i believe. its a great tool. but yeah, i would definitely pick up a whammy pedal decked out in camo with the CFH logo. that would be badass.
Stacking an AC conductor on the amp head can't do anything good for your tone. You can't see it but EMI is always there.
Also, don't scamp on good cable either. What ever you connected the head and cab with looked cheap and thin. Also be sure to upgrade the wire inside the cab. Mesa bight be the end all of amps for some you can easily and cheaply improve them. You will notice an improvement in tone with better wire and cable at least.
The powerbar was up there for convenience, lots of switching around equip, and there are a mix of good and poor cables. Never considered the wire upgrades inside that cab, but will be looking at the innards of my avatar soon.
Weelll, different. More organic ? whatever that means. Way different tone that suits what I've been playing lately. If I could have a harem of amps the mesa would still be there to pleasure me at my behest :)
purchasemesaboogiestacksolditpurchasedjvm410tradedtoarockerverb50headontopofavatar4x12v30's. The looong and winding road duh duh. 18 month time frame. I'm good now tho :)
Orange rockerverb 50. Trades, returns, sell and some very patient dealers in Calgary. I work, and I owe. Finally I feel the tone in this amp is as close as I'm gonna get for the next few years. Now I can pay back the car fund I was saving up. One of the other right now :)
You have made good video. This is tons of better than average youtube guitar amp demo. I got that amp too, and I have to say, that i wont sell it. I just love it. I can play country, classick rock, rock, metal, from CCR to Opeth to The Darkness. Many times can hear that there is something missing, cure for that is just little EQ to effeckt loop. Adorable. Btw, very good song you played here, and the other vid from this.
I just love it , but the only thing that keeps me from buying 1 is that it always sounds like something is missing, must be kinda like a thin sound or missing effect, i just cant figure it out , but all i can say its a wonderful piece you have there but its missing the rich thickness i crave.

whis one is the best - Single, Dual or triple?
Ango360 1 year ago
@Ango360 i think a 50w is already loud enough. Dual is like a head for people that gigs a lot and the same with he Trible excpet its a bit louder.

no - the differences are wattage, and in some cases channel + the dual has more gain on tap.

Its a freakin camera mic--ever heard an album recorded with a 50 cent mic?
People..stop playing 5000 dollars worth of amps through a 50 cent mic. You can tell nothing. Anyone who commented on sonic quality needs a CAT scan

All my amp recordings now are being done using proper mics now. :)

Burzum uses 50 cent mics for recording. He sucks. But just saying. He uses the cheapest mics he can find.

huge. 6l6 is for the american tone, el34 is for the british tone
sivrikozis 2 years ago
American tone? Like what bands?
Femicide09 2 years ago
american tone (6l6): more bass, heavy, better cleans like metallica (all the bands using amps with 6l6 like boogie, peavy)
british tone (el34): bright sound like guns and roses, acdc (all the bands using amps with el34 like marshall, orange, vox)
