  • @15thsquadron01, yo mean

  • Yo that's a bit mean calling Paul overweight

  • Yo that's mean calling Paul overweight

  • Where can i get a laminated katana like u have at 1:02?

  • Such grace...

  • what song is this . .. i really like it

  • A bit overweight but I love your video. I want to buy ninja sword I have already bought samurais Samurais Katana. I think that guy in vid could use some excercise.

  • you guys are total retards. the name cheness is the brand of sword not a fucin country. you guys are brainless. besides the word you sre looking for is chinese, you guys are too ignorant tol spell it right. do your homework you fucktards

  • lol. ok noob first of all it isnt chineese its japaneese Katana they are 90-100cm lont incl the handle grip. so u must rename ur videos to Japaneese Cutlery instead ;)

  • lol how sad to see you correct him when it was you that didnt read...

  • lol. You're the noob. Cheness Cutlery is the brand. It doesn't say Chinese. Or as you spell it "chineese" ; )

  • Why Tell Him? He Was Born Stupid Let Him Stay That Way

  • hmm i have an eye on cheness swords i was wondering whats the differences between those swords, i currently have one but its not the type of katana im looking for (too long and heavy), im searching for one that is lighter for iaido

  • what about a reverse blade sword?

  • i have a cheness oniyuri its slightly shorter and its great

  • 0:28 your form was horrible (no offence ment) but you push your self to hard off balence

  • Blind Fury 2??? ;))

  • ur form is crappy

  • Probably not to safe, neat video though.

  • Have you ever accidentally let go of a sword?

  • Badass video man, that pineapple cut was fuckin tight. cool song

  • if i was to buy the tenchi could i switch for a difrent tsuba or will that ruin the stength of these swords?

  • a tsuba is just a hand guard, the durability and cutting power of the blade would stay the same.

  • MAN AT 0:56 WAS TO RAW

  • 0:46 was epic!

  • Did you do any Martial Arts as Kenjutsu or Iado? Your techniques are good for power and line attacking, but I miss a bit defensive stance and speed control.

  • No, not trained formally (and yup, I know my form is rather off).

  • sweet song

    Clubed To Death

  • how much is that katana ?

  • They are all between $250 to $300.

  • That's so fucking awesome, I'm gonna buy from that site right now!

  • That was cool.

  • hey how much was that and where did u get it? did u get any swords from ebay or the internet

  • how much is a kayna

  • Cheness make beaters heavy duty abuse taking monosteel tanks. Ill admit they look amazing and perform amazing. Hanwei to me is more for looks. Like the orchid katana for example well detailed and extremely sharp like stupid sharp as the website says. I own the paper crane made by hanwei and it was well worth its price tag. I also own a cheness O-katana also worth its price tag lol

  • Nice choice of song =D

Good sword as well, keep making reviews!

  • do all of these swords come sharpened

  • Except the non-sharpened iaito (which are specified) yes indeed. All tests are done with swords out of the box.

  • ive been reading about the cheness katanas and i came across a forum thread that talks about how the tsuka is cracked and/or the tang is very loose inside the core and that can aslo result in cracking is this true...if so is there any way to fix this problem?

  • SFI? :-) Long story, but the short answer is - the Cheness tsukas were originally the same as every other sub US$300 Katana (= not all that great). But the blades were excellent. They have since revised the design of the tsuka several times, but the old problems are parroted over there ad inifitum. Truth be told, they are now overbuilt..!

  • Yes it was SFI and I know I ask a lot of questions hope I'm not a bother....but so what your telling me is they fixed the problem and the tsuka are tight against the tang or even if they're not is it even a problem i should worry about?

  • and about the blade, my current sword is my first (high carbon steel, battle ready, full tang, ect.) and it scratches pretty easily and it has no fake hamon so I'm not worried about sanding out the scratches but does the Tenchi scratch easy too( did it scratch when you hit the stump) And if I sand it down will the hamon disappear?

  • It doesn't scratch easily (HRC in the low 50s), but sure - the stump leaves cosmetic marks on everything... (which is why it is not a recommended target). Polishing the sword you have will indeed remove the hamon, but you could have some fun making your own over the top, quite a fun project!

  • A cracked tsuka is always a problem. But they really don't happen much these days (I am sure they do happen sometimes, but definitely less than any other company in the same price range).

  • hey i have a good idea come out in a samurai get up and surprise the living crap out of the people that say other wise and plastic boat has a point but not the way i would have said it word on you stances and again surprise the crap out of these nay sayers "swords forever"

  • The grace of a wart hog!

  • do you have a video that shows a torture test of the kaze like you have with the shura/tenchi? what are the cutting limits of the tenchi/shura (hardest thing you can cut without damage to the edge....minor scratches dont count.) i did watch through my fingers the video of O katana test against the steel barrel....is the shura/tenchi that durrable......and finally (i know theres alot just trying to get all the info i can) do both of the tenchi and shura come with the fake cosmetic hamon on them?

  • No torture tests of the Kaze as yet. Have privately conducted a test with a Tenchi/Shura in Shirasaya and it does better on the barrel than the O-Katana. And yes, all have a fake hamon on the monosteel swords - though it is pretty tastefully done. Hope this helps.

  • very much thankyou and i can almost promise u that i will be buying either the shura or tenchi soon from ur site

  • hi i have been to your site and read your reviews but im a lil stuck as to whether i shoud get the kaze for its superior edge and cutting abilities or the tenchi/shura for the durability so my main question is can the tenchi cut paper like the kaze can? unsuported and i doubt ill ever put my sword under the stress u do but what are the kaze's limits?

  • Short answer - no, the Tenchi isn't quite as keen as the Kaze. But much stronger. However, for normal cutting (i.e. Tatami, bamboo, etc) the difference in durability is not significant. You would really have to screw up cutting a normal target with the Kaze for it to take a set. But if you are concerned, I would go with one of the monosteels.

  • Haha music from 'Fearless', when Jet Li fights Samurai. I love this sword - I'd like to buy one in future :)

  • the form looked good but was missing speed while going from one strike to the other and when hitting the wood it looked like you put to much of your body weight into the swing instead of leverage.

  • that pineapple sequence was epic. you should have had some crazy music going there. I need to get a job so i may buy these things.

  • sre these all full tang if so would a non fulltang be able to do this

  • No way. I've seen those things fall apart just swinging them around...

  • pineapple one was sweet

  • 2 questions about the katana.

    1. My younger brother has taken my katana (rather a decoration, but quite sharp), he's hit a stone or sth similiar and kissaki is jagged now. What can I do with that, if I want to recover it earlier form?

    2. It's rusty in few places. How can I get a rid of the rust? Typical, anti-corrosion things don't help at all.

  • I would recommend reshaping it with a file, then smoothing it off with some abrasive paper and then metal polish.

The metal polish will get rid of rust. So will products like CLR clear.

More info is avaialble on my site for cleaning, maintenance, etc. Hope this helps.

  • how much would a sword cost that would cut bamboo like that from cheness

  • Between $200 to $300. The full reviews are on my site 'sword buyers guide'

  • they are great swords, I just got one, real nice, mine was the last of the san mai...sharper than shit, got two bandages to prove it, cleaning/polishing it last night.

  • just bought one of these ^ ^, It is an iaito but never the less, great work put into these blades for minimum $

  • ... Won't chopping wood with a sword damage it?

  • Well, it certainly CAN. It all depends on the blade geometry and structural integrity though.

One guy over at My Armoury summed up my feelings on this by saying: "Figure I'd rather find out if a sword I don't instinctively trust (I trust some vendors more than others) is going to fail when I expect it might, instead of when I don't (as much as possible)."

  • I hope you ate that pineappple after you cut it :)

  • Yup, we sure did..!

  • all cuts should be from head dont come on sholder thats just useing power

  • could you possibly test a powder steel katana? i might get one and i want to see the level of abuse they can take.

  • A bit over the US$300 budget that Sword Buyers Guide reviews, but who knows - there are a lot more tests in stall in the future and comparing some 'higher ends' against these 'cheapies' would be a very interesting (though bloody expensive) exercise...

  • were con i buy this katana from

  • All the details are on my site, click on the profile page for a link (youtube won't let people put in a url, which isn't neccessarily a bad thing).

  • oh!!... hoo!!! i think one of those waterbotles has a leak!!!!

  • okok cool vid but that was good water bro....waist =0

  • Satak, do you really think the idea is to hit the armor? Clumsy. Hit the soft spots, or use something designed to break armor.

  • I own several of the Cheness blades and they do perform like that out of the box. I highly recommend the 9260 spring steel for any serious tameshigiri. They have out-cut many more expensive blades too!

  • i like how the sword gets stuck. where did you purchase the katana and how much was it?

  • What did u think of the Tenchi? I really want to buy it but IDK...

  • god wouldn't hitting the log at the end like really damage the sword. It gave me goose bumps thinking what would happen if i did that to mine lol

  • And if you tried that on plate armour there woudn't be much left of the blade afterwards. That is why swords like katana would not have been useful in battle in medieval Europe or anywhere else where heavy armour was used.

  • well i dont know about plate but against chain mail the tenshi (the katana being tested.) it broke the mail (not cut it wasnt very clean) and it cun the slab of mean under it. but against armor i would think of using a o-katana (dai-katana, two handed katana,) or a hand and a half. or better yet something like a hammer or halberd that is meant for heavy armor. but for light to possible medium armor the katana will do rather well.

  • the japanese had a weapon designed to cut through mail it was the ningata.

  • It's a tenchi. So no

  • japanese people should be really proud

  • Impressive most impressive.

  • It seems like that tenchi katana would have recieved some damage after cutting that solid wood block. Did it?

  • Cosmetic scratching yes. Damage - no. I've repeated that cut around 10 times with the same sword and the worst damage is the scratching (it's one very tough sword!)

  • Yup - from the final scene of the first Matrix movie - title is 'Clubbed to Death - Kuramono Mix' I believe.

  • hey whats the songs name plz? matrix right = dunno the rest of the name

    plz tell

  • Your movements are pretty good and swift!

are you practicing any sword mastering martial art?

  • Well, I wouldn't say that.. :-) At the time I was almost entirely 'self trained'. But I have started training properly around 2 months ago, so hopefully the next vid will be a little more 'traditional'.

  • that was so badass man

  • Never mind. That was plain bamboo.

  • Wow very nice. I love katanas there the best sword. I wanna see some1 do a movie that shows a european sword vs a katana in cutting things like jugs and that plant stuff.

  • Plant stuff? You mean those rolled up bamboo mats on that stand?

  • Tell me mellowmaromi1, why are they the best sword?

  • I wish I had sharp swords.

  • It's all fake!

(Just kidding. Seems to be the default comment around here.)
