i aint hatin but damn i dont got equipment and i make better beats then you. you wasted yo money b or maybe you got some hot shits some were cause damn...
The best thing is for people to go to their nearest music retailer and try out both the Akai 5000 and the MPV 8800 and hear the sounds and try out the controls and the functions on each machine and read up about the features and make their own decision. Each machine is o.k in its own right depending upon the individual's needs and experience.
yo TRACKERHOUND, since you've used both mv, and the mp5, i wanna ask you is there a function on the MV that is like the "16 LEVELS" function on the MP?
You obviously haven't even worked on a MV-8800 as the sound quality is even for the most critical person AT LEAST every bit as good. In my opinion much much better even. Also, it's build like a freaking tank, so your it's cheap comment makes no sense at all. Also, for your info the 128 audio tracks are HD quality, just like the 8 from the MPC5K. They are not crappy sounding! The stock sounds easily blow away any stock sounds Akai ever provided, especially the horns and drumkits.
You are right, but there are a lot of cats that still seem to quite literally worship Akai because they keep thinking of the old stuff. MPC4K, MPC3K and so on. The MPC500, 1000, 2500 and 5000 ain't on that level. In fact, why do you think JJ os is so popular?? It's because Akai screws up on things, both when it comes to quality of their products, but also on the software/operating system side. The dude in the movie is right, they really should team up with a DAW developer.
ppl havent realized that akai of today is NOT the akai of yesteryear. build quality has gone down considerably since numark took over. i have not peeped the mpc 5000, but the mpc 2500 isnt even up to par with the mv8800. i doubt the mpc5000 will even be up to par with an mpc 4000.
The somewhat funny truth is that the 5000 isn't on par either. In fact, it tries to be MV-like by having a nice synth in it and being priced about the same, but basically it's a MPC3500 with a synth which is why they called it MPC5000 (check the manual for the 3500 mistake). It's not the MV-killer Akai fans had hoped for and Akai basically screwed up. All top producers out there that already have one agree, some even sold it. Before people start to flame, I actually own a MV-8800 AND a MPC5000.
anna91488 that's bullsh!t! The 5000 hasn't even been released yet. Second the 5000 8 tracks recorder are from the Fusion - not the DPS-24. The synth has 20 voices but it's not multitimbral. The 5000 is built with the exact same parts as the 2500.
the 5000 hold 192MB ($150) max compared to Roland's 512MB. Want a CD burner add another $300 to the 5000. It's a 2500 on steroids and nothing more.
The MV has 128 Midi tracks and 8 audio tracks. get it right people!
I have bought my 5K just about 2 months ago. To be fair when it comes to RAM though I maxed out my MV's RAM the first week I had it running out of sampling ram pretty fast when sampling larger audio files (remember it doesn't read mp3 format, so you'll often end up importing rather large (think 110mb) wav files). Of course you end up chopping off a lot and it ain't a big deal as you can get the 512mb for as cheap as 20$ brand new. Instead of having to buy Akai-brand 192mb ram (150$!!!).
