I don't like your tactics when introducing... why6 do you think he's moving? You don't just let him move around and do nothing about it. To anyone who has experienced serious amounts of moving or is currently, re-introduce your anemone BUT THE TRICK IS... This time, within 15 MINUTES of the introduction to the desired destination in the tank you want your anemone, FEED IT! Feed it so it doesn't have that 'hunters' instinct and has any reason to move. For me, this has been a significant tactic.
@lafishguy cool, thanks. I'm just starting a nano tank, the local fish shop just give me a few live rocks and a big piece of this "red rock" and tell me is some sort of dead coral.
I have a slight algae problem. There is this algae that is green and red that completely covers my rocks and my live sand, and my snails seem overwhelmed by the amount and cant finish anything because it grows right back within a day or so...and my sand has turned from a beautiful white to a disgusting red...what would you suggest i do
hey S, its not an algae, its a bacteria called Cyanobacteria. its quite likely the result of the food, mysis? you can try cutting back on food, improving protein skimming and water changes to suck it out but these are slow to get results. there are 'pills' that will clear it within days but the skimmer needs to be turned off... and it will have some small longer term affrects.

Hey i just started my first salt water tank and i am new to the concept. I have done tons of research an so far have zero issues. I have damsels right now cycling it. It is a small 36 gallon bow front with a T5 coralite with attinic and 10,000K bulbs. canister filtration, protein skimmer, and good current. What recommendations do you have for good starter anemones. like a small list. And when would you think is a good time to introduce one
hey B, i was always taught not to try SW in less than 55/60 gallons. anything less has no volume and without volume you have less stability. SW is hard enough without complicating, and anemones are even more difficult. since I've never done small SW I really dont have any experience and would not be a good referal.
It would be amazing to see a time laps of the anemone moving about the tank. Have you ever thought of getting an underwater camera to get a fish eye view of the tanks?
hey jim would it be better if you put anemones in your tank without corals to avoid it to sting other corals or would it be just the same as putting it in with corals
hey D, sounds like its happier in your tank than the stores. its responding to something positive, maybe the stronger lights. chances are it will move around a bit.
hey jim i have a 40g breeder with a 192w coralife light hood and was wonderin if u thought i would be able to support a bubble tip anemone thanks ahead of time PS> your vids rock

raiderFHOF 2 years ago
hey R, on my own 125 gallon tank i have 300 watts of Pqwer Compact and 120 watts of SO Flourescent. the Rose has now split into two anemones.

9999BlackRosez 2 years ago
hey 9, corals are stationary, anemones can move.... and will always poke up in the middle of your corals and sting them.
lafishguy 2 years ago
thats a bad idea cuz that fucker is just gonna go around & sting all the coral!
mishac23 2 years ago

Hey Jim i have a 125g tank and i was wondering what is the minimum amount of light needed to house an anemone in the 125g aquarium
raiderFHOF 2 years ago
hey R, if it were me I would get FOUR 65 watt PC Flourescent Lamps.
lafishguy 2 years ago
so i need at least 300w on my tank
raiderFHOF 2 years ago
hey Q, aside from the lesser volume of water in a 40 gallon tank I would think you definately have enough light for a Bubble Tip anemone.
