Content of the movie aside, I work at L3D which did a huge portion of the stereo conversion, and if you're into good 3D you should definitely see the movie on the big screen while you still can. :) The movie was shot to be gorgeous in 3D and whether you're looking at "native" or converted scenes it looks amazing.

I, for instance, love the audio/video combination in the TF movies, so I'd gladly watch it when I want some mindless action. Michael has a such a unique way of telling a story that you tend to make the jump with him and assume things/fill in the blanks because that's just the way his movies go. But with other movies that explain with a ton of exposition, I do catch all the inconsistencies or things that make you go, "Wait, that can't be right because x,y and z". That leap-frogging through plot that he does takes a special kind of timing and skill that not everyone can pull off (see: all the Bay wannabes).

What the people who made this video don't understand is that art isn't whatever they want to call "art." Art is 1/2 craft and 1/2 profound meaning. Art must have a theory to survive as a serious craft. The same with math or anything that is based on a theory.
In fact, ART was counted amongst the crafts (blacksmithing, coopering, etc) until the Renaissance, when artists proved it could have a theory and was therefore just as useful as philosophy, rhetoric, and the other "classical" arts.

just saw the movie..had high expectations and i came out unsatisfied...not a good story line but usualy its hard for the 3 sequence. Also i thought fox would of done a much better job. I was pissed at the end when prime killed mega tron in 5 sec. when they have been fighting each other for the past 2 movies..should of had a much more epic and longer fight scene. The effects where much better in this one, though if it had a better story line it would have been a great film.
Transformers is supposed to be a philosophically challenging sci-fi theme about consciousness and power. The old Transformer cartoons & comics always had a moral framework and a deep story. The plot, ideas and storyline in the 3 part pilot for the cartoon was far cooler than that of all three of Michael Bays movies combined. I expect a movie with this type of budget to AT LEAST invest in trying to make it all coherent. Look at Batman Begins. It is based on a story that was developed to write comic books. Just as Transformers was written to sell toys. Except the stories in Transformers were 10x more bad ass than that of Batman comics. Why can't Transformers be written to be bad ass?

I accept calling the trailer art. But one has to be a bit brain-dead for finding the exact same thing stretched and repeated over two hours still cool.
Kindof reminds me of the promos for Expendibles... they also made me pumped for some awesome. Too bad that I couldn't see any of the awesome in that film because of how he shot it. But at least Bay knows how to shoot explosions and carnage in a way that let's me enjoy it to the fullest.

Art isn't just craft and profound meaning. True art also illicits a response/feeling of some sort (profound meaning would fall in line with that). what I find really amusing is when people excuse DOTM as "dumb action movie fun" then go and whinge about twilight being a soulless, sap romance (which it is).
"take the plank out of your own eye, and then you will see clearly to remove the speck from your brother's eye," seems oddly appropriate.
Still, one could argue that mediocre bollocks like DOTM is needed to reveal the decent films for what they really are.

just saw the movie..had high expectations and i came out unsatisfied...not a good story line but usualy its hard for the 3 sequence. Also i thought fox would of done a much better job. I was pissed at the end when prime killed mega tron in 5 sec. when they have been fighting each other for the past 2 movies..should of had a much more epic and longer fight scene. The effects where much better in this one, though if it had a better story line it would have been a great film.

Transformers is supposed to be a philosophically challenging sci-fi theme about consciousness and power. The old Transformer cartoons & comics always had a moral framework and a deep story. This action bling is a disgrace to the entire history of Transformers. The first one wasn't bad but now the sequels have no story they're just repeats of junk with bad acting. Shame. I won't see a "comic" movie ever again. Hollywood lost it after the first Matrix.

All movies deserve a place in the theatres, this one just happens to make a HUGE amount of money and that infuriates people, they think that all the dumb masses who flock to the film will eat up the product-placement, miliary propaganda etc. Intelligent people still enjoy these films for godsakes, its a visual and aural stimulant!

You realize these clips, set to this music, is an improvement, yes? The problem isn't that Bay's Transformers films aren't awesome; the problem is why he bothers to insert anything resembling the seed of a plot to begin with. Watch any of the Die Hard movies, or any of roger Moore's James Bond films. They're wonderful. By Bay even suggesting a seed of plot or hinting at a character arc before failing to follow through is the distraction; just edit that out and show destruction set to music!

The plot, ideas and storyline in the 3 part pilot for the cartoon was far cooler than that of all three of Michael Bays movies combined. I expect a movie with this type of budget to AT LEAST invest in trying to make it all coherent. Look at Batman Begins. It is based on a story that was developed to write comic books. Just as Transformers was written to sell toys. Except the stories in Transformers were 10x more bad ass than that of Batman comics. Why can't Transformers be written to be bad ass?

I too like all kinds of movies, but I like movies that actually have a plot, and a script, and coherent direction. Action is great and all (who doesn't like explosions) but I can't stand movies that are JUST explosions and boobs. In all fairness, Michael Bay is a hit and miss, who in my opinion has had far more misses than hits as of late.

Kindof reminds me of the promos for Expendibles... they also made me pumped for some awesome. Too bad that I couldn't see any of the awesome in that film because of how he shot it. But at least Bay knows how to shoot explosions and carnage in a way that let's me enjoy it to the fullest.
So here's to hoping that Bay forgets all about the clusterf*** of the last movie and has concentrated on not distracting us from the gist of his mastery.

The problem isn't that Transformers isn't deep enough.
The problem is that Transformers is tragically incompetent in nearly all areas of execution other than the CGI. Shia LaBeouf's character is the single most annoying protagonist I've ever witnessed in a film.
Spending 3/4 of your giant robots movie on terribly written human characters = bad movie.

But to me, it's just ridiculous that this man and his horrid filmmaking style have been allowed to flourish. And just to echo one of the current top comments, it is entirely possible to make a "summer blockbuster" that satisfies both the need for action and an engaging story.
