The story behind this song: When Eithne bought her castle she & Roma Ryan could feel the presence of a young girl's spirit. After some research they discovered that a young girl had died in the castle. So Eithna wrote the music and Roma wrote the lyrics of this song for her in her honor. So this is truly a hauntingly beautiful song. I firmly believe if people only knew the stories behind half the songs Eithne and Roma have written there would've been far more of their CDs and singles sold.

I was listening to this with my sister when we felt our apartment shaking. I thought it was just me but i realised it was an earthquake... I ran to my dad and he got up from the bed. It soon settled down and we switched on the tv for the news on it. The whole situation with Enya's song was...i had goosebumps. I realise death is something that can happen to anyone when we're least expecting. And at that moment, i wasn't jealous, i wasn't angry. I wasn't sad, I was afraid. Life is beautiful. . .
I think she looks younger for her age because she lives her life at a much higher frequency that the majority of the popuation. This means less stress, sickness and higher optimism. There would be less violence in the streets if people would control their ego, anger and hatred. Songs like this remind me of how small we are and how humbly we should live our lives.

as a young boy i remember my villa in Spain and the streets all my friends and I loved. There was some quality there, perhaps it felt like always being naked. Then we would return all of us to my house late in the night and listen to enya, of course our speaker quality was really really good for 1990s, and we all would share some form of deep love.

I played this song at the funeral of my 3 year old daughter who died waiting for a heart transplant. It was beyond coincidence that I found this song. We played Enya almost 24x7 in her room for weeks while we were there, but I only found this song after she passed. I am speechless. Isabelle translates to "Consecrated to God" (also Dedicated to God, solemnly set aside for a higher purpose) and my daughter was truly 'consecrated to God' and shall forever be.

@mrclean2022 Yeah, me too. Enya has "taught" me Irish through the music, I was singing Deora ar mo Chroi when I was 5, and gradually you learn what the words mean. I think it'd be neat for people to hear it at my funeral, and only I know what it meant

Reference clannad. She's no fake, and she writes and performs most of her music herself. Skill. She may not have the best pipes, like Loreena McKennitt, but she makes up for it in the richness of her songwriting. Writing to her strengths instead of her weaknesses is laudable.

@xevaral Why people think that overdubbing is wrong, or fakery, or whatever... If it makes great music, which this is, then who cares if it's electronic. Like violins grow on trees, or they mine the earth for raw pianos. Music is created and constructed. Great music as well.

@49128 I know God loves me, he's everywhere and I can't avoid his existence. But I don't love mankind enough, I'm still not evolved enough to feel love for those who try to harm us. And I resent you say "whining". I don't do it. I bark my anger against people who don't stay quiet. Why should we be quiet? I have stopped thiefs from beating and old man in the street. They scaped. @JosephSeraph That is so sweet! My older and younger daughter shared a room and the song that put the little one to sleep was Rufus Wainwright "Hallelujah". Not exactly a lullaby. She also liked "Flora's Secret". I have another baby daughter in heaven named "Isobella" (spelled the same way), so this is extra special.

I played this song at the funeral of my 3 year old daughter who died waiting for a heart transplant. It was beyond coincidence that I found this song. We played Enya almost 24x7 in her room for weeks while we were there, but I only found this song after she passed. The lyrics are close to my heart and this is quite possibly the most beautiful song that has ever been written and sung. Oh, and my daughter's name is Isabelle... Thank you Enya, we love you.

@shaeso That really blows my mind. The translations go even further for me now. They were perfect for my daughter's funeral and if this story is true, the lyrics are truly beyond wonder for me. I am speechless. Isabelle translates to "Consecrated to God" (also Dedicated to God, solemnly set aside for a higher purpose) and my daughter was truly 'consecrated to God' and shall forever be.

I'm so very happy that as Angelic a talent that Enya is was listening to that voice of God within and shared this song for you. It has inspired me to take songs that I have written over the years that have come into my heart singing in full chorus with words, melody and vision and take them and if they are a message that helps one person as it has for you - that is all the reward I could ever want

@mrclean2022 Yeah, me too. Enya has "taught" me Irish through the music, I was singing Deora ar mo Chroi when I was 5, and gradually you learn what the words mean. I think it'd be neat for people to hear it at my funeral, and only I know what it meant

@mrclean2022 And, actually, it's about the peaceful ghost child in Enya's castle that Roma and Enya feel around. The lyrics are just, "I do bheatha, sa tus sa deireadh, is in our lives, beginning to end. then Isobella, Oh. The chorus is I do la is tu go samh, which is In your day you were peaceful. so it shows how when this girl was living, she was without fear, sorrow, and had a lovely life :)
