You know, this Zodiac isn't "new". It's the Sidereal Zodiac. It's existed for a while. This isn't anything big. It's just making a big deal out of something that's... already been around.
There are two Zodiacs, and if you live in a place with the Tropical Zodiac then your sign hasn't changed. I live in the US, and the US uses Tropical, so I'm still a Scorpio.

There are two zodiacs, the Tropical Zodiac, which stays the same (under that, you're a Pisces) and the Sidereal Zodiac, which changes (under that, you're an Aquarius). I'm a Tropical Scorpio, and a Sidereal Libra. I'm more like a Scorpio, but I'm like a Libra, too, just not as much.
Plus, the fact that the sun will align with the center of the Milky Way shouldn't mean anything anyways. Nothing happens when it aligns with anything else. :P

@rwiddow That's really not it at all. The Age of Aquarius has been beginning. Like the starting of a massive engine in which years of our time are the seconds it takes for it start up. Once it begins (presumably completely in 2012) we will not only have several new planets moving into our stratosphere but we will also have Ophiucan energy. We have always had undercurrents of all of them but now is when they come to the forefront of our consciousness because Aquarius, is all about change&equality

Before the Romans bastardised the calendar, it was a 13 month calendar. We have not had a natural calendar since. The Lunar month is the true natural month, 28 days, the same as the female cycle. 365/13=28.076.

... no, there are multiple zodiacs.
Ophiuchus is a constellation that can be found on a star chart between Scorpio and Sagittarius.
beneath Ophiuchus you'll find Hercules then Draco then Ursa Minor followed by Camelopardalis, Auriga and Orion, at the opposite of the sky.
2012 is the year of the Dragon, if i'm not mistaken.
however, according to jcali619 only the Western astrology is relevant, so maybe i'm wrong.

This comes up every few years and is absurd. No one's sign has changed. Astrology is not based on the positions of the CONSTELLATIONS but on the seasons, the Equinoxes and the signs of the same name along the Ecliptic. This is like saying astronomers are born under the sign of "the little dipper"! The signs of the zodiac are different from the CONSTELLATIONS. This is very old news; any decent astrologer knows about precession - it dates back to 230 BCE. Ask any New York Astrologer.

If you followed the Western fixed zodiacs (12 horoscope), signs haven't changed. Ophiuchus only applies to the Sidereal (moving) zodiac. So if you are a follower of The 12 Zodiacs, then, our the signs are still the same. hurray! (I'm still Sagittarius not a friggin Ophiuchus) ;D
And- the world doesn't end in 2012, it was a miscalculation. It ends in 2220.
