As much as these two characters are different I'd like to compare this comic's split (split as in #1-3 Vs #4-6 because these are two vastly different stories being told) in a Catwoman analogy.
It starts off like Julie Newmar: a timeless classic full of sex appeal and fun. It ends off like Halle Berry: a barrage of f-bombs followed by ruin and sterile themes.
It's the best AND worst thing to happen to Felicia Hardy. A great example of how to write, and not to write, a comic.
Great take on this famous story. I'm glad it took Kevin Smith years to finish because that led to him NOT taking over ASM, which I would have hated, Smith is very lazy and messes up continuity sometimes. Although it wouldn't have been worse than what that ass Quesada did, I happened to like JMS' run on ASM.
This was a great story I really liked it best Black Cat story I ever read. A great Spidey story. Kevin Smith just needs to get on the ball and finish what he writes
nice review. Hey if your into a serious spiderman comic, you should definitely pick up spiderman: BLUE by Jeph loeb (which im sure you probably have). One question though, does black cat get raped by klum? Cause I only have book 2 and 3 and I dont know what happens after klum teleports the heroin in her body.
Spider-Man: Blue is awesome regardless of Jeph Loeb. It's an awesome story in its own right. Anyone to not read it because of the writer is ignorant to true Spidey stories, and not a true believer anyways.
No Black Cat doesn't get raped by Klum, something happens to intervene that event, you'll just have to read the rest of the story. Pick up the TPB
I don't know if you've seen the movie "vulgar" by smith's best friend bryan johnsson. this movie is also about rape and in his intensity really unique. i wouldn't say that vulgar is over-all a very good film, but the way it works with the themativ of "raping and vengeance" was just brilliantly done. i don't know when smith's spider-man run came out, but i could think that he was partly inspired by bryan johnsson's take on the "rape" climax.
i've done some research (no shit) and found out that vulgar was released in the year 2000. so maybe bryan inspired kev in some aspects of the storyline.
No way. He's clearly and entirley his own person. Much like Kyle Rayner. They are excepted because they are such great characters. Not just pale immitations.
I hated how Superman was portrayed in JLU as just being a asshole and was the complete opposite of Superman in the comics. WW was worse because Bruce Timm and co did a grave disservice to her by making her hostile, trigger happy, unlikable (almost to the point of being a villain), haughty and only fixated for a date with Batman in the JLU which by the way I'm strongly against the whole BM/WW as couple crap.
I don't know on Wonder Woman I don't really read her.
Superman of the JLU is older and tired. He's seen all this before. And he knows it's not going away. So it makes him on edge. It's a diffrent take on Superman. But a natural progression from Superman the animated series.
Well, now that I can go to places like Hastings and stuff like that I can pick up the comics, but after hearing about some of the story lines...I just don't want to
There's upsides and downsides to that. The cartoons will never have stories as good as teh comics. But it probably won't have stories as bad ether. You should just pick up good ones and see how you like them. Avoid the ones everyone says are really bad (One More Day, Clone Saga, House of M, Red Hulk)
the reason that black cat exists is cuz she was raped by klum i think she soon got angry and kicked his ass

No he doesn't.

Well Vulgar came out in '96 I belive. While Spider-man Black cat came out in liek '02
I've not seen Vulgar tho. So maybe it inspired Kevin.

Oh ok. I thought it was older. Yeah that's deffinitly a possability.

hey, have you seen the Transformers 2 teaser trailer? What do you think about it?
melediv 3 years ago
I have. Looks like more flash and still no substance or characters.

I thought they did Wally West better because in the comics he basically just Barry Allen clone meaning his personality is nothing unique.

No way. He's clearly and entirley his own person. Much like Kyle Rayner. They are excepted because they are such great characters. Not just pale immitations.
blowshimselfupdude 3 years ago
That's what I'm saying is that Wally West didin't really feel like his own character as Kyle Rayner did. He just felt like a Barry Allen clone.
That's just my personal opinion.
raporfest 3 years ago
I thought he was a great character personally. Perticuarly in the Geoff Jones run on the book. In JLU he's just kind of the funny guy.
blowshimselfupdude 3 years ago
The cartoons are better in some characterizations of certain characters like Mr. Freeze, HawkGirl, Wally West, and John Stewart.
However in some cases the cartoons portray the characters poorly like Wonder Woman and Superman were completly out of character in JLU.
raporfest 3 years ago
Mr. Freeze yes. John Stewart no. they basicly wrote Hal Jordan but made him black. Wally West NO WAY. Idk about Hawkgirl.
I didn't think Wonder Woman or Superman were that bad.

I actually don't have comics. All the stuff I know about Marvel and DC I know through the cartoons. So yeah

Lucky you. I have to live with crap like One More Day/Brand New Day.
