I'm very sorry to say that all reports to me were that David "Sane" Smith died sometime before 1993. The rumor was he fell off a bridge or something w. tagging. I do not know the family well enough to have learned the true story. I can tell you I heard this from multiple sources who went to the same high school (HCHS in NYC), around 1992. I doubt it's a false rumor and am fairly certain that he is no longer with us and hasn't been for 20 years or so. Maybe he's hangin w Jim Morrison in Peru.

I knew Smith as a small child. We played together in Wash Hts when we were like 4 tears old. We also went to HS together briefly. I was very sad to hear of his passing, back when, and always happy when I run across an old tag. I hope his family is doing well.

Back in 1987 I was at Euclid Ave when the CCs would come from the bronx. There was this big fiery Sane car followed by an icy Smith whole car. Then there was another Smith married couple on the J line at 111 layup in 88. It was most likely another bronx production because there was throw ups against Trim on the other side.
