Dr Murphy was one of my Jr High English teachers in the early 80s - "Future Society" was the name of the class. He had a bootleg video of Star Wars that we watched over a couple days worth of class. One of the coolest teachers I ever had. I was saddened to hear of his passing.
"Mr. Murphy" as I knew him when he was my English teacher back in 1977, was one of the best teachers and friends to me. We shared a lot of laughs over being Italian and Star Wars..he took me and my friends to the first Star Wars Convention and we had the time of our lives at such a young age. He was an extraordinary man and teacher. Rest in heavenly peace Dr. Murphy.

The Murphy family thanks you for a very touching video. My brother went home to be with the Lord with his family by his side & the biggest smile on his face. Geno was laid to rest at sea in Oceanside, California on July 6th. We will miss him dearly. He was the most loving, caring, generous, kindess person ever. See you at the Celebration of Life honoring my brother on 9/15/07 at 10:00am at Gabrielino High. God Bless and always remember that my brother is smiling down on all of you.

I just want to say "Thank You" for everything that you have done for GHS. You always supported the theatre arts department like no other principle. You made me want to explore my talents and encouraged all of us every step of the way. I never thanked you properly when you rented out the auditorium to my mom's performing arts company. I truly believe you will leave an everlasting impression on every person that has crossed paths with you. Rest in peace.

He was a really great man. He always seemed serious but he was actually really nice once you got to the inside. Of all of the prinicipals that I've had through out elementary and middle and high schools, no one can compare to Dr. Murphy. He cared about his students so much more than anyone else.
This guy was pretty awesome. It's definately a tragic he passed away. He had done so much for the school because he wanted everyone to succeed. I remember he treated us dinner after a CIF vball game and came to support every sport team out there. His nonstop support motivated everyone. He will be missed!
Dr.Murphy will be forever watching over Gabrielino becuase this was and always will be his school. RIP Dr. Murphy, we will miss you- Xavier Sanchez(12)
I can't believe that he's gone. It's hearbreaking to think that we'll never hear his voice over the intercom again; that our captain is truly soaring with the eagles now. It hurts to know he left us behind, but he is in a better place now.
He's treated me like a son since I came to the school. We've gone to Washington, San Francisco, Oregon. We watched plays and movies. His apartment is practically bare, because he spends all his time at school. Nothing meant more to him. I wish everyone knew that. - David Bryan

In your remembrance we pray, for those who must grieve, and for those forced to continue from this loss. We must now embrace this pain and sorrow and burn this as fuel for a new journey. He may have left us physically but, he will always be soaring in our hearts like an eagle. He truly the most extraordinary eagle of them all.
