This piece is typical (and Bernstein captured it so well)of people who think they can sing but can't. Very nice satire on the mindless drivel of so called singers who think they can recite a musical poem (song) but can't for too much of them gets in the way.

I reminds me of people who love to sing but are not so talented: isn't that tragic?....LOL

And also what I think is smart in this song: The fact that the composer was inspired by the false sounds of an untalented person, but did a very good omposition with unusual sounds in it.:P

watch your vowels (especially the oo in music), and your dynamics starting on each phrase in the fast sections should start mp and end f with accents on music!

i agree with brdwaybaby12 that you're rushing the a tonal sections, but maybe that's because you don't know them and you're singing the wrong notes.

you have huge potential though, keep practicing, and get a new accompanist!

Good high notes! I am singing this song for contest this year. I feel like you are rushing through the accapella sections because you don't know the notes, which you are not hitting. My teacher also foud the original recording of Bernstien playing this song, and the middle is a whole lot faster!!
