I live in Kansas RIGHT by the state line of Oklahoma, and my accent is waaaay thicker than yours! I've been to Wichita a lot though and I very rarely hear people who's accent is as strong as mine or my family's, or anyone who lives here... Guess it just depends on where in Kansas you live!
I love it! I just spoke to someone today who is from Kansas (and I didn't know at first) and I really wondered when this guy started talking to me, if he was from Ireland. To me it sounds like you got a hint of an Irish accent. Any Irish person reading, please don't be offended, this is just my opinion.
Hey just wanted to say I like yr accent, it's not too harsh or too soft. I'm British and we have a lot of accents too, I'll post a video response, let me know what you think :)
You're so lucky i wanna go back to Wichita! (was born in Wellington though.) But i moved to Alabama lived here since third grade I'm in eighth now. Sorry i just got excited to see someone from Wichita. Gosh i miss Kansas!
im from texas but have lived in kansas for 7 years and my accent is similar to this one. i never developed a real thick southern accent, and most kansans dont have a southern accent. its kind of neutral. now im getting ready to move to arkansas and i have a feeling that accent will really start to wear on me haha
supposedly, some of us from wichita have a problem with over pronouncing the h in wh words (such as "white") and we also have a twangy a, plus we have this thing where we pronounce i's in words more like an eh sound ( as in we prounounce "pin" as "pen" or "sit" as "set") thats all i got :) toodles!
i was born in KS (Wichita) and moved out to NorCal a decade ago...thats when i discovered my accent. it's mostly gone now, but i'm told every now and again it pops out :)
woo hoo I live in Wichita too! It is strange because listening to you I realize I still can't hear an accent. Maybe because i'm also from wichita and my accent is exactly like yours
I'm British (English) but my boyfriend is from north east Kansas. You pronounce some words a lot like he does. It's a lovely accent. It's very clear but it also has character and warmth; maybe because, like others have said, it's ever so slightly 'country' sounding but still quite light and easy to understand.
Ha go Kansas people:DDD woot woot! I really wish I could tell our accents because I mean you notice other states accents except your own state's. Im from Shawnee soo yeahh. Go kansas:D
To me (the 'someone else') you have a quintessential American accent. :) If I were trying to learn how to speak with an American accent, I'd definitely copy you! :D You've got a pleasant voice, too. :)
@OmniPictures no problem. thanks for the opportunity!(: well, that's cool to hear, I went and listened to how I said it and I can't tell. wish I could though!
and why thank you :D I'd much rather hear your accent over mine!
I'm from Wichita too :DD You have a more Cali twang than I do, tho. Still, Kansas WOOTWOOT :P
