@raccoonxeyesxx oh that balance. i actually liked it that she's wobbling. it adds to the feeling that it's really that difficult. when i first saw this and that balance, i was holding my breathe and was freaking nervous how long can she last doing that balance. and what a sigh of relief that it's over. haha. btw, i love it that she held up her working leg up that high, which added more difficulty.

@yvesyvezz The ballet done in the last part was danced by Sarah Lane, a soloist for the American Ballet Theatre which makes her a step below the ballet equivalent of an Oscar winner, that's why it was so impressive :) I'm not saying this to sound nasty or mean but I spent 8 years of my life in ballet and can tell the difference between amateur moves(Natalie Portman) and a professional moves (Sarah Lane). The movie very much was an insult to the ballet world in many ways.

Stunning- pure art. 4:47 is amazing! I think that what separates her work from other dancers of her time is her ability to act AND have perfect technique... she gets so into her roles! When they say ballet should look effortless, ^ thats it!

Marianela is perfection and I love her Odile!! Thiago is not an equal match for Marianela, although his technique is quite OK, his dancing looks "heavy"and does not come with the same ease as Marianela's.

I saw Nunez dance Odette/Odile just a month ago in London, and of course she was wonderful. What really impressed me though was how different the performance I saw vs. her performance here on film. There were all sorts of nuances emphasized differently, and she looked to be developing the characters of both swans more than ever before. Some dancers you see one performance of and you've seen them all but not Marianela.

Brilliant interpretation by Nunez , whic h I saw live. Reminded me so much of Natalia Makarova's version - 'Your place or mine?' to seduce him and then the fluttering as Odette when she & pop think they are losing him. All the great ones make you forget technique - which is how it should be. Rothbart is the evil character - Odile has to be a whore and a virgin! Many thanks for posting.

@ValentinaMandarina, I agree with you 100%. She does not deliver the character. Great technique, nevertheless I realized that I was getting bored as the video progressed. She uses the type of phrases and gestures that one expects to see from the Sleeping Beauty or Medora and here it's simply wrong. It could bad coaching. In contrast, the 2nd act was brilliant, beautiful gestures. Her face reflected the character convincingly. At times, she even was sensual. Not to mention the superb technique.

My first impression when watching her interpretation was "where is the evilness?!",but I have to admit that hers is one of the best! Her Odile is not just pure evil-she's clever. After all, how can Siegfried believe it's his beloved Odette if she looks like the incarnation of evil? Marianela's Odile is a subdued, quiet type of vicious-she mocks his love for Odette(I especially love her borroues at 4:17) and seduces and teases him! i love it! She is a wonderful actress!

Odette is under Von Rothbarts spell and only takes a human form at night. The spell is broken when an fathful love bond is made to her (Prince Siegfried) and if the faithful vow of love is broken, she stays a swan forever. Von Rothbart attempts to keep Odette cursed & disguises Odile, his daughter, as odette tricking Sigfried into declaring his love for her. Odette then dies to release herself and sigfried commits suicide also so they can be together. Enjoy the ballet!! :)
