  • This is the closest a man experience divinity on this planet. Jai ho didi, jai ho!

  • Very very beautiful Ghazal ,sung sooo sweetly by Lata ji. Hearing her Marathi songs, i feel she is best in rendition in her language. Each line she sings in her Nectar Dripped voice. Thanks SJ. Ji. w.R. Sarla.

  • well dear sir , this does not sound like a ghazal to me . it sounds like a divine bhajan to me , more like the meera bhajans lataji has rendered under the baton of hridayanath mangeshkar . this rendition and composition reminds me of those meera bhajans you have uploaded previously .

thanks a lot for this wonderful sweet song sir .

  • SB's lyrics contain rich sensual images worthy of the romantic poetry of Kalidasa. Yet HM's melody and LM's voice turned the song into a transcendent experience, almost akin to some of our best spiritual music. This is the kind of song that Meera could have ardently sung as an expression of her attachment to Krishna. Your translation is very evocative of that kind of sensual-spiritual fusion. Thanks, SJ.

  • @chamogaa. Frankly, I don't see anything but a very fleeting similarity in some notes of Lataji's rendition and MH's. It's a thin and segmented likeness, not at all like the melodic arrangement being similar throughout . And Lataji's song has a slower tempo , many elongated phrases, and very different ascents and descents. Are the raaga roots the same in both? I am no expert on raagas, but various alankaars can make a big difference to my ears. Lataji's song is filled with them.

  • @chamogaa I agree! There is some superficial similarity, but it is not a copy.

  • This is great! Thanks for the upload. Listen to the similar tune by Mehandi Hassan. Search "Ab ke hum bichray - Mehdi Hassan - " on youtube. Malvun tak is taken from this gazal.

  • @avinashdesai There is some superficial similarity, but it is not a copy.

  • @SJisBack Sudhir ,this is the same raag what we call in India is Mangal Bhairav . Also someone has mentioned mehdi hassans song here. He is right .Mehdi Hassan's song ab ke hum bichhade is also based on this raag except in avaroha mehdi hassan has used both dhaivats which is little different.

    Harish

  • @amrutvani2 Thanks Harish for you info. I had not heard of this variation of raag Bhairav.

    Sudhir

  • I suggest you to also listen to Mangal Bhairav by Begum Parveen Sultana. The composition in teentaal

"Dhaye Dhaye" is also very beautiful.

  • @amrutvani2 bhairav and malvun tak deep!

  • such a gem is why being subscribed to SJ is so necessary!
