  • This question doesn't even require thinking. Phantom/Erik

  • i think erik(phantom) is some much better every move and every sound he makes is better

christine was so dumb for leaving him

if i was in her position i would run away with erik and make little phantom babies

  • the PHANTOM DUH

  • heh. Raoul's got weird bug eyes. Ever notce, right before he goes into Christine's dressing room, Andre and Firmin get his attention and he turns around, and he looks soo effin creepy xD

Also, after he kisses Christine... he looks creepy.

Erik is cooler than a sack of potatos, and believe me, in my world... potatoes are sacred xD

  • THE PHANTOM!!!!! <3<3

  • I am not going to keep arguing about this. And I am only speaking of the 2004 &1990 films when I say Erik is NOT a murderer, he only killed in self defense and you clearly see this and you see he truly loves Christine more than life itself. The 1988 POTO, he's a murderer but the 1990 and 2004 films are romance and he never intended to kill people. He only loves and wants to be loved.

  • I also want to apologize if I did offend anyone but this has to be known that the 1990 & 2004 films are not the novel and do not show Erik as a psychopath. If that were true, it would be a horror film. The 1925 film is more horror and it's in the horror section in stores. So please stop with all this "Oh I could never be with Erik because he would only do harm" in the 2004 version because that is so not true! This is all I will say about this.

  • He did NOT kill in self-defense! He killed because it was more convenient for him. He may not be a psycopath, but he's still a murderer! He DID love Christine, in ALL versions('cept of course the Herbert Lom version and to an extent the 1943) but he still murdered for her! He was a little insane, but that's simply because life was a bitch to him and it drove him mad. Which is why he murders thoughlessly! You call Piangi and Buquet's deaths self defense? No! He murdered him because it was easier.

  • Oh and something else I wanted to add: he DID NOT want to kill anyone!! I'm only speaking for the 2004 and 1990 films. He is love itself!! STOP talking like he's Charles Manson for God's sake!!

  • Ys, Erik is a murderer, but he woulden't hurt Christine because only her can make his song take flight! I think that Raoul is a really good persond and he loves Chistine, but Erik need to be love more than Raoul! So I would have choose Erik (2004, Gaston Leroux,1990 and all the other versions) I love you Erik!

  • Wow many choose Erik as I will choose him his a cute guy for me(only)and you do not need to create a poll because everyone will choose Erik of course and Erik teach Christine how to sing so many years(showing his love for Christine)but Christine choose Raoul I will not do that to him....

    Erik all the way!!!

    all hail Erik

  • I don't know why people think Erik is a murderer and would hurt Christine. That couldn't be further from the truth but whatever. He only killed in self defense which was only one person. People can think what they want but I know for a fact Erik loves Christine more than anything and that's why he let her go. He sacrificed everything for Christine!

  • Untrue. In the book he totures people to death for fun. Even in the show he killed Piangi just to get him out of the way. He killed FOR her. I wouldn't love anyone who was obsessive enough to kill FOR me.

  • I'm talking about the 1990 and 2004 films where Erik is shown to NOT be a murderer and to love Christine so much that he let her go!

  • He ALWAYS loved her enough to let her go. And he WAS a murderer in the 2004 movie. He was in the musical as well. He murders Piangi because it's easier and he does so thoughtlessly. He killed Buquet for Christine. He WAS a murderer.

  • Everyone saying he was a murderer in the 2004 film is delusional!! He only killed in self defense! Gosh, you are talking like this is a horror film and he's like Jason or Freddy!!

  • He didn't want to in the 1990 version, but in the 2004 remember the line 'he kills without a thought'? He kills without a thought! He wasn't love itself! He may not be Freddy but he stills murders and doesn't give a damn. And it wasn't in slef-defense. He could've done ANYTHING to Buquet. He could've knocked Piangi out. He murdered and he is a murderer. Stop trying to defend Gerry because he was HAWT and tragic and you wanted Christine to go with him. He did have a reason to be muderous though.

  • DER!!!! ERIK all the way!!!

Raoul looks lyk a girl and he puts ribbons in his hair!?!?! Why would a guy put ribbons in his hair???

Also Erik is a genius and Raoul is just a crumby vicomte

  • Erik. Definitely.

I know that most phangirls I've run into choose The Phantom over Raoul because they see him as Gerard Butler with a very mildly "disfigured" face. However... the REAL Erik--from the original novel--is hardly like Gerry's Phantom at ALL. (Sorry to burst your bubbles.) :) He's a thousand times more horrifying. I love the original Erik... but I wouldn't want to marry him. I don't think you would either, if you've read the novel. :) I still sympathize with him over Raoul, though.

  • I've read the novel. Several times. I still would marry Erik. But I'm an extremely weird person, so my opinion doesn't really show whether the average phangirl would marry Leroux!Erik...:]

  • I should say this: if I were in Christine's position at the end of the novel, I WOULD have willingly agreed to marry Erik (I hope--no doubt Christine's decision was a very difficult one to make)... but I honestly don't think it would have been as bad as it seemed. :) He really is a dear... AND we could sing duets together day in and day out.... *happy sigh* We could make beautiful music together--literally!! :)

  • Phantom/Erik all the way!!

  • Of Course ERIK/ PHANTOM

PLS my sis(154558835) also votes PHANTOM thnks.:)

  • Now while I hate the movie, I'll make my basis on the show. I'd go with Raoul. I'm SURE if you were in Christine's position, you'd go with the homocidal maniac, rather than the sweet boy, who risked his life for you.

  • Here's the part that's hard. Even though many may think Raoul is a fop and a weakling, he really isn't a weakling. He truly loves Christine and risked his life for her. In real life, The Phantom would be a terrible, horrible, malicious murderer and stalker. It would be frightening. Although, that really isn't his fault. Dsipite all this, Raoul does not understand how the phantom feels, even though he knows his story. Therefore, the Phantom. He needs love!!!

  • That's an accurate summary of the characters, Rose. Well said! Thanks! :)

Here's my personal opinion/commentary: Raoul is not a weakling, and he really does love Christine, so I do like him in that regard. However... Raoul treats the Phantom as a monster instead of a human being and never shows him compassion. THAT is why I DON'T like Raoul and why I DO pity Erik.

I pretty much said what you just said above... only in different words. :) No offense--I didn't mean to steal your thunder.

  • Oh, no problem, Mask! :) You didn't steal my thunder! Raoul is just like everyone else in the community; he's probably a very nice guy, but he's too terrified of the Phantom and what he may do to Christine to see the reason WHY he acts that way. In Gaston Leroux's masterpeiece, as you probably already know, Christine is actually the REAL hero, as she didn't see him as a monster. She was terrified of him, yes, but she also had compassion for him and pity for him.

  • Hehehe... I ran out of room... so, in my mind, Gaston Leroux did an amazing job. He didn't go with the typical fairy tale style. he didn't personify the Phantom as just some villian who wanted the girl and to wreak havoc on people's lives, he didn't make Raoul a brave knight on a white steed, and he didn't make Christine a naive girly girl. He made them those things, but he gave them all flaws and such so they seemed more human. That's what I love about Gaston Leroux. :)

  • True indeed! Raoul IS a sweet guy, and his devotion to Christine is admirable (albeit childish--in a good way). I just wish he could have seen past Erik's monstrousness and seen the tortured human being he is.... A big part of it was because he saw Erik as a rival, so that made him pretty biased. Still.... :(

Yes, Christine IS the real hero(ine)! :) It's so good to hear somebody else say that! :) I think the Persian deserves some credit too--he had compassion on Erik as well. (Yay, Daroga!) :)

  • raoul! erik is gorgeous, except he's obsessive, dark, and troubled. he would only end up hurting christine. raoul is also gorgeous. and he truly loves christine and is not obsessed with her like the phantom is

  • Actually it's the other way around. Erik would NEVER hurt Christine. He loves her more than life itself! He is not obsessed. If anyone would hurt Christine, it would be Raoul. Erik and Christine are soulmates and were meant for each other.

  • I prefer Erik than Raoul.

  • ERIK EVERY TIME

  • ERIK ERIK ERIK alllllllllllll the way!

I don't hate Raoul in the least, but I almost wish the love triangle didn't exist!

And Gerard Butler is cute. But seriously, character-wise, Phantom's the way to go.

  • i fall for Erik ;);)

  • phantom!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ERIK!!!!!!! WOOOOOOOOOO

  • Definately The Phantom! I love him and not just cause it's Gerry!

  • Hmmmm... that's a hard one. I think I'd actually have to go with Raoul.

  • Erik. He has such an amazing voice, and he's sooo romantic! Now, if there were guys that were romantic and had his voice, I'd be all over them. xD

  • I KNOW WHAT YOU MEAN!!

  • I'd choose Erik. This because he is sexy and sweet and romantic and dangerous. But I also prefer him because Christine is his only chance at love. I know Raoul loves Christine, but he can still have love without her. I think Raoul's awesome cuz he risks his life for her but I prefered Erik from the beginning. End of story

  • I LOVE ERIK!!!!!!! = D

  • Erik! Raoul just simply pales in comparrison.

  • I like Raoul, but I think I'd have to go with Erik

  • Erik, definately. I'm not the kind to hate on Raoul, but he's no Erik.

  • nothing wrong with Raoul, i like him 2, but i definitley choose Erik<3

  • I knew this would be no contest.

And I know that I'm gonna get something thrown at me too, but despite the fact that I love Erik, I'd have to choose Raoul. He's so sweet and kind and he truely loves Christine over everything else. I mean he risked his life for her several times and put her own safety above his own life! And even though he made some silly mistakes (come on! Who doesn't screw up from time to time?) it just shows he's human. So yeah, sorry, but I'd have to pick Raoul.

    *hides*

  • It's pretty obvious. Erik. ^_^

  • Erik ALL THE WAY!!

  • DEFINITLEY ERIK!

  • Ummm Hmmm...........ugh....this is a hard one...hmmmmm... No it's not! Erik ALL THE WAY! He is Cool, sexy, and doesn't have girl hair!lol He is th only one who can make Christine feel dizzy when he walks in a room...raoul doesn't...see? I didn't capitalize his name... he doesn't deserve it!

  • erik for to mny reasons to write!

  • Erik naturally! He's so powerful, passional, intelligent and beautiful. No matter how he looks like he's just beautiful inside!

    I love Erik!

  • I second that!!

  • Erik of course! He's so romantic and passionate and he loves Christine more than life itself and would do anything for her! Erik is love itself! There are many other reasons why but there's not enough room to post it all. Just know that Erik and Christine belong together and if I were Christine, I could never leave him!

  • I second that also haha Erik all the way :)
