I am sure Norway isn't a bad place to live. I am just pretty skeptical about their welfare state being sustainable. I could be wrong but I hear even some of the Norwegians politicians say you guys have to cut back. But you should be okay for another 50 years or so.

Norway is not unique in their problems; the US has those same issues. In comparison, Norway has more positive than the US. The issues inherent in the world will never completely disappear. While more could and should be done about beggars and addicts, the rest of the statistics show that Norway is indeed superior. Maybe not "the best" but better than the US at least.

I am sure Norway isn't a bad place to live. I am just pretty skeptical about their welfare state being sustainable. I could be wrong but I hear even some of the Norwegians politicians say you guys have to cut back. But you should be okay for another 50 years or so.

We pay high taxes with very little going toward our infrastructure. So much of the tax money is spent on drug addicts and fatherless children, yet we can't go into a store without people ringing a bell in our faces... expecting us to give more.

For this reason, Norway tries to get exploration contracts for oil in Middle East and Africa, but norwegian oil companies can not compete with the biggest american ones and even the french such as TOTAL. Therefore, norwegians get limited sharing contracts in Iraq and Angola, but this is still not enough for the future of Norway. Do not believe that another energy can replace oil.

Norway is not unique in their problems; the US has those same issues. In comparison, Norway has more positive than the US. The issues inherent in the world will never completely disappear. While more could and should be done about beggars and addicts, the rest of the statistics show that Norway is indeed superior. Maybe not "the best" but better than the US at least.

The so called inefficient communist economy had an equal place for the people who fall off the capitalist bandwagon. What people fail to realise is that while the Norwegian model was adept at reducing the problem BEFORE the age of mass immigration, privatisation/liberalisation/globalisation and open border policy to Eastern-Europe, the core problem is still the capitalist system.
