@jetpro88 This is video made from a sequence of still images. There is a cool freeware utility called "photolapse" (and others) that does this with JPG and other images. Cheers! =)
The music was made by me, the author of the video. The lens used in the videos was just the stock EF-S 18-55mm that comes with the camera. I use the Canon T2i mostly without any lens, since it is often connected at the prime focus of a telescope.
I don't see that the author answered many of the questions posted here. There is no real desire to share I guess or he doesn't visit here anymore. I suppose he used a f/1. 50 mm or a good f/x.x 10-20mm Sigma lens to capture so much details by night. I have seen lapses of 1 sec so this must have taken lots of pics. Also, Quicktime Pro does the stitching perfectly. Look around other places. You don't need Adobe Premiere or expensive software.
I didn't know you can get the stars with the sun out! I'm going to have to try that! Also, there is an intervolometer/timer cheaper on Amazon and it has a backlit lcd and can take 399 exposures! The model is RS-60E3. More features, cheaper, and works with my T2i. Cheers!
Great job! This is really relaxing to watch before going to sleep. Nice composition. The desert in the southwest must be beautiful at night! Wish Los Angeles was like this
@cmcthadon its with a timed remote control you can get off of ebay called a intervolometer they run from $20-about 100 depending on your camera.. its like a automatic shutter release.. set the timer to take photo every 1,2,3,4,5,10,20 etc seconds and then when you get all the images you want.. u then put the photos into a movie maker and hit play... cause the clips are small photos in a sense and depending on your settings you make some pretty kick arse movies like this one..
ive been some what skeptical if i should have a time lapse of the sun rise until it becomes bright enough (noonish) because im afraid that it might damage the sensor.
When you take a long exposure with the eos 550D, let's say 30s for example how long does it take until the exposure ends and you can take a new picture?
My current camera takes 30s exposure an other 30+5s to process the picture. Same for 10s exposure an other 10+5 to process.
@brutolf that sounds about right with most cameras. the longer your exposure the longer it takes to process. i thought it would be faster than that though o.O
@Roaningdotcom I have sold that one and bought an eos 550D, but I think my old camera(Casio EX-F1) did take a secound picture of equal length with the shutter closed and eliminated dead pixel spots. Don't know if you could turn that off but to late to bother now.
just wait for the final Magic lantern Firmware. It will have Interval Timer inside the Firmware like chdk. So there is no more need for an interval meter.
Wow, astonishing, makes me want to go to arizona man seeing the globe move like that....question, is there a difference in quality between the canon rebel 2ti and the canon 550D, because im seeing a cheaper price listed on the 550d...please anyone
My good sir, what a great video! I have recently purchased this camera, and I am starting to venture into this type of photography. However, I would appreciate it if you answered some questions I have! I would just like to know what type of battery you used when filming this - is it the standard LP-E8 that comes with the camera or an external battery pack? One more question, if you would - what do you set your white balance to when filming this to achieve that bluish type of look? Thx again!
So out of curiosity, after you record your pictures, how exactly would you stitch it together? Either in Final Cut Pro Or Adobe Premiere, or however you do it.
Hi! first of all hands off great video! such clear skies! anyway just wondering if you used the 18-55mm kit lens or did you use something different? also doesn't the t2i/550d have an interval shooting option to allow you to make stop motion videos? thanks
Cool video. I have the T2i as well and would like to get an intervalometer. I can't seem to find the specific one. Which did you get (model #?), and which connector does it take? Thanks and 73.
@wx5rp you can do this with the T2i if you go into the eos utility on your computer and connect the camera via usb the go into remote shoot and there is a stopwatch button, sometimes it doesnt light up so you have to change shooting modes. you can set a delay, number of shots, interval and the camera settings exposure, iso and other settings also you if you but the camera into bulb mode then you can set the exposure for different times aswell
I got my intervolometer from Dealextreme It works very well and simple. It sets exposure duration, time between frames, delay between photos, and number of exposures 01-99. When set to zero, it just keeps going until the camera's battery runs out.
Wow, deal extreme? Thats amazing, i never thought to look there, I've bought from there before, free shipping. My sister's husband bought a 25 cent magnet (free shipping from china) :) hehe I will buy one from there too then! Very cool video, I am buying my 550D any day now. I just can't wait any more...

@brutolf so the eos 550d processes a lot faster after a long shutter speed? it'd be a definite plus if that's the case.

Can you tell, about how many frames did you shot with the camera?
In my opinion, is no need to use and wear out a new DSLR camera on a job that can be made by a cheaper bridge camera.
In this way , you reach 100.000 shots in a few movies made.
