I think I remember seeing a special on ABC or another one of those worthless channels about some people with a rare disorder that had to take these pills of human blood plasma or ground up bone or something like that. I dont remember that much about it, but those people pretty much are real life vampires.
There is a disease where proteins build up in the system that react violently with ultraviolet light causing severe damage from exposure to sunlight. Transfusions of clean blood can clear the protein buildup and reduce the reaction to ultraviolet light and repair the anemia.
