Less revenue if it's spread more evenly is not a bad thing for anyone but stockholders. Look at it like this. If 20 people have 100 million dollars but 3 people have 80% of the wealth is it a better nation than if we have 70 million and 14 people have the same percenage. Everyone's better off. I mean really you already pay 33% 6% tax hike. if you make 300 grand you pay 18k more a year. That's not alot of money. You have to buy the S500 benz instead of the S600 benz. Are you serious?

Obama's tax plan makes sense to me. People earning more can afford to pay a bit more, and 3% is not huge tax hike. Immigrants are not likely the main reason wages would go down. Immigrants (illegal or legal) mean more people and a larger consumer base, thus more positions open for employment. If more positions did not open up then a smart/responsible employer would not randomly create extra positions for no reason (which would cause wages to be split). Mr. O'Reilly's logic has a big hole there.

On another note the trickle down approach does not work and has not been successful. Too often a good portion of richer people will hoard money for no reason or waste it. When the middle and lower wage earners do better so do the richer because it typically means that there is more wealth to go around.

I'll take that further. I do think people should be able to make and keep much more money than almost everyone else. I don't object to folks becoming wealthy.

But I also believe that anyone making $500k/year who's upset over taxes leaving $280k instead of $340k is vile. And those making seven figures who are steamed about keeping "only" in the upper sixes? Human garbage.

Media consolidation into the hands of ever-larger interests continues to weaken our insight. And endless cries of "liberal media" (never mind whether that has any merit) by conservatives has cast a spell of fearful paralysis over our journalists. Plus there's the potent direct influence of conservative pundits on the public.

Just for starters. I really don't know what the future holds. Maybe democracy, maybe fascism.

One other thing to consider for the moment: how far the supposed "center" of our public's political ideology spectrum has shifted to the right over the past few decades. What was centrist and moderate even in the late-70s is regarded practically as treasonous socialism now. And formerly fascistic right-wing lunacy is now perceived merely as "conservative."

You've got to hand it to folks like Reagan, Limbaugh, and Murdoch. They gave America one hard shove down Right Wing Alley.

My G*d that's trivial. Who cares if it's an "infomercial"? Call it whatever you want. How about a "marathon-mercial"? Or an "extended broadcast." What matters is the *information*. Watch and evaluate what is SAID. Then based on that information, either vote for the man or don't.

If your vote is really affected by something as irrelevant as the length of a candidate's commercials, regardless of which candidate, you're one of those people who in a sensible world wouldn't be allowed to vote.
