Thanks for the info. I noticed that my pecs were taking too much strain when benching higher up my torso; lowering the bar to where the chest meets the abdominals has kept the invigoration from worsening. Good advice!

breathe in, lift and THAN exhale. in another video he also made a point that if you lift slowly you lose power with fewer reps, and you will lose strength quicker if you exhale as you go up.

It seems easy but I have no ability to bring the bar down below like that, gets too much triceps I guess, I've been training pecs all the time (2~ yrs). So I prefer the stationary bar instead of the free one, or dumbbells.

Seems like alot of people are forgetting that a bench press is a COMPOUND exercise, not just a chest exercise. These tips will get you results, im 130 lbs. and following this i bench 215 :)
then do as me, use pecs mostly , that's easiest, when I try this advanced tech, I lose my breath when the bar gets down almost at my belly, even tho I try to hold my breath... I guess it's loads of tech training, I see ppl doing this very easy :O but pecs should be easier, less power tho

i consider proper form to be slow controlled motions.. in a more linear up and down motion for this exercise, but then i guess that part of the exercise is more up for debate so i was a bit out of place with my last comment
oh now i undestand you. Yeah, but you cant go linear if you put your elbows looking foward, is impossible. And trust me, i have done linear and the way this dude do it is the best. Linear will kill your shoulders in the long run. This way is better to recruit more muscles so you have more push power.
steve, this exercise is for different things. if your trying to put on mass you do slow and controlled with a lot of weight. if your trying to get cut you do this or if you are lifting for a sport you do this

im 5'7" and i have short ass arms. i hate it because i cant squeeze my shoulder blades together and take the bar off the rack at the same time so one shoulder blade ends up coming off the bench.

i got short arms too..but i can queeze my shoulders together..there must be sumthing wrong with u..or ur already squeezing ur shoulders

or your rack is closer to the bench then mine. or your bench is wider so your shoulders stay on easier or you have longer arms then me.... theres nothing wrong with me...

Well said. I rarely see ppl benching with proper technique. Ooops, did I say rarely? I ment never. Maybe should have mentioned something about legs and stability. Good tips man!

i consider proper form to be slow controlled motions.. in a more linear up and down motion for this exercise, but then i guess that part of the exercise is more up for debate so i was a bit out of place with my last comment

oh now i undestand you. Yeah, but you cant go linear if you put your elbows looking foward, is impossible. And trust me, i have done linear and the way this dude do it is the best. Linear will kill your shoulders in the long run. This way is better to recruit more muscles so you have more push power.

steve, this exercise is for different things. if your trying to put on mass you do slow and controlled with a lot of weight. if your trying to get cut you do this or if you are lifting for a sport you do this

it wont matter most ppl have one arm that is stronger than the other the bench press is your chest and a little bit of shoulders and traps.
