A lot of people realize this but some idiots out there seem to take what is given to them on the big screen as fact without question. That's why the History and Discovery channel has to produce all these documentaries to correct the damage done.
It has little to do with history, but it's a cool movie, totally homoerotic, and yet it's anti-gay. Loved Xerxes, Santoro was pretty good. This trend of portraying villains as hysterical drag queens is kind of fun, but it gets old, especially when people take that to mean that they should hate queers.
The reason they look like monsters is because the entire time they're fighting, it's all a story being told by the spartan that left. because it's a story being told it's just imagination giving them their looks, fighting, ect....
I do understand that rewriting history is desirable when making a movie. But this is a bit too much. Artistically, this movie is awesome. But the Persians are dehumanized and portrayed as monsters which is a shame considering the fact that their culture is really fascinating. I like the movie, but the producer should have respected history more.
