  • Did they get The Sweeney in the US too..??

  • @TheDepotCat Didn't they have to translate some of the dialogue in The Sweeney for the Yanks..?? Here's got to be the best car chase in any Sweeney episode>>> watch?v=iFeJAe4f9g0

  • Trained to be killed ?

  • checlk out the cool car at 0:34

  • I bet the Americans did think that CI5 existed! Had a mate come from America and he wanted to go to Scotland, I asked him what he wants to see and with a straight face he said " new Scotland yard"

    Classic!

  • @1anj1 not all of us are stupid on this side of the pond.

  • @tranurse

hey don't take it to heart, I only said in jest!

    Peace

  • @1anj1 i know, i just get tired of fellow countrymen of mine going overseas and acting like fools. oh well. take care

  • This is such a weird advert.......typical americans take a great show, and make a cheesy ad!!!

  • Heavens, I LOVED that trailer and--since we've already been into the fandom back then--were beyond happy to finally get 'em on pay tv (made our father pay, lol). One of the best shows ever and even if it was highly acclaimed I still think it was underrated in the US. Not every US citizen seems to be interested in European business, however, but that's life.

  • How come the pic quality of the clips on the trailer is so much better than the DVD's?

The colours seem a lot brighter

  • I used to love The Professionals when I watched it back then....cheese, grilled !

  • Cheesy indeed but cool at the same time. All the best bits rolled into a few mins...

I wonder how many Americans thought CI5 really existed:)))

  • There making a movie it will be coming out 2010 its stars colin farrell as doyle and vinnie jones as bodie

  • REally???? where did you find out about it???

  • I used to wacth the professionals a lot when i was a kid. Now i sometimes wacth it on itv 4. And i think it was a great series. There was one episode i can remember when i was a kid. And i have not seen it agian on repeat. When doyle punched bodie what was name of that episode?

  • when doyle punched Bodie for spying on his 'love interest'? Involvement - it was in the second series I think...

  • I had this trailer with my old edition of series 1. I like it. Takes out all the best action-packed clips from episodes like Female Factor, Takeaway, Weekend In The Country and Hiding To Nothing.

Pic quality's nice, too, kinda like the eps Where The Jungle Ends and Mixed Doubles. 8)

  • Finland has joined in too... cheesy trailer indeed, but entertaining and it's a great thing that Mr Cowley also gets due recognition here... Thanks for sharing!

  • goes to show how fucking hard the brits are . yanks would be to fat to do half the things cI5 do

  • argh they made it so cheesy, but no matter how cheesy the voiceover its STILL AMAZING :D

  • good trailer *a bit on the long side* the show has aged well over the years

  • Brilliant Trailer for a Brilliant show!

  • BEST SERIAL!

  • Georgia USA moved from Europe is happy to see favorite show has lots of fans

  • "It's not a toy bodie"

  • "you are coppers?" - "no, we are worse... much worse!" xD

    i love the lads!! : )

  • I love the professionals though it was really... utter bollocks. The comedy was atrocious and the pauses between character interaction were SO long and like Scooby Doo, nothing made any sense by the end of the episodes.

In conclusion it was bloody marvelous.

  • I've only seen four eps of this series: "Operation: Susie," "Joe Public(?)," the one with David Suchet as mercenary terrorist Enrique Krivas and the ep with an appearance by the luscious Pamela Salem as a high-class hooker who was an informant for Doyle during his "supercop" days!

Great show! I'd love to hunt down more eps but I don't have cable or satellite TV!

  • I caught a couple of episodes on one of the freeview channels but could never remember when it was on, so I bought the dvds from amazon. Well worth the money. :D

  • It would have been better with a few extra car chases in there. The Brits do them bloody well.

  • Hahahahahaha! How funny!

  • No wonder the show was canned after only one season.

  • There are three types of people on this planet. Those who can count. And those who can't.

  • Canned after one season? Maybe in the US, but in the UK it ran for several seasons. There again you obviously couldn't grasp it if it had run longer in the US!

  • Then again, you people like beans for breakfast - that says a lot about Britain without a word being uttered.

  • LOL Hilarious!

  • The best breakfast that I ever had during my travels through Great Britain was at The

Feathers Hotel in fabulous Liverpool; the buffet had absolutely everything in abundance

and the quality was outstanding (meaning that

there was very little grease). The worst

breakfast ever, and not only in just Britain

but North America and Europe as well, was

surprisingly in Penzance, along the beautiful

Cornish coast; even the croutons were drowned

in grease - thereafter, I stuck to the cold

    cereal.

  • I don't blame you, I would have too!

  • It says stuff like "we make programs like the Professionals"

    Rule Britannia :D

  • What does eating beans for breakfast say exactly? An American is in a position to critique on diet??

  • It says that you are collectively full of gas;

and that comes from a true Canadian who has

ventured from Lands End to John O'Groats and from Cornwall to Newcastle-Upon-Tyne and beloved places in between (Haltwhistle and Northerners forever! God love Scouses! Wolves!

    Nothing but Wolves! Wolves eternal!)

  • Don't forget beautiful Yorkshire, either.

  • Isn't "You people like beans for breakfast" six words?

  • is that the best you can do?

  • Was "The Professionals" the best that you

could do? Let's face it, even "Dr. Who" went downhill.

  • had the sniper gun with hoster/CI5 badge xmaS 198sumthin!I was that young I went to bed then mom woke me up to watch it!?

  • I was wondering if this was in fact a promo intended for television executives rather than the general public.

Or am I just making excuses for it being so very lame. :-)

  • It does seem rather too long to be a television trailer I think it probably is a sales tool for US sales.

  • If it is, it's odd that they didn't intro it with something obvious like "From the creators of 'The Avengers' comes a tough cop show that was on before tough cop shows like 'Law & Order' and 'CSI' dominated the airwaves! It would be true but it's still a missed opportunity for more cheesiness!

  • CI5 not MI5 :-)

Is that the longest promo in history... it's like an entire episode. :-)

  • The best damn promo in history!

  • Holy crap - you're right! It's like an SNL skit that will not end. Love the series though.

CI5 It's like FBI, CIA and Interpol all rolled into one...

  • how fucking long can a commercial be

  • british series you stupid yank. I love the bit when the music changes sound slike the green hornet!

  • In 1993 I stayed up every night until 2am to videotape every episode... the videos are long dead but were often watched. My first car was a Ford Escort! The series was never equalled, and came from the REAL age of the 'war on terror'.

  • totally the retrostuff i love!

where excactly is it from?(i only got the first season)-great contribution kitch77!

  • "Its like the FBI, CIA and Interpol all rolled into one" I cringe at the American voice-over guy having to spell it out for the benefit of the yank audience.....

  • Holaa *-* siempre los vi son Fabulosos...y mi preferido es Bodie*-*

ANA de Argentina *-* Gracias *-*THANS*-*

  • even bruce lee can deflect bullets, lol great line. thinking about it, it would seem like that to the U.S comparing ot to starsky and hutch.

  • Just love this programme; its a wonderful excuse to wallow in nostalgia. The men, the cars, the era. ITV are now repeating the series on Monday, Tuesday and Friday at 9pm. Best thing on my box!

  • greetings from Turkish capital, Ankara. I'm a Professionals CI5 fan. Everytime I watch the episodes I feel as if I'm watching it for the first time. never getting old for me.

  • Greetings from Istanbul :) I am an also fan of these legendary series. Buddy + Doyle + Cowley :)

  • Norway joining in as a fan as well. :)

  • "..non-stop RIVITING action". No spell check on the tele-text machine! The Professionals had one of the all-time great opening soundtracks.

  • Excellent! Super! Wow!

  • nice...landcrab cop car lol, wheres the doyles rotary escort ha ha

  • Thanks - that was interesting to see. I still love The Professionals.

  • Manchester United play "The Professionals" in breaks from training. Ronaldo is Doyle, Rooney is Bodie, and Alex Ferguson is Cowley. Rooney and Ronaldo run around pretending to kick doors open and shoot people, while Fergie pours a malt scotch and shouts at them. Then they get in their Porsches and thrash the gearbox while talking into football boots held up to their faces like walkie talkies.

  • 'sophisticated' HAHA

and where were the Capris? I saw a TR7 in there somewhere..

  • the best british cop show ever as far as i am concerned but i don't think the americans would have got it.

  • this has been shown in the uk in the last couple of months, the trained to kill and be killed was in reference to Colonel Dawson in "Dawsons Last Stand"

  • wonder if it showed here? i moved here in 93 and no one i know has ever heard of it. Wish they would re run it here on at least one channel. God knows we have enough of them

  • The Professionals did show here- But they had to edit it- back in the days before cable. Too violent. Now it is a bit dated. I purcahsed the DVDs form the UK and played them here on a ) coded DVD player. I hail from Birmingham live in California now.

  • neat thanks for the info, so all i need is a j-coded machine to run UK dvd's yeah? there are so many shows i want to bring back here.

  • Lovely sexed up trail for the programme. Guess that's what the Yanks wanted.

An eye-opening insight to our cultural divide.

  • It says trained to kill and be killed??? not much training required for the latter one would think!!

  • This was one of my favs but this goes on a bit ffs

  • martin shaw is brill at acting and lewis collins is ok i suppose

  • my fav tv show EVER!

  • YAY! americans can never make shows like these...
