When our production was finished, the director each gave us a videotaped copy. Can anyone answer this question for me? If I upload my hometown's production of this, will it be seen as a copyright violation?
At 55 yrs of age this movie remains the greatest film I have ever seen with immaculate and imaginative direction from Capra and stellar performances. The storyline applies to todays faith/love and business/politics a stunning 74 years later. A timeless, great piece of art and a beautiful expression of the human struggle with values and greed. If you have never seen this movie, do yourself a very big favour and watch it. It is fun and very fullfilling.
I'd like to say to everybody, it's so nice to know that even now, about 80 years later, that this play is still going strong through the schools, because where I live, there are very few people who have ever heard of the movie, let alone the play. they would never do this show here, and that's too bad, this is one of those stories that I think everybody ought to be familiar with.
I loved being a apart of this play. "You can't take it with you." When I was in high school; I played the character Jim. (One of the Government man in this play version.) I was an understudy for older son's part; I think? But another person; who had more time with the group. Got the the part in the play. (I lacked a strong conviction. When I try to battle for that part.) I've gained a stronger conviction in many aspects. But yet I lack an understanding of "tactics" towards networking.
@619kade, I haven't seen the movie yet. I read the comments to get a feel for the movie before I watch it. I'm terribly sorry you feel that way about your part in the play. Someone once said "There are no small parts, only small actors" so be the best "Donald" you can be. That is, if you can act. It also might help if you change your opinion about your part. Give it some thought.
@619kade Hey, my friend played him our freshman year and he nearly stole the show because he was so funny. And now he gets all the lead roles. Don't ever complain, work with what you have. It's like, a ten person cast... just be glad you're in it!
Excellent move.Thanks. I love these vintage movies... Have you ever see George Washington Slept Here with Jack Benny. I can't find it anywhere to watch?
My school is auditioning this week. Im not using the movie as a reference i just heard that ann miller was 15 when she was in this show so i wanted to see how she looks. I'm shooting for Ed at my school!
This show is absolutly wonderful. My school just did it for our fall play and I had the honor and priviledge of playing Grandpa. There is so much love that goes into this play. It was very sad to see it go so quickly. But the message of freedom and choosing happiness for yourself is unforgettable. Thank you so much for posting this. And may you all find happiness.
Im Ed in a drama scene! This is amazing. Im loving how much I can get of his personality! IT is really cool to find out even more than just one singular scene!
Thank you so much for this. I'm in a situation right now where I'm competing with my best friend for the role of Penelope in our high school production of this and this will help me so much.
Thank you so much for posting this! I have to analyze this movie for a philosophy class. It is so much easier to write an essay while watching the movie, instead of trying to remember every detail from class.
thanks so much for posting the movie i just love these b/white and the story line it makes you feel good .watching the old but goodies,,j sunshine to all
It's a little bit different from the play, I've learned. 1.) Grandpa doesn't bring any1 home from the IRS office. 2.) Mr. Kirby isn't trying to buy Grandpa's land. 3.) & The Prison Scene isn't shown. My character, Rheba & her bf Donald only talk about it! A couple of my cast members were looking @ it w/ me today b4 rehearsal. Maybe when the show ends (on Mother's Day) maybe I'll show it @ the cast party. I just wish I could put the 12 parts back together! LOL! Again, Thanks! {{{{^_^}}}}
Thanks so much for posting this movie; it is one of the best besides "Harvey" and "It's a Wonderful Life". James Stewart and the rest of the cast are fabulous!!
Thanks so much! Now I don't have to pay for it from the library :D You've just made me indescribably elated xD Bless you for uploading this <3 xxx

I have the exact picture that keeps falling off the wall, 'Home Sweet Home.'
I can't say it's the one from the picture, but it looks identical to me?
I love it, had it for about 30 years now.
