  • Baiasound,wow

  • This synth. lead "fake funk" was the begining of the end of "disco". Disco was just a place where they didn't have a band. Records to dance, & a dance floor, a club. That movie was a joke! Those clubs played motown, funk, some james brown, etc... Stuff to dance to. Packed, pot outside only, all else was ok. Pink champale, You could cut the smoke with a knife, it was so thick. Hot, back to back people, and one hell of a good time. You had to be there to really know.[ & it's where the women were!]

  • do any of their songs have more than 7 words? lol

  • 8 people couldn't get up and boogie.

  • COKE FOR EVER

  • Side note: "That's right!" was sampled and used in the '80's ABC song "Be Near Me".

  • Only six words and you have a hit song.

  • @Dietpepsivanilla Ahhhh, it is all in the production.

  • @Dietpepsivanilla yes, why be so verbose. Silver Convention's #1 1975 hit "Fly Robin Fly" has the fewest distinct words for a number song (6 words) fly, robin, up, to, the, sky.

This song almost repeated the same feat but stalled at #2 in 1976.

  • @relimes

...THAT'S RIGHT....gives it much more depth...

  • oh my god this song is sooooooo boring. 6 words for an entire song, most people should try harder than that....

  • Original 'dance' music. Lesson 1... instrumental dance wasn't invented in the 90s!

  • ORIGINAL 'dance' music. Lesson 1: instrumental DANCE wasn't invented in the 90s!

  • This so so funny. I never realized there were so few words to their songs. I also had no clue what they looked like. Good looking babes in their day eh....?

  • @MrNuffsaid777 If you think this is few words how about the lyrics to The Hustle. OMG I just gave away two thirds of them.

  • wow this took me back to the 70's , OMG, the silver convention, the music was the thing to jam too ,

  • Didn't this win a grammy for most original lyrics? That's right.

  • @pat1947100 Get up and Boogie...LOL

  • i need bass tabs!!

  • 6 people didn't get up and boogie

  • Thanks for the music. LA/Honolulu

  • aww this takes me back. I was in high school when disco was popular. God, I'm old!!!

  • I always tell my boyfriend to "get up! ...and boogie" in the mornings when he's slow at waking up.

  • They, the powers that be, have blocked my version that was my favorite . Now I have to mark this one ! These girls weren't much when I was in Deutechland but I still like the song, cheezey as it maybe. You had to be there !!!! Freidberg ,Hesson 1974 -1975. 1st Bn. 32nd Armor

  • Disco Rocks!!!

  • // ESTO SI ES MUSICA !!! //

  • MUY BUENA....

  • silver convention simplemente lo mejor de lo mejor.

  • Disco is so awesome.

  • Im pretty sure that in my past life I used to live in the 70's...I really love this music!!!!

  • 5 people couldn't get up and boogie.

  • "THAT'S RIGHT!" I love this song! Takes me back to high school. Thanks for posting!

  • Well produced, and those melodic orchestral strings are probabaly the least predictable element in the development of disco! When you say "intricate and varied in form and range", I'm not quite with you. "Form" is the harmonic structure of a piece of music -- the chord sequence. This tune has a form comprised of 2 sections which repeat over and over. I dig disco too and I like a good lyric, such as in Whodunit by Tavares, wiith its clever play on a "stolen" baby and popular detectives.

  • This is " Munichsound" from good old Germany

  • let's go back to the 70's............anybody has a time machine?

  • love it

  • Bloody hell, just come over all goose bumps; arms, shoulders and one or two other places. I have just been shot through a worm hole back to 1976, and for a split second I was with all my pals when I first heard this when I was living in Dunfermline, Fife. Did we strut our funky stuff to this? You better believe it buster...LOL

  • This song sure brings back memories.

    Thank you.

    George Vreeland Hill

  • very successful songwriters in germany in the seventies ....

  • The same damn lyrics throughout the hole song lol

  • @fivestringbassplayr

Yeh, 6 words -- "get up and boogie ... that's right"

Disco at its dumbest, but goddam catchy!

Disco bass players knew their octaves!!

  • @Drblooter99 Ya this song is like crack lol. And I am a bass player, and now im definantly gonna learn this song

  • @Drblooter99 Well, I wouldn't exactly call it as it's dumbest. They were known for just a few lyrics in all of their songs. If you listen to their entire albums, you will see how well-produced the albums were. I remember RUNNING to Woolworth's in downtown Denver, Colorado to buy the 45 rpm of this song when I was 14 years old! This still stands as one of my absolute favorite Disco songs. Simple, yes, but intricate and varied in its form and range -- that's for sure.

    DISCO AL

  • @fivestringbassplayr lol a lot of songs can get away with using very few lyrics because it's the instrumentation that everyone is mainly fixated on.

  • tuuuuuuuunnnnnnneeeeeeee.this is another disco classic.

  • GET UP, AND BOOGIE !

  • excelllent, thats right, ok , lindo.

  • 5 people disliking to 141 liking.. you know i think thats more than a majority. down with the rap! up with the disco and funk!

  • Some of those record covers are a bit risque - early examples of 'pop-porn', later made so popular by Britney & Beyonce?

  • THAT'S RIGHT! -- I love this song!

  • Yes, indeed, I would like to get up and boogie.........but I'm too flippin' lazy......can I just sit here and you lick my genitalia?

  • Das ist genau meine Musikrichtung,,,great 70er,s

  • I love this song <3333! Anyone have any other great 70s 80s music that u can tell me about?

  • @gabyluvsstan Don't know if anyone mentioned to you but U can try Van McCoy's "The Hustle" (1976) or Donna Summer (the Casablanca era 1975-1980).

  • We will never forget the important contributions the chic ladies of the "Silver Convention" made by recording "Fly Robin Fly" (#1), and "Get Up And Boogie"(#2), and in helping to make the years "1975" and "1976," the two greatest years ever in Rock and Roll music history.

  • This was my song! I ran down to Woolworth's record department and bought the 45 and wore it out! Went to the #2 spot on the Billboard Singles 1976. I remember that well.

    DISCO AL
