I switched to 61/2 AM from AL years ago, to help project more sound playing on a 1956 King Tenor 3B in a concert/symphonic band, musical pit band, and jazz band. Great sound, but slide is slow since the nickel plating on lower stocks is wearing off.

I used to play trombone untl 7th grade, I was pretty good at it too, always 1st chair in my class, I am now graduated high school and I can still play (not well at all) but I know the the positions and notes, I got a tombone for free and it's not the best but it works the only problem the gasket on my spit valve is missing so there is air leaking out and it is a little flat and hard to stay on pitch, is there a way I can get this fixed?

Its just a "raw" finish instead of lacquered. It has almost no impact on the sound from farther then a foot or two a way. The sound is all the player here.

Just don't move your lips but move the airflow faster to reach the next harmonic. Twice the speed = octave higher. Only your embrouchure must be strong enough for your lips to stay together with the extra airflow. If your lips ain't touching, they can't buzz. Press on too hard.. they won't buzz.. no sound.

I am the luckiest man alive. I found an Olds trombone laquer removed trombone today in th school basement of our school during the tornado drill. My teacher is letting me use it in school. Its got alot of orange for some reason. Know why?
