They played in my hometown and my friends dad was backstage and he met sid in a elevator..Sid had a cigarette in his mouth and reached for a lighter and my friends dad quickly took his lighter and aimed it towards sid's cigarette..That is cool !

I think it is about the magic of time and circumstances the sex shop was a central element to the Pistols and Westwood and Jordan and the whole bunch were part of it so a fan can relate to a group of people maybe different in appearance but a lot of fun to watch and whoever heard of a sex shop with their own band anyways -- I don't care about Clash and I never liked the Ramones.

This song was about the New York Dolls. The Sex Pistols tried to make fun of them in this song. And in reply Johnny Thunders(ex New York Dolls)wrote a song(London Boys)to make fun of the Sex Pistols. And Steve Jones and Paul Cook joined Thunders on this song, isn't that ironic. And Thunders showed the Pistols who really was the boss.

And for those who didn't know who Johnny Thunders was. Just see the Sex Pistols movie the Filth and the Fury. In that movie Steve Jones admitted that he copied everything from Johnny Thunders. And Sid Vicious was almost obsessed by Thunders. And Thunders hated the word punk, that's exactly what makes him even more punk.

And I've got the "Filth and the Fury" film, Steve says also it was VERY STUPID of him to imitate Johnny, because he had his own thing going on. IMITATION and lack of ORIGINALITY are what turned punk into a uniform and a a sect with rules, and therefore KILLED IT.

And about Dee Dee Ramone, he and Thunders hated each other, Dee Dee even set Thunders clothes and guitar on fire, that's why I called Dee Dee a moron, but ofcourse I didn't know him personally, and Thunders was no saint either ofcourse. At least it's nice to have a discussion with someone who doesn't go shouting and all and knows what he is talking about.

They didn't really hate each other, I've got a couple of dvds of Dee Dee interviews and he thinks the world of Johnny Thunders...fact is they both had issues and they both were junkies and you know what it's like...shit happens. It's like Sid and Nancy, they loved each other but ended up destroying each other because of their bloody heroin addiction. Don't do hard drugs lads, they truly SUCK. It's nice indeed to talk to someone who knows his stuff!

Did you know that someone uploaded the Johnny Thundersmovie Born to Lose the Last Rock and Rollmovie on youtube. There is a interview with Dee Dee about Thunders to in that movie, maybe you already saw it but if you didn't see it, I could recommend it.

On Sid Vicious soloalbum Sid Sings there are a couple of songs that were Thundersoriginals. Born to Lose, Chinese Rocks(co written by Dee Dee Ramone, that stupid moron)and Chatterbox. Thunders was really the greatest, he was good in the New York Dolls. But he was really excellent with the Heartbreakers and solo.

I like Johh Genzale, but he wasn't the greatest. The Pistols were and are. And Dee Dee was no moron, he was a genius who wrote the best Ramones song. And btw Sid was obsessed with Dee Dee, not with Thunders. He was Thunders's friend though, they were gonna start a band called "The Living Dead".

I agree with you on most things, but I really think that Thunders was the greatest. But that's is also just a matter of taste. And Vicious was Thunders friend but he also had a bit of a obsession for him. And there was actually a band called The living Dead, there is even a bootlegrecord of them for sale regularly on ebay and the Living Dead is Thunders and some other punks, but you are right that Thunders also wanted to start a band with Vicious.

Yes there are stories going on that Thunders offered him heroin and said what are you a man or a boy, but I don't know if it's true. But one thing is for sure,Nancy was a groupie for the New York Dolls(Jerry Nolan)and after Thunders and Nolan left the New York Dolls.

They formed the Heartbreakers and went to the Uk to perform on the Anarchy tour, Nancy followed them but Thunders and Nolan get rid of her and then she hooked up with Vicious. But if that storie of Thunders and Vicious and heroin is true, I really don't know.

I know but Vicious was one of the Pistols biggest fans before he joined them. And about Thunders getting Vicious into heroin, that were just rumours, I also believe it was Nancy who got him hooked, on heroin that is because he was already doing drugs before. His mother got him into doing drugs, really pathetic if you think about it.

johntgr. Punk is dead and it has been for a long time. Ever since the pistols and obviously other punk bands before the pistols ie New York Dolls, Stooges, MC5, Patti Smith. Anyway ever since then music and the meaning of music has gone down hill. There were some alright 80's punk bands like the Dead Kennedy's but they too went downhill because of commercialism and consumerism etc. Punk is Dead and it would be bloody hard to bring it back!

I think Punk was ruined for people like Lydon hated stereotypes and felt the need to be different, that was their attraction to the sex shop, but soon Punk became cool and a stereotype itself, therefore lost half its meaning, Punks obviously political as well. You might think differently.. less ignorantly. Bak then I hated the slogan punks not dead because I was more of an individual "punk" not political or sick of the norm, although I do hate alot. I found individuality easier with alternative.
