  • The voice, the beat, the tradition...

    Awesome song.

You listen to this song once in a day and it stays with you for the rest of the day and beyond...

  • @usablejustice I totally agree with you.. This album and Stings Greatest hits were my very first CD's I ever bought.. I know I was only a kid during there PRIME, but I remember my mom listening to them.. so if you just close your eyes... you can really feel the emotion in his voice..

  • It doesnt matter who deliver the song but as long as the journey continue through the years and to the future. Arnel did his best but the original is still the original...

  • @1969jerwin I think it matters!!! Steve Perry sang each and every Journey hit song with so much emotion because they meant so much to him and still do.He either wrote or co-wrote them.

  • @1969jerwin Arnel is the best replacement singer they have had, but NO ONE can replace Steve.

  • Saw them in Tampa .............great show. SP doesn't want to come back.

  • Ya know i dont really like Arnel Pineda. Steve Perry,YOU WERE SO MUCH BETTER.

  • ADORO ESTA CANCION!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ME HIZO LLORAR LA PRIMERA VEZ QUE LA ESCUCHE

  • @LineArmsronginmortal a pocita !

  • Journey isn't Journey without Steve Perry.Period.

  • Magic.

  • la imagen que acompaña a esta cancion.... alguien me peude decir de quien es??

  • @azuremusique hace referencia a Steve Adler, pero solo encuentro resultados del ex baterista de Guns n´Roses. Dejame buscar mas

  • JOURNEY will always be the JOURNEY of all time..SP or A.P

if you love the JOURNEY frm the past,,,

you must love the JOURNEY for the future...

the important is the message of all the songs from JOURNEY..

    KEEP ON ROCKING...... GODBLESS...

  • "...Im lost in the silence...I'm dying..." God this is a great song. Its so underrated possibly due to the fact that I don't think they got a chance to promote the album "Trial by Fire" properly. I love how Steve can sing these fast paced songs on stage and stay in tune the entire time. He hits impossible notes--God he was a musical genius with a heaven sent voice. Arnel...is a good singer but...no comparison here. Steve Perry over all the other imitators.

  • Really Arnel is a great vocalist and gives credit to SP but hey, they moved on. If you grew up with SP, he will always be the VOICE of JRNY but Arnel carries the sprit really good!

  • That picture is weird as hell. But awesome.

  • It's greatest!!

  • what is REAL JOURNEY?...

someone say the era of perry/schon/cain/valory/smith...another say the era of perry/schon/rollie/valory/smith...the other say the era of schon/rollie/valory/dunba...

but nobody say pineda era...the real journey...

  • @israel71240 Pineda SUCKS

  • THE VOICE of Steve Perry has been changed since he first came into journey...his voice was getting more and more husky...it means he realy worked hard...

  • classic absolute greatness!

  • AWESOME SONG! ITS PERFECT!

  • great song im singing along the best i can but the range if amazing

  • i miss steve parry

  • ROCK AND METAL 4EVER!!! \m/

  • Another fantastic song by Steve & Journey. His voice just got better & better. I wish he would come to the UK , so I could see him perform live PLEEEEASE

  • This is my favorite Journey song! Epic! I can't believe it isn't as popular as it should be.

  • @CraigPhilipMyBeer I agree it's such an underrated song! Arnel is a great singer, but Journey without Steve is like Queen without Freddie Mercury!

  • @ter50 Indeed...it's certainly not as if Journey hired HACKS in the time Perry's been out of the band...they all have good voices...unquestionably....but Perry's soul, essence and inspiration is in EVERY song he sang....how can THAT be duplicated or replicated? Can't be done..honestly...same deal with Ripper Owens in his tenure w/ Judas Priest....Rob Halford's presence had been too much of a force and too important to be simply 'overlooked,' once Rob returned, Priest re-emerged as heroes.

  • @TheSetibevol88 Very well put. Very well indeed.

  • STEVE PERRY IS THE VOICE OF MUSIC AND ALWAYS WILL BE THATS MY MAIN MAN :)

  • Una d mis grandes super prefes d estos Dioses d San Francisco!!

  • now, loves here, were are you??????

  • wow the songs of journey have something magic really it's the first time i heard this song... it's so so goood :D

  • Perry...go back with Journey and make good music again.

  • mp3iffy is the best site to get this mp3. google mp3iffy.

  • ありがとうm(_ _)m JOURNEY was,no,not "was" ,they are still always COOL!

    ヽ(´ー`)ノ Thanks for vid.

  • JOURNEY,,They were,and still now they are COOL!ヽ(´ー`)ノ

  • If the sun were to disappear,we'll get mars to take its place! Just wont work!

  • journey hasnt had a hit since perry.what does that tell you, what has queen done since freddy nothing.journey 78-96

  • @tr4207 it tells me that journey doesn't need to have hits to be awesome.

  • journey really grew up with this album.

  • Steve Perry !

  • ESTA ROLA LLEVO BUSCANDOLA AÑOS HA, GRACIAS mirringue POR SUBIRLA, ES PARA MI SIN DUDA EL MEJOR REQUINTO DE LA HISTORIA DEL ROCK, POTENCIA, SENTIMIENTO TODO EN ESA GUITARRA...MIL GRACIAS

  • @luizcarr70 un gusto compañero!!

  • I wish Journey did more stuff like this... Perry can't be replaced, just copied.

  • NoSteveNoJourney = loser Haole... u must be related to Hitler, Stalin, etc...

  • fuck u. hes rite

  • havent had a hit in 14 yrs yrs,what a shame

  • A shame indeed, I so agree. There truly is no voice like Perry's.

  • When this song comes up on my IPOD while I am walking I kick it up a notch...I can hear him calling and his message of love!

  • I'm glad you heard me calling ;). Haha jk

  • God bless castronovo and arnel pineda. those guys are are allright but "The Voice", Steve Perry is both phenomenal and irreplaceable

  • finally, a comment that i can relate to

thank you man finally cuz im tired of ppol dissing 'em and der working their asses off and their both great singers but just not as good as perry

  • @spiritualaccent I totally agree

  • in essence this is like separate ways part II... still able to be distinguished from the first one

  • that new dude is just another coverband singer, journey 78-96

  • arnel is OK- however STEVE PERRY is INCOMPARABLE !

  • I TOTALLY AGREE!

  • Indeed!!!!

  • We have given credit to steve and to journey, but we must give some credit to the person who designed their album covers. He is also amazing with his art. These are some of the best covers i have seen. They are weird but they make you think about the message of each journey album.

  • Journey....:)

  • Just a few can understand the juorney's message....the message of love.

  • You cant compare Arnel to Steve that is just stupid! besides Arnel just imitates Steve! just like all the other 'J ' singers, come back to me when you can hit a Bb5 note ;)

  • and they haavnt even written anymore new songs, theyve just re-done them

  • @SPW892 Huge Journey Fan ,but to your comment, That's not actually true.......

They had a release of Arnel singing the hits , True. They also had an album of New stuff , Actually NOT TERRIBLE. The main hit moves and riffs just like Be good to Yourself. They also just finished up the 2nd studio album with Arnel and will start a tour in 2011. Hopefully Steve FINALLY releases his own stuff......

  • @DeanoPiano Did Castronovo or any other Journey singer?

  • He did sing a short tour with them I think he is a great rummer and singer to and can reflect Perry's accent, cool guy

  • Its true Steve equals hits and Arnel can't

  • this is a brilliant mishmash of loads of classic 80's jounrey songs!

  • Arnel might be a very nice person, but I won't listen to him..only Steve........

  • one of the greatest song by one of the greatest band in the world!

  • People that think Arnel is better then Steve are messed up....Arnel sounds NOTHING like him from 1983-1997 or at all for that matter.

  • increible cancion , ¡marabillosa!.....

  • maravillosa es con V, baboso!

  • arnel pineda is ok but theres only 1 steve perry ! " The Voice" is 1 of the most incomparable lead singers of our generation. steve perry RULES !

  • Go see Santana's "Black Magic Woman" and there is Neal Schon on guitar at the age of 16... Carlos asked him to stay on, but told him he wanted to start his own band. Imagine telling Carlos Santana thanks, but no thanks..

  • I just bought this cd on ebay to replace the old cassette

  • I love this song...i remember when it came out..awesome!

  • only the best from journey

  • wow- WHAT A SONG !!!

  • Steve Smith is definitely an awesome drummer :). He really rocks on this record, especially on One More. But the album as a whole is great, because you can feel the outpouring of emotions into every song

  • Arnel is a SP imitation. Journey is afraid to evolve into something else and keeps looking back instead of the future. The arrival of Arnel has done nothing except cement common belief that once Steve Perry departed, Journey is unable to carry on without someone who sounds like him. It's like sugar vs. Splenda. Gimme the sugar.

  • @Autumnstar1205 ja ja ja cry baby!

  • LOL u said it

  • @Autumnstar1205 I've been a Journey fan for a long time. Was majorly disappointed when Gregg Rolie left. Hated it when Steve quit. But this is ridiculous. It's over. He is gone. Just be happy the band is still out there making the music after 30+ years. Have you listened to the new stuff? Have you tried it at all? Skynyrd has survived. So has Foreigner. SO IS JOURNEY. Get on with your life.

  • @Autumnstar1205 Amen, bruh.

  • I am a Journey Junkie! I Love ALL Journey Music,I can still remember The Infinty Tour, Awesome Tour!

  • end solo is freakin amazing

  • Yes it is

  • Gods, people. I bought this album ear unheard in '96 because. After that long a time it was obvious it was their last with Perry. Arnel is awesome, let him rise to the occasion. NO ONE can replace Perry, but in Journey they need Arnel at this time. Perry.. Please hear us.. WE LOVE YOU.

  • Their last album is amazing......despite what any douchebag loser record reviewer says...

I think it's better than Raised on Radio, myself

  • Oh, and this is the REAL JOURNEY'S last album...

  • I agree ! The Journey today is not the same .

It's not even really Journey . It's just like Foreigner

or Styx . A few original members with a tribute singer . Perry can't be replaced and Smith was their best drummer .

  • i agree with you all the way

  • @sj1778

That's funny. "I agree (that Journey is unable to carry on without someone who sounds like Perry)" and ye, "The Journey today is not the same." That's a contradiction. If they don't sound the same, they HAVE evolved. If you criticize them for not sounding like they once did YOU have not evolved... mired in the Perry Years. Arnel has similar vocal qualities and he sings songs written for his voice. They needed someone that could still deliver the old sound for nostalgic concerts.

  • @SecularTrend yes! cause it has Perry and Smith. !

  • This song sums up my feelings perfectly.

  • Amazing, one of their best!

  • Ugh...can anyone tell me why Steve Smith left Journey?? I understand why Steve Perry left but I can't seem to find a reason why Smith did.

  • Steve Smith left because he said and I quote; "A Journey without Steve Perry doesn't interest me...".

This I saw in a VH1 Behind the Music interview special...

  • Steve Smith said

"A Journey without steve perry just doesn't interest me"

  • and right he is. It seems that all of the singers since have only tried to imitate his voice. Journey will definitely never be the same. Fortunately for those that don't care about this, can still go to their concerts, but for me, its not Journey. Perry was Journey period. Anyone can play the drums or the guitar, no one has Perry's voice.

  • Steve Smith did not want to be in Journey with out Steve Perry, so he oppted out! and along came Deen Castronovo, and BTW he kicks ass and can sing!! Check out my page, Deen singing Mother Father!!

  • Yeah I already know that; I've seen plenty of vids with Deen singing, and he is great.

  • from what i have found out is that for steve smith it was not worth being in the band with out steve perry. he had said that being in journey with out steve perry was not worth his time and was not fun at all for him

  • ~~~wow~~~ i just love hearing his fantastic voice......Steve..? will you please come back to Musicland and sing for us again??? PLEASE?? we miss you ....

  • hey dude ,, you're in the right spot, having artist like these makes you to consider who are really singing in the stage,, get some Scott Soto's works, Micheal Vescera, Freddy Mercury, Dio just for say a few, Ciao!

  • Dio and Mercury are in entirely different leagues than the others you mentioned. So much better.

  • His "voice box" can be crushed to dust and still sound better than Arnel (or anybody else for that matter)

Steve Perry is the greatest singer to ever be recorded.

  • amen!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • I can't believe this song wasn't released as a single

  • it was. wylaw was released at the same time

  • those vocal chords are being sturmmed by angels.....

  • Was Steve Smith ever not a perfect drummer?

  • Name That Tune:

From 3:17 to 3:29 on the piano, then again at 4:22 til 5:12 is somewhat familiar...shades of "Separate Ways", perhaps? Methinks so!

  • not just 'shades of' but the actual SAME NOTES and chords of Seperate Ways : just slighlty re-arranged . Em Dmaj and Cmaj. They wanted the songs on this album to be reminscent of their old stuff according to Neal Schon

  • Seperate Ways is gre......oh.......

  • This cd it was played excellent by them, to me I think it is the best performance ever.If you listen you can tell they play louder and stronger. It sounds excellent!!!

  • I agree ! actually i like it more than Separate Ways . Excellent song

  • this is real music

  • Of course another awesome song to fall in love with and rock out with from Steve Perry!!!Your beautiful Steve!!

  • This song is as good as separate ways.I love it.Steve rules

  • lol let me guess you love journey and especially steve perry am i right lol

  • love your voice

  • almost good as separate ways.Steve rocks

  • Jesus...JRNYMAN....WHER ARE YOU DUDE?

  • harleyboy120,

BUSY, BUSY, BUSY! But thanks for checking on me.

  • JRNYman..Question? It's been a long time, little know thought that one of the underlying reasons that Journey decided to get out on the road after waiting 13 months for SP decision to tour, was that Ross had made some VERY large financial commitments and without the tour income, he woud've stood the chance to lose everything...which incidentally did anyway with the IRS. Can you expand on that?? I've always been quite curious about that, and I've never seen it talked about anywhere...Cheers!

  • harleyboy120,

Wow, thanks for asking, but I've never heard anything remotely like that before. Sorry...anyone else know about that?

  • looked into the financial thing about Ross, he was real busy doing alot of projects to be poor...he was invited back to join forces with Journey for that last album TBF. No info on money issues.

In 1996 Ross was invited to the Journey reunion of the Trial By Fire project.

In 1997 Ross appeared on the Abraxas Pool album and played on the initial performances with Gregg Rolie, Michael Carabello, Jose Chepito Areas and Neal Schon.

In 1998 Ross re-formed Journey with the current membership.

  • STEVE PERRY!!

  • STEVE PERRY!!!!!!!!!!

  • neal wanted to continue to ride on the coattails of Steve Perry! He needs the money for all the alimony he shells out. His band sucked before Steve Perry joined and they suck now. I can go watch a much better tribute band for alot less money. All you haters go to the Journey with Arnel vids if you think they are so great! Why hang out here?

  • There's a great tribute band out there called Evolution...give'm a listen.....Their not too shabby! I'm just a die hard Journey fan from day one when I first heard them at Soldier Field in Chicago opening for the Stones. I'll see and support them no matter what. They could have Tiny Tim as their front man and I'd still go see them....RF/SP/SA/JSS/AP..it just don't matter......

  • That is Great! Then you understand how some of us feel about Steve Perry! We feel the same loyalty to him no matter what! We can all be happy on these vids and get what we came for without having name call and bash. I have seen Evolution and a couple of others. Not bad!

  • There was NEVER a question of how you all feel, because I feel the EXACT SAME WAY! If your buddy JRNYMAN hadn't jumped through his ass at me for responding/defending Journey's dicision to hire AP...to SOMEONE ELSE..none of this would be a conversation. I see his point and your point. Please try and see mine. I think in the 33 YEARS that I have been to their concerts, and supported their music, I can make any point I want to. To whom ever, how ever. Nough said :)PS I like your page! Great Work!!

  • harleyboy120,

Tiny Tim is dead - has been for years. But that would be a sight to see!

We "get it" that YOU are a JOURNEY fan regardless of who is out front. It IS a group of capable and talented musicians. No doubt, Gregg, Smitty, Ross and Jon have made significant contributions to "the sound" of Journey and therefore to the band's success. And Neal is an awesome guitarist, the best, highly underrated.

But c'mon, you MUST know that anyone bashing Perry is looking for trouble, right? Truce?

  • JRNYMAN..Let's try and get one thing strait between us and then be done with this. I did not, nor would I EVER

  • HARLEYBOY120,

JOURNEY doesn't own Steve Perry or his voice, which is the "signature vocal sound". Note that a person's written signature is their own unique identification, which Steve has created by placing HIS MARK on Journey music.

With Arnel, Neal found a "signature sound-alike", which in handwriting terms is known as a FORGERY. You don't have to be an expert to see that one is authentic and one is a fake!

It's not the similarities that matter, but the differences. Boy, are they obvious!

  • HARLEYBOY120,

You have no frickin' idea how many pairs of blown-out underwear I have. Wait...on second thought, you probably know EXACTLY how many, because each would have resulted from a time you were blowin' your hot air up my a**!

  • HARLEYBOY120, Why do you and so many others come to 'Journey WITH Steve Perry" sites and bash the man? Have you nothing better to do? We Journey/Perry fans are here to enjoy the music, not to bash Arnel, but we WILL respond when provoked.

We have no problem with you going to a "Journey WITH Arnel" site and glorifying and/or bashing whomever you want...BECAUSE YOU FIND US THERE BEING RUDE AND SPREADING HATE!

You say you're "OUT"?? Great! At last! Thank you and Goodbye, hopefully for good!

  • HARLEYBOY120,

Just to clarify.. I left out ONE very important word:

Go to an AP with Jouurney site...you WON'T find us there being rude and spreading hate!

We won't be there because we have no interest in AP, so we will stay away from his sites.

  • the 1st 30 seconds of this song is the song played backwards

  • Too bad this lineup couldnt have carried on .

Perry , Schon , Cain , Smith , and Valory is the best lineup

  • MY question is: If Journey now, has "moved on" without Steve, then WHY do they keep getting singers that TRY SO HARD to "sound" like Steve!!! See, even Neal CAN NOT and NEVER WILL be able to get out from under Steve's UNFORGETTABLE, UNDENIABLE PRESENCE!!! I rest my case!!!

  • I've wondered the same thing! They obviously haven't moved on because they can't seem to find a decent frontman!!!

  • Ha ha, I was laughing my ass off after reading that. That is what "WE" want. I thought the same thing and wanted them to hire the singer from Evolution. The singer mimics and looks like Perry. I figured since they were a characture of themselves anyway.

  • harleyboy120,

First: Please do without the name-calling and cursing.

Second:"Signature Sound" translates to "Steve Perry's Voice", because he is the owner/originator of that "sound" by virtue of The Voice emanating from HIS mouth.

True, Journey's instrumentals also have a recognizable sound as well. But that can be approximated by a skilled musician, e.g. Lincoln Brewster playing nearly-identically to Neal when Perry did Journey songs on The FTLOSM solo tour.

  • I am so glad you said so perfectly those things, so many of us wants to say! Thank you.

  • The result to Neal recently seeking the SIGNATURE SOUND has yielded a Steve Perry imitator, certainly nothing more, but definitely nothing less.

  • harleyboy120,

Here's an excerpt from the GQ article; the interviewer poses a question and Neal Schon's response is given:

"But when I ask Schon if he's at all tired of Journey being defined by Perry's presence or absence, he answers, 'Um, no. I think he contributed so much to the sound of the band. Those songs are gonna be embedded in everybody's heads and hearts forever'."

    Case closed.

  • JRNYMAN...Why don't you stop preaching to the quire and turn around and face the congragation. Neil wanted a legacy sound for the fans and he got!! The world loves it, and the band enjoys it. Enough..CASE CLOSED.

  • harleyboy120,

I admit it IS Neal's band, he is the founder after all. Clearly he's done with it what HE wants. We fans just wish that he HAD NOT done that. Steve also wishes it had not happened: he's made it clear he wanted to be part of Journey.

Granted, no amount of regret, hoping, crying, praying or whining will change the band's history - what is done IS done.

Having admitted all that, would you agree that Journey is more valuable as a commodity

    WITH Steve, rather than without?

  • JRNYMAN< No need to admint anything, I appreciate your candor and honesty and, you are dead on!! When it's all said and done, we the fans the ones that are left holding the pieces to a group that in a fashion, "broke our hearts". Yeap, The stone was cracked, and there aint no going back. In the end, it's anyone's guess what there value would be today. Bands, like Commodities, have a shelf life. They know before we do if it's time to go their "seperate ways" ha ha. The truce is granted.

  • JRNYMAN, BTW..?? What's the answer to the "historian" referrance. I'm and old fart, but can't put the TV "pop culture thing together?!...LOL

  • HARLEYBOY120,

There used to be Vicks Formula 44 commercials on TV where the spokesmen were soap opera actors who portrayed doctors on their shows. So the commercial began, "I'm not an actor, but I play one on TV. Blah, blah, Vicks Formula 44...blah, blah, blah, Vicks".

The idea was to see "famous face 'physicians' in their white coats" in order to lend credibility to the product.

So, more accurately, "I'm not a historian, but I play one on youtube".

    (Truce acknowledged and appreciated!).
