  • LOL at the boss "Hahahahaha !!! *hit* *hit* *hit* UUAAAGHH !!!"

  • His legs are too short...and he walks funny. If he would have been more proportioned the game would have looked better - the graphics are not that bad actually.

  • The first "Fleaman" debut i must say? Yes? Lol XD

  • this is such a gay Castlevania knock off

  • @UnshackledMind86 This is arcade game is actually done by Konami, you know, the ones who made Castlevania.

  • @UnshackledMind86

    1) Find a Castlevania wiki.

    2) Search for "Haunted Castle".

    3) Prepare to be enlightened.

  • @UnshackledMind86 ughh... *facepalm*

  • Hahaha the bosses are a bloody joke. Ah ah ah ah ah ah.

  • Never really understood why you teleported like that but those are some cool looking pyramid looking things.

  • He said "F YO SHINS!"

  • Simon: "awesome a sword.... ..... why the hell didn't I think of this sooner! I've had to kill dracula twice with a crappy piece of leather!" lol

  • Wonder why they just didn't call it Castlevania

  • I was rather surprised to see Belmont using an actual morning star, and then a sword. Didn't see that coming.

  • Killer flea butlers..?

That harpy started flying backwards, this game is unrealistic:P

Damn these are the worst bosses ever.

  • WTF JUST AN EASY BOSS

  • @UchihaEnma In the arcade version, the stop watch works against bosses too.

  • Why does he walk around like he needs to take a crap?

  • The bosses in this game are not very intimidating...

  • Why is simon walking like that? what he got stuck in his butt? lol

  • One of the best versions of "Bloody Tears" in my opinion :)

  • What system is this for

  • @professionalpoliwag Arcade in real life and MAME emulation on the PC.

  • OH man fuck those fleaman. In the "normal" version of the game, they take like 1/4th of your health away per hit, and the little bastards keep on pouring in.

  • I like how fleamen doesnt even walk... They just scott around the whole place, like if they had roller skates,

  • That painting in the background crying bloody tears might be how the BGM got it's name

  • awesome song for an odd game

[epicness have to start somewhere IMO]

  • bloody tears!

  • Who dare gives Simon Belmont a sword?

  • NICE BACKGROUNDS

  • wish they also included Vampire Killer or Simons theme

  • Oh..... finally the name bloody tears makes sense to me now..... it 1st appeared in this game in the area where the paintings were crying bloody tears

  • This level has the only familiar 'Castlevania' theme in the entire game.

  • @Launchpad05 no

  • lol at the boss,

"TIME TO DIE BITCH! ...right what do I do now?"

  • 00:32 That's one of the most amusing parts of this game and one of the most random moments in the Castlevania series.

  • lol at this boss...big evil laugh and four seconds later he's dead.

  • Wow not bad for 1988

  • I know right when I heart this was in the late 80's I was suprised. It is really nicely done. Sprites are well animated and the music is pretty well done too.

  • Hell Yeah that game is fuckin tight!!!!

  • WTF is 0:37 - 0:48?

  • this game has such an 80's fell to it. Love it.

  • 1:14 the girl cries bloody tears!! :DD

  • Yep. Hence the name of the song "Bloody Tears".

  • isnt this game the very first occurrence of that particular song?

  • I think so. In fact I'm pretty sure that this game came before Castlevania 2.

  • the bloody ters used 2 scare me as a kid!

  • They got the boss's idea for a stain glassed killer knight from this game when they made Mirror Mirror 2:Raven dance

  • This game was ahead of its time. I mean its over 20 years old.

  • damn your killing it , man!! Ive heard some shit about this games difficulty.

This game just comes from a different time where trial and error is key. Most hard games can be beat as long as you remember the patterns.

  • 1:13 Bloody Tears :DD xDD

    Simon walks handicapped.....terrible....

    good video!

  • Top 5 Castlevania Games

    1. Rondo of Blood

    2. Symphony of the Night

    3. Castlevania Chronicles

    4. Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse

    5. Castlevania Bloodlines

I really need to play Circle of the Moon and beyond though, as I don't have a DS or GBA.

  • You must be smoking some serious stuff!!

    Top 5:

    1. Symphony of the night

    2. Rondo of blood

    3. Super Castlevania 4

    4. Castlevania: Curse of darkness

    5. Castlevania 3: Dracula's Curse

Bloodlines sucked major @ss!!!! and Chronicles was just a remake and not original.

  • What does it matter if Chronicles is a remake? It improved on the original and that's all that should really matter, besides that it's not a complete cut-and-paste job(assuming your talking about the X68000 version in relation to the NES). Bloodlines is a good game, it has some issues but I still consider it superior to SCIV.

It's pretty moronic of you to criticize my top 5 when you've got Curse of Darkness on yours.

  • Who gives a sh*t about Chronicles!

Curse of Darkness was an excellent game with great graphics, gameplay, and an awesome soundtrack.

By the way, you have to be absolutely out of your damn mind for comparing Bloodlines to SC4. SC4 was voted the game of the year in 1991 for a good reason.

Son, you need to go back to Castlevania 101 and educate yourself.

  • Chronicles is one of the best Castlevania games and I'm sure a lot of other people feel the same way, can't say that about CoD. I'm pretty sure it's one of the more shunned games of the series. It had good music but the graphics and gameplay were weak. Hell, the Nintendo 64 games were better than that.

SCIV was 9 levels of boredom and then the last few were good. Plus the graphics looked like mud.

You're the only one that needs educating.

  • Bloodlines is amazing so is chronicles. How can you call those two games crap? Did you get involved in the series before SOTN? Because in my opinion that game is very overrated. It's great but the best ever? don't think so. I've played bloodlines and chronicles much more than symphony of the night. The artwork for chronicles is crap I'll give you that. but the game itself is a vast improvement over the x68000 game. (Especailly in sound department) That's iga's fav vania 1 telling. Over SC4

  • Haunted Castle looks good, but

the Bosses of the different Castles are to weak my script:

The Boss must be strong the same as Simon Belmont!

  • simon walks like if he had a turd coming out his ass....baboon walking mo-fo!!! lol

  • Well, it's a cool game to watch.

  • "Bloody Tears" definitely one of the best and most unforgetable tracks in the entire Castlevania soundtrack.

  • That painting!

Is this where the name of the song came from? Or just a reference to the song?

  • it the name of the song

the blood coming form the lady eye in the painting is a reference to the song it self

  • Would it be interesting to hear this particular level's theme song segueing into the main/dungeon theme song from "Castlevania 64"?

  • I like the music :)

  • wow, the levels are so hard yet the bosses are extremmely easy...

  • Yeah dis the stage I normally GO at. Those fleamen are bitches.

  • thats a big ass dinning room set

  • lol

  • That stage boss reminds me Young Sherlock Holmes...

In fact, I bet they took the idea from that movie, since it looks so identical to the Stained Glass Knight that leaps out of the window in that...

  • What song is a remix of this one on the newer Castlevanias?

  • This one isn't a new CV game. It was created after Castlevania 1 on NES. The music is called Bloody Tears

  • I know this one isn't new, I was asking which new CV remixed this song. It was DoS

  • Castlevania Judgment as well.

  • Super Castlevania IV and Dracula X, both for the Super N.E.S.

  • That picture on 1:14-1:18 is creepy:o

  • i thought that was kinda cool!

  • It is a really hard game specially the US version which will piss you off.

My brother plays it and beats it on 1 coin.

    I watch him play.

That's why you had the stopwatch at the beggining of 3rd stage , caus it makes 2nd boss so much easier >:D.

  • those flea bastards always pissed me off, theyre right up there with the medusas

  • oh god plz tell me this is a joke T.T

  • What do you mean?

  • this game IS HORRIBLE i rather play the NES version a thousand times better than this

  • A sword replaces the Vampire Killer?! Blasphemy!

  • there is one thing i don´t understand, how do dracula survive all the time?

  • The Crimson Stone.

  • The FleaMen take 2 to 3 hits!!!! This has to be a friggin hard ass game even though I've never played it before. Those little creatures have given me problems in all other Castlevania games I've played

  • At 01:15 you can see how the song got the name bloody tears.

  • Apparently yes, and im taken that the frame of the beautiful woman is his late wife Lisa.

  • You mean Simon Belmont? I didn't know he was married before.

  • Actually, I meant Count Dracula. His wife was killed by villagers who thought she was practicing Witchcraft. Its what drove him into madness.(See the Symphony of the Night storyline)

  • Sure everyone realized. The boss was easy as hell though.

  • Excellent observation.

  • @910HesBackAgain good joke but, you must know that bloody tears first appeared in castlevania 2 first.

  • @supergenoseth But Haunted Castle actually went into development well before Castlevania 2 did, and it was originally intended to be Castlevania's sequel. For some reason or another, Haunted Castle's development slowed or got stalled, and Castlevania 2 ended up launching first. But Bloody Tears was composed for Haunted Castle first and named for that large blood-weeping portrait in the stage. And that's why the song's named "Bloody Tears" instead of "Wilderness by Daylight" or somesuch.

  • Say what you want about this game, but not how easily this version of Simon climbs stairs (and can jump on and off and over them, as well as attack on them), something early Castlevanias had big problems with.

  • In my opinion, the graphics of Haunted Castle were a big leap ahead of those of Castlevania 1, 2 and 3; the bigger sprites allowed more detail yet didn't sacrifice speed or playability. Sure, Simon walks with a funny gait...but look how SMOOTHLY he walks compared to his four-frame walking animation in Castlevania. :-)

  • Whats the damage difference between the whip, the mace, and the sword?

  • Whip = 1 hit point

Morning Star = 2 hit points

    Sword = 3 hit points

  • The trade-off comes in range, though; the whip has a longer reach than the morningstar, which has a longer reach than the sword.

Also, props to evilaj2010 for knowing the difference between a morningstar and a mace. ;-)

  • WOW, I love the door effect.

  • let me tell you something if you do not have that improved whip on this level dont even try it those fleas will only die in 4 hits and thats impossible

  • 3 hits actaully, Believe it or not I thought about chalneging myself to beat this game without upgrading the whip but who knows I might try that someday.

  • Could sum1 pleeze tell me how I can find this game???..thanx

  • this game is impossible, but i love it...just got finished playing the video upright in my garage. awesome video...can't go wrong with the bloody tears music either.

  • Wait, Rugal as in CVD Rugal? Cuz that's me and I have a very faint memory of recording this.

  • Actually I am the one who did this run.

  • nice job I can only get as far as stage 2
