  • Well i can't send songs ^_^

  • the GPS works without data plan :D

  • I know the Garmin is an Android phone, but i'm more of an apple iphone girl and I don't know anything about droid phones but does this garmin have the android app world?

  • Is it Life time Map Update?

  • Do you need internet/data plan to get GPS on this phone?? PLEASE ANSWER! I really want this phone, and t-mobile said I do need it, but, people are saying you don't, Please answer! :)

  • @ilovecappuccino1 Well it depends on how many lines you have. How many lines do you have? Cuz if it's just you, then yes you have to buy the plan.

  • I want to have live wallpapers for this phone, but this phone don't have that options. I've try installing a different launcher with live wallpapers it end up didn't work plus it made my home screen > theme options disappear. Master reset probably will fix it. If anyone know how to modded this phone to use live wallpapers please send me a tutorial on how to do it. thanks.

  • @ChineseLoveSong you can't get live wallpapers past its 2.1 firmware, its not the "options" its just the fact that its proprietary software doesn't support it

  • OMG gotta have!

  • Okay maybe some have good luck with this phone, but because of this piece of junk I left T-mobile after 15 years, my first cell phone was with Deutsche Telekom but rolled the account to T-mobile when I transferred to the US. At any rate, we upgraded it, we replaced it three times, I bought all the apps they said to control the OUT OF CONTROL number of junk apps that loaded on their own, for things I didn't have accounts for like Twitter.

  • cont...The final straw was I was going to pay my cell bill and saw a friend broke down, He did not have his cell with him... But no problem I have mine. I tried to make a call but I only got the spinning pinwheel, but funny enough I was still receiving ads for pizzahut..... I told my friend what do you bet if I press one of these ads it with launch instead of me being able to make a call?

  • yep you guessed it. Google maps popped up and showed me all the locations I could buy a pizza and even when I selected one of the spots it allowed me to call one of the restaurants.... but I could not after 5 minutes of waiting call roadside assistance...and that was not the only time I have stuff like that happen. Goodbye and good riddance you hunk of junk

  • This phone is a piece of shit, i have tmobile and used my contract upgrade to get it a month ago. The gps side of it works fine, it makes calls fine, it however has many problems with the wi-fi part of the phone. It will connect to wi-fil and only work for about a minute at a time, you have to reconnect each time it loses connection. Other android phones used on my network have no problems whatsoever. Right after I received my phone tmobile quit carrying this model. No warranty now!

  • @beast6228 could be ur internet problem not the phone. Work fine for me. never got disconnection issue.

  • @ChineseLoveSong I finally fixed the phone, I had to download an app called FXR wifi fixer, cured my problem instantly. Apparently some operating system files were bad or something.

  • @Charger2127 he paid 200$ for THE 2 YEAR CONTRACT WHILE YOU DIDNT RETARD! WOW U SO STUPID!

  • HOW DO U MAKE THE LETTER BIG ON THE GARMINFONE?

  • HOW DO U MAKE THE LETTER BIG ON THE GARMINFONE?

  • HOW DO U MAKE THE LETTER BIG ON THE GARMINFONE?

  • can't believe u squeezed the box in the beginning of your video, there is obviously finger-hole for lifting the phone, lol

  • DONT GET THIS PHONE. i HAVE HAD IT FOR ALMOST THREE WEEKS BUT I HATE IT! wHY? BECAUSE I CANT HANG UP MY CALLS SO EVERYONE HEARS WHATS GOING ON. IN ORDER TO HANG UP THE CALL I HAVE TO REMOVE THE BATTERY CUZ THE TOUCH SCREEN WIL JUST FREEZE. TAKES A VERY LONG TIME TO DIAL TO. GPS CORDINATES ARE NOT EXACT. EXAMPLE I LIVE ON 1434 FAKE STREET AND THE GPS READS MY LOCATION AS 1476 FAKE STREET. WTF?!?

  • @tattiipr Yeah this happened to me a lot, They said the android update would fix it, but no it just sucked more after the "upgrade"

  • @tattiipr calm down, i have one and its perfectly fine... its my sixth month with it

  • how do you download a message from a text message...

  • I got one of these about a month ago for free from T-Mobile. On top of that they gave me unlimited web access added to my loyalty plan. I love it, I drive a lot and the GPS is great. I take/make calls right from the dash mount with the speaker and it sounds fine.

  • its funny because im watching this video on the Garmin! :) and yours was 199$ mine was 450$...

  • "its taking longer then it did earlier" maybe the phone is camera shy:P lol also i have this phone!

  • will it cost me and fees if i use the internet, maps, 3Gs without a web plan?

  • everyone trust me garminfone is been very good with the new update 2.1..at first i like it like 20% but with tthe new update i like 95% i like everyone to buy this and if u have problem upgrading inbox me and i will tell u abt it..u also can download: live home theme which is very good i think everyone should get this!!

  • can someone please answer my question,

does this require internet/data plan? because i want this phone for text and calling and thats it...

  • @KatyRocksYo yeah you have to have a data plan

  • @KatyRocksYo Then why are you looking at a GPS phone with all the other bells and whistles? It seems like you would want to look at regular cell phones.

  • can it play youtube videos

  • how many gb does it have plz write back

  • how many gb does it have plz write back

  • THIS PHONE HAS AN ANDROID UPDATE TO 2.1!!! CHECK MY VIDEOS FOR THE VIDEO AND LINK TO THE UPDATE!

  • wtf is this 59 cents shit?!

  • does this phone still run 1,6 version of android?

  • VERY complete video thank you for not just talking about the GPS fonctionality.

  • This phone sucks. Get a my touch 3G or my touch 3G slide

  • @rahmanroni Are you serious? You must not own a Garminfone because if you truly did, you wouldn't have made that statement. Mytouch was a horrible rip off of the first Android phone, even HTC admitted to basically copying the same platform from the G1 and just adding the Cupcake upgrade as the phones operating system.

  • @rahmanroni btw, like I said, how would you know it sucked if you've never purchased one? Sound a bit bitter to me. I had the Mytouch and G1. Both phones were crap. On 2 different G1 phones I got the rainbow screen of death (the green, red, orange color screen), then tmobile sent me a Mytouch and it was GOD awful -same issues. I had to reload the software 3 times and I did nothing in regards to adding apps. The phones where just Crap!!!

  • @PhillipRansburg 1. I said you are a protecting garmin phone like how an apple fanbboy protects all their shitty products.

    2. You are a retard. Cupcake is the name of Anndroid version 1.6 which was in G1, the first MyTouch and a lot of other phones. MyTouch and slide are made by HTC just like the G1, however they now support android 2.2 (froyo). And how is MyTouch 3g slide a copy of G1. They are made by the same ppl, but MyTouch is faster and better. And show me where HTC says its a copy.

  • @PhillipRansburg 1. Your a moron, ur arguing w/me over a Phone you don't own. You are a bigger moron still for saying im arguing with you when you are the one who replied to my original comment. 2. It was in a playlist. 3.I currently use a evo4g so no, im not protecting Mt3g, im just pointing out facts you overlooked and said gramin phone sucks cause for one, it uses an outdated os, two its camera and screen sucks. Look at some user reviews, the phones pretty bad/useless.

  • @rahmanroni Ok, first off, please do ur research. I'm runnin 2.1 and its better than any other droid phone I've owned thus far. Of course its in Beta so it will only get better. How do I have it, well I'll let you think about that. u say 1.6 for Gfone is outdated? WRONG! First off, 1.6 was a redesign exclusively for the Gfone so its not running on the same platform as other 1.6 units. u just proved my point moron, ur reading reviews, I hav a front row seat to kno that ur comments are shit.

  • @PhillipRansburg And how is reading reviews make my comments shit? At the end of the day, good phones will get good ratings. Im sorry I dont watch a video by someone who is probably paid to review phones and possibly to give them good rating then call it research. And the current version is 2.2 if 1.6 isnt pretty outdated, I dont know what is. Even if they did "redesign" it, it would be just like buying a windows xp pc with a windows 7 themepack and a sticker.

  • @rahmanroni u hav the evo4g HA! What a joke. So hows the light leakage, the bat, the re-setting by itself issue. Also, hows Sprint Nav workin for u. Dude, your phone sucks. Its built on a powerful platform but the phone sucks. 4G Ha!! Shitty just like Sprints ION services in 2000. There are tons of problems with the evo4g, can u name at least 5 issues with the Gfone. NO! But to make it worse they charge you $10 premium service automatically thats BS No 4G available in all areas sucks even more.

  • @PhillipRansburg Wtf are you talking about? I never had any light leakage, the bat or re-setting by itself issues. Do your own research, these seem to affect only one batch of phones. & yes, sprint sucks, thats why I got it unlocked on t-mobile. Stop trying to change the convo. This isnt about evo. And 1.6 wasn't redesigned. Its just a freaking UI. And your phone is so good that the battery life sucks, outdated os, has a crappy camera. Numbers dont lie Look at its sales, biggest flop since kin

  • @rahmanroni You can pretty much google the light leakage issue. Hell you could youtube it to see it in action. this is a known issue and I'm sure ur unit will experience it. Also idiot, we are on subject of the Gfone, no one switched topics. Gawd, you are an idiot, anyone could look at the Gfone OS and notice the 1.6 was written different dumbass. Also, Battery life sucks!!! right...not an reported issue. Crappy camera? Btw, there was no marketing for this phone idiot. Now lets continue.......

  • @rahmanroni Also, I just caught u in a lie. Dude, u don't have the Evo4g. Cus if u did, u would know that an EVO COULD NOT BE FLASHED WITH TMOBILE NETWORKS. 1st off, Sprint uses CDMA format and Tmobile uses GSM. So tell me, how can u use a phone which supports CDMA on a GSM network? Tmobile uses sim cards, the EVO CANT EXCEPT SIM CARDS DUMMY. ur full of 5hit. Evo on a tmobile network..lol..what a joke. dude I use to work for Sprint and Tmobile software department and arguing with u is a joke.

  • @PhillipRansburg And as I said, yes, Evo has leakage issues, but its not wide spread. Ive had my evo since launch and no issues so far, and it only seems to affect 1 batch. Also, im not surprised that no one wasted money marketing such a outdated device. I only expect these types of phones from Apple, who are still playing catchup, but still sell like hot-cakes because its flashy and overpriced. The navigation on this phone is no doubt great, but thats the only great thing.

  • @rahmanroni a CDMA phone on a GSM network...lol..lol..LMAO. Now I know your an idiot..ha ha ha..argument over. Dude, go back to gaming. you probably a little 15 year old who can't even legally own a cell phone plan. I assure you, you didn't flash an evo to a tmobile network. There is no way possible you could do this. Everything you mentioned prior has been tossed out the window. Your an idiot. CDMA phone on a GSM network...riiiiiiiiiiiight...lol...

  • @PhillipRansburg Ok, let me re-word that. I got the phone rooted at a t-mobile store where my friend works, he is a freaking phone geek. If you dont know what that is, its like jail breaking. It lets you do extra stuff, like use apps that Sprint doesnt allow. And I already said, t-mobile is loosing customers and Im one of them. And yes, New York has really good coverage. Its no fucking secret that Sprint, along with Verizone uses CDMA, which sucks cause for t-mobile.

  • @rahmanroni No you didn't. I assure you your friend didn't root your phone to tmobile. If you show me this on a youtube vid, he's have accomplished something our engineers who have years of schooling can't do. And besides, if he's that good then why isn't he a programmer or engineer for tmobile instead of working in a retail outlet? THERE IS NO WAY THIS IS POSSIBLE. No matter what you do you cannot simply root a CDMA to GSM. Prove it. Show me a vid. No bullshit back talk. Lets see the vid.

  • @rahmanroni Also, CDMA takes an entirely different approach from GSM/TDMA. CDMA spreads data out over the channel after the channel is digitized where GSM operates on four separate frequencies. So you see, there is no way you can root a CDMA to GSM. Dude, do your home work. Like I said, I would like to see a vid of CDMA phone rooted to tmobile. I know you don't understand because you confused an unlocked phone to a phone being rooted. FAIL!!!!!!

  • @PhillipRansburg He might have his rooting and unlocking mixed up, but hes got some points. It aint the worst phone ive used, not by a long shot, but gotta say, it feels lacking compared to other phones. And that gps really eats up that battery compared to the gps on iPhone 3g (I had enough with AT&T's shitty network and how they say its the users fault that their network sucks, finally switched over last week). They really could have made this phone better, damn is this phone fat.

  • @Deathsulfur As a Software Engineer for a major Tech. company, this is not possible. CDMA runs data over a channel where GSM runs on four diff. frequencies (MHz). The GPS is fine. It doesn't draw the battery down. there's a clip here showin the bat. life in action in conjunction w/the GPS. Where did u see it lackin? If anythin, I dnt like that Garmin fitted the unit w/its own version of 1.6 which is why 2.1 is a better UI. After updating the Gphone its now on par w/other droid units. I like it

  • @PhillipRansburg Sorry for the misunderstanding, but I didnt mean to saying its using t-mobile's network, as it is no doubt impossible, I just said I got it rooted by my friend who works at a t-mobile shop so it wont have any restrictions on apps set by sprint, its still running on sprints network, and im still a sprint customer. It has no attachment to t-mobile what so ever other than the person who rooted it for me, ( my friend who works for t-mobile).

  • @PhillipRansburg is the garmingfone upgradable to android 2.2? with it being on 1.6 that is one major thing keeping me from purchasing the phone. that and i need it unlocked to use it on att

  • @PhillipRansburg Tell me, whats the point of this phone anyway. All Android phones already have google maps. Gain: Offline Maps Loss: Decent hardware Up to date software Speed in apps and in browsers tethering flash A whole bunch of new capabilities not implemented in 1.6 You know why T-Mobile is loosing customers to Sprint & Verizone even though T-Mobile has better network? Its because of their inability to put out good and/or powerful phones like Evo and Droid. It sucks that Samsung blew it.
  • @PhillipRansburg 4. Yes MyTouch 3G Slide is faster than G1. 5.Its not their fault you cant insert a sd card the correct way. 6. How some you are the only one that seems to have these lag and sd cards being killed problems. cough*bs lies*cough

  • @PhillipRansburg *6. How come you are the only one that seems to have these lag and sd cards being killed problems. cough*bs lies*cough

  • will the gps work without a data plan

  • @bbunztran Yes, because the maps are preloaded in the Phone. So unlike other applications, the Garmin maps will be available if you've lost coverage.

  • how do you set music as ringtones?

  • They butchered android with that U I.

  • it runs on android but it doesnt look like it

  • the 1.6 is actually pretty good ,dont know why everyone disses this phone i use it much more than my droid....has all the features my droid has plus a better navigation plus it also has a few things that are in my friend droid x...give it a chance

  • @zebz928 you should download the free app trapster, it warns you of all the common police speed traps, incase your a baller driver

  • Things to Improve

    1. This phone's alarm does not work if it is power off.

    2. The browser's auto fitting is not nearly as good as other smartphone.

    3. Old version of Android on a new phone.

    4. The GPS is glitchy that sometimes, there are no voice.

    5. Either the accelerometer or the software is glitchy.

    6. The power button could be sensitive when using holding the phone typing can cause it to go standby.

    7. The OS runs sluggish.

    8. No flash

    9. Mini USB headphone only.

  • @kkra3 I think this may just be your phone. I haven't had any issue's with mine. I'm sure there aren't any software updates yet but you may want to check your software version and go to garmin.com to see if there are any updates available.

  • Does anyone know what the battery life is like on this phone?

  • this phone makes me gag. is there a point to having android on it?

  • @samnovy123 Why, because you don't have one? There is a point, obviously Android is the best operating system, so why not have it with the best Navigation provider?

  • I was told you have to pay for updated gps/maps, which turned me off immediately. Any blackberry or android phone obviously would be a better choice due to the maps updating for free. Do not buy this phone solely based on the emphasis on navigation.

  • @Verruckt20 I will disagree with you. First off, Garmin does not charge you to update your maps. I am NOT sure where you got your info. Whoever told you was wrong. This is a free update. The update can take a while depending on your internet connection. Blackberry or Android phone would be better? Huh?! Let me tell you this, unless you are getting your maps from TomTom, some maps you purchase from the Android Market WILL not work if you lose coverage where the Garmin maps will.

  • @PhillipRansburg Just admit you fucked up and got this phone instead of something else that costs as much but is better. You sound like an apple fanboy who bought a mac only to realize that other ppl has pc's with better specs for less money and then they try franticly to defend it and call everything else shitty or a ripoff or a copy.

  • @rahmanroni Considering the fact the the phone is more of a GPS unit - this is the reason for my purchase, besides, I got a good discount on the unit and already had A LOT of knowledge of the unit before I purchased it. So it would have been dumb of me to get a competitors phone. Also, I would never use an Apple. I'm PC. Anyone who has a brain would tell you that the Mytouch was a rip off of the G1 (cupcake). Btw, I got two Garminfones for 170.00 with tax and the phones work GREAT.

  • u might wanna take all the plastic apart before you show us. it make your video less sloppy and unattractive fool

  • Seems like an decent phone but nothing compared to my Incredible. If I was on T-Mobile I'd consider getting it.

  • Is MSN Messenger a possible application fort he Garminfone?

  • can u put movies on this phone?

  • i got this phone for free and personally i like it i can breeze through everything in it everything is really simple to use and the navigation works really good minus the ocassional missing dirt road in the middle of bum fuck no where i have no problems with the touch screen and i have a screen protector on mine

  • @elhoobanebre you should note that smartphones these days use high quality glass. There is really no need for screen protectors anymore. Unless you just want a nuisance in your way =]

  • not impressed at all

  • is the touchscreen sensible as the iphone?

  • @elvrdugo yea i tried it it feels nice

  • I love how the gps works even if the phone has no service. Its awesome great job garmin

  • loook @ all the fingerprints on it/.

  • is there anyway to customize the interface as if you were to "jailbreak" it?

  • Android 1.6?? is this a joke?? lol

  • it just got released!!!

  • My touch slide>Garmin-Asus Garminfone

  • running android 1.6???????????? HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA joke of a phone

  • It seems the phone overall response time is a bit slow. I will need to play with that before I make a final decision between this and the HD2. Thanks for the vid. :)

  • They could at least have the right spelling for PHONE not FONE.. :\

  • looks great... but am thinking about the My touch slide... dude if the phone isnt out yet.. how did you get it?

  • @curlyboy1986 It's a review unit so we had it a few days ahead of launch

  • I'll be first in line to get that phone, I can see I'll love it, very nice.

  • does the gps work without a dataplan? meaning are the maps stored on phone?

  • The phone response seems to be a bit slow. I'll have to play with that at the store to decide between HD2 and this phone. Great vid. Thx for doing this :)

  • @derekoeur That's right, all preloaded and no 3G data connection needed during the navigation.

  • @derekoeur yea its like any other gps

  • Huh so it came to T-Mobile. It's not that bad but yeah.....only for people who seriously need this as a navigator. But physically, the phone's design looks pretty nice :D

    Interface doesn't look that bad either actually, definitely better than their previous version =_=;;

  • Im pretty sure I cant get this. Its gonna be like 149.99 and it requires a 30.00 a month data plan.

Pretty much like all the overpriced smartphone and smartphone plans from t-mobile.

  • I dunno.. It looks pretty, but im not all GPS so it is not for me, but I like it esthetically, and it seems half decent. The No Flash I could live without, but in this day and age where 3.5 should be standard .. I have to say, shame on Garmin. Lol.

    Thanks for the review :)

  • this is sooo customized android :(

  • Why?

  • DANG it wheres michael?! LOL

  • @ItsAndroidsWorld I'm on vacation, but still doing videos. Just not all of them. I did just buy another HD camera, though, so Todd will be doing HD videos soon enough.

  • Decent phone with a different focus but not for me.

  • its nice

  • garmin phone... just sounds so wrong..

  • @wbi007 Not a great name, for sure.

  • @mobileburn Witch leads to the conclusion: Iphone is a bad bad bad name ;)

  • @wbi007 the arrow is even more wrong xD

  • @nilsepils94 The arrow? :P

  • @wbi007 on the box it looks like a thingie between your legs (only when you are a boy or having sexual intercourse) xD
