  • 25 billion over budget and five yrs late... Obama is hiring...

  • i have a question for you, what exactly do you do for a living?, are you a student?, are you studying aeronautical engineering?how do you get by? i mean are you trying to make your way into a career with Boeing, i understand your love for aircraft, i also love airplanes, but what are you doing about it? do you want to become a pilot? if you are still young, you should join the air force and become a pilot, thats the best way to get a job as an airline pilot,

  • @stephenzenaida i have two buddies when we were in high school we went out to the local air force base and joined the civil air patrol, they had a pilot training program, my mom couldnt afford to drive me everyday so i had to quit, but my two buddies kept going in the CAP, eventually they became ROTC, then they went to college and also wrote to the congressman, and got accepted to the air force academy , now one flies the F-15 eagle,my other friend became aC17 pilot, and flies for alaska air

  • Huh?

  • yo cuzzz u should let me get that model out ur hands its nice how much u want for it

  • what are you blabbering on about, thats just a toy plane and you are just talking words, I dont think anyone would hire you as a spokesman, you are very dull ;-)

  • Dude, I work on the 787, and have the larger model, it's not accurate as far as proportions. the one you have looks good though. It's a very interesting plane to work on. As soon as they hit the runways commercially you people will love it.

  • Fake and gay!!!! Nah just kidding.. So that explains the delay.. You're a nerd but the only exception is that you like airplanes..the cool side of it.

  • Track the Dreamliner in my channel. Look in the description.

  • where can i get that sweet model you are holding ?

  • @1Gaumer Hey! Send the magnificent model plane to me through the mail. I will give you my mailing address. lol J/K

  • Have you ever seen the 777 flex test that was insane. So what they took a delay how many lives has the triple seven taken not many if any at all.

  • The 787 mock up took a huge load on the flex test! How much better do they want it to be?

They may be polishing the cannonball here. If the plane is safe, get it out and you can always add a reinforcing strip of something later if you want it to be even more "Scotty factor" built in.

  • Don't quote me but I think the parameter needs to be around 150% of design loading.

The problem of adding a fix later is that airlines would have to take the planes out of revenue service while the fix was being done and, from my experience, the wing box area is not the easiest area on any aircraft to get to to work on. Far better/safer to fix the problem before delivery to the customer.

  • I just looked it up:

As required by the FAA, all commercial aircraft must be able to withstand at least three seconds of 150% expected maximum loads on all major structures.

For a historical comparison in January 1995, the 777's wings deflected 24 feet at 154% max load before they snapped in.

  • I want that model =)

  • because I collect airplane models....and I was working at Boeing at one time and never got to work on the plane I was hired to work on......

  • @mtech back off...i want it too...hahaha, JK...no really i want one too!!!

  • Youngfart,

I beg to differ, 787 is nothing special. What it represents is a silly evolution of current aircraft.

Use of CFRP on primary structure is a dead end. MMC (matrix metal composite) is the way to go. Stronger than CFRP and none of the disadvantages.

Boeing are looking like fools over this overhyped folly of a project.

  • Jon, I can say without a DOUBT, U need pussy. NOT a four legged pussy cat name Wilma, BUT the good ol goodness pussy.

Jon turn around and pull the stick out ur ass. loosen up buddy.

Boeing has issues with this plane, as reported by 60 minutes.

  • the 787 is a radically different plane compared to past ones, it really is a new era in aviation design. The only thing it has in common with previous aircraft is that it flies(hopefully) and it is called an airplane. So its not surprising that it is having delays.

  • Wow Jon ... over 30K views ... that's IMPRESSIVE ... keep up the GREAT work ... (from Bert in San Diego)

  • 787 delayed again. Damn. What a nightmare for boeing. Probably going to loose more then the 15 orders already lost.

  • Does it bloody matter? What a stupid question

  • I can only shake my head to this premature comment.

  • voterpromoter should be banned from YouTube. What a total idiot!

Very good presentation by Ostrower. Thank you.

  • whats so special about the 787?

  • Are you blind ??

  • I do not care about delay of the first flight, but I want the B787 to be as perfect and safe as it can be!

  • Preach!!!!

  • John, thanks for taking us through the problem Boeing is facing with the 787. Not good news at this very late stage when all eyes are on them to deliver. It's sending shockwaves on the robustness and ultimately the safety of using composites on critical areas of aircraft. Serious stuff.

  • Hi Jon.

    Just subscribed.

I was hoping they were going to finally get up in the air, but I have had my doubts about a carbon-fiber jetliner, for the last several months. Does not seem to be as safe as an all-aluminum airliner, especially around storms and lighning.

Been watching the Flight Blogger for some months now.

    Geoff
