  • I mean 12 seconds is just absolutely pathetic; my '96 Honda Civic LX with 100 HP can do better than that! I swear Dodge makes the worst fucking cars in the world. My dad's 2002 Caravan 2.4L with 150 HP does 0-60 in like 11 seconds. I mean how the hell is the company not learning from it's mistakes? Unbelievable.

  • I have a 2000 Dodge stratus Se, lil 4 banger and no mods done to it and it would beat you considering it does 0-60 in around 11 seconds if you say it was fully loaded with people then there might be some performance problems I have a 98 Durango SLT and no mods and that thing gets up and hauls ass in my opinion with a full load, But im not bagging on your truck or anything and it sucks that yours got totaled I hope you find another like it there the best you can ever buy Hope to hear from you.

  • Lol epic fail, check out the crash test ratings of that time, Durango's are VERY safe, when this exact one was totaled in a crash, nobody was hurt. And as far as 'plastic' goes, ANY newer car have plastic components and Toyota are well known for making cars made almost entirely of it. You're going to have to come up with something better.

The durango's MSRP was twice that of a honda civic at one point, and besides that, my 4.7 litre might get half the plastic cars gas mileage, but weighs 4 times as much, is just as fast (faster with $50 in mods...lol.) and fits twice as many people. So yeah..I choose my badass, sexy pitch-black durango over your "expensive, good" car. Oh and the Durango's payload on the 5.9 is 6,700 LBS. Or 4 of your honda Civics.

  • My '00 R/T with upgraded ignition system, K&N FIPK, superchips 91 performance setting, 52mm TB ran 0-62mph (100km/h) in 6.9 seconds with minimal wheelspin at launch. If I launced properly and dropped the transmission into gear at 2500rpm I could have probably squeezed out a 6.7-6.8sec time at the track.

  • You can definitely tell it has to do with the 'Check Engine' light being on. My mom's Durango has the same engine and it can do 0-60 pretty quick (don't know the exact figure, but it's quicker than my car which is 8.0 seconds)

  • I have a few mods as well to my 2K R/T. Including superchips 91 performance setting, K&N intake, Taylor wires with MSD6A unit and a 52mm TB. The engine takes in more air than it can get rid of so an exhaust is in order. My last AWD dyno resulted in 268hp@4400rpm at all wheels. Stock, it barely touched 210hp@4000rpm. My latest track test netted me 0-60 in 7.4 seconds with a full load of fuel. Stock R/T is rated at 8.1sec 0-60. So it's a good improvement and low end picked up a lot around town!

  • Just to let everybody know, the Durango met a tragic demise a few weeks ago when my friend's dad drove off the road and crashed. Nobody was hurt except for the car which was totaled.

  • Different year!!! They do change redlines in different years! I have a 97 f150 that (before mods) redlines at 4500 rpm and the 99 redlines at 4900 (both 5.4l)

  • I am waiting for the TRD supercharger to come out so I can install it along with intake and exhaust so I can rip from 0-60 in the 4 second range. It is pretty amazing stock though at 6.1 seconds

  • @bgoins12 Weight no doubt... maybe the transmission limits the speed a bit as well. The 4.7 in a 99 Jeep grand cherokee is much slower than the 5.9 98 grand cherokee. Does the durango use a 46RE transmission as well?

  • Let's all get defensive, why don't we? I drive a fullsize van with the 5.2, weighs 5300 pounds, 0-60 of 11 seconds. I'm currently converting it to high-flow (dynomax super turbo, magnaflow catcon). Let's see what difference that may make (Mine also slows way the hell down at 50mph)

  • Well this video was taken a year ago and his Durango still runs like a champ (besides the lack of power)  I the the Check Engine light was because of an o2 sensor.

  • What year.. I had a 99 I went form fuse in the engine to alternator to other fuse in the tranny to blown heads to more fuses.. Then the trany start to ship 2nd and 3rd gear "which I think is your unpowered part". Then after a whole year of the truck running for two days at a time in a week I trade the bitch in.. I'm a pround Ford owner..

  • the reason you had problems with yours is because you didnt take care of it . if you take care of a dodge they will last forever. dodge has the longest lasting american desel pickup. if your really easy on it it will go for 400,000 miles. if you have a little fun evry once in a while youll get 350,000 out of it before problems start setting in.

    OO may.. Frist water pumb when out.. Under warranty cost out of my pocket 500 bucks.. O found out the engine was linking other 250 to fix it.. Still under warranty miles 32K.. At 34K fuse keeps going out every 2 day or so.. Form alternator fuses to the fucking alternator.. Then a fuse goes out of the trany.. Cost 100 per fuse.. Still under warranty.. Over cost on that.. 500+ dallors..

  • After getting the truck looked at a 5 star dodge Reno.. 10 miles down the road trany started to jump.. Took to dodge they said it was fine.. Took to a shop they said the trany was gone..

    Took it back to dodge.. Dodge did notting still under warranty.. Keep the bitch for other 4 months fix it every day.. Still under warranty..

    Then traded it in for a Ford..

  • Something's definitely not right with that Durango doing 0-60 around 12 seconds. Definitely not making the power. Stock 0-60 would be much quicker, especially with the tow package.

  • holy dogshit those 5.9s are slow. I prefer the 4.7 over anything. Mine hauls balls with the addition of a nice tune and k&n intake.

  • i own 2001 245hp SLT V8, the official times is 9.1s 0-60. but i changed that, i did 2 little modifications that bumped my car to 295hp and 385 lb/tq. now its in the sports sedan range.

  • You have the 5.9 too? im not sure what you did, because i cant think of any two small mods that can bump you that high. Especially when your 5.9 is only getting about 200hp and 280tq to the wheels.

  • fyi- I have a 5.2 durango /w intake, ported tb, headers, exhaust, plugs/wires, superchips, and a 180tstat and i know i didnt gain 50hp from that. my 5.2 got stock about 190hp and 270tq to the wheels, im guessing that i have around 220hp and roughly 300tq to the wheels after all that. so, if you really did do two small mods id love to know so i can do them two, but honestly i dont see how thats possible. sorry kid.

  • If your Explorer can do 0-60 in 7.3, and their Durango is completely stock then there is no way it would beat you. I'm pretty sure the official 0-60 time for the D with the 5.9 liter is 8.5 so I'd say you would probably win that race.

  • Mine is a 2003 SXT 4x4. Only mods are a dynomax muffler, and the resonator removed off the intake.

  • You definantely have something wrong with it. My '03 with the 4.7 pulls a 8.5 sec 0-60. Did you reroute your plug wires and only use copper core champion plugs? Otherwise, you may be getting excessive pinging, its common on the 5.2 and 5.9 powered durangos.
