I like Atlanta. All trucks must go around the beltway. I wish Denver would require all trucks stay off I-70 and I 25. I know that is impossible, but it would be nice.
@SilverFox466 ... and when I am flying a small private airplane, it would be so nice if ATC would make all those big passenger jets fly out of my way when I get around an airport..
@SilverFox466 indeed sir.. What if UPS, Fed-Ex and all the other commercial traffic in the air had to 'go around' all the little planes in the air.. Its a direct analogy.. And ship traffic, what if all those commercial container vessels had to get out of the way of the little run-about's? the *mode* of transport is not the issue..
@hwoods01 In Atlanta there are truck routes. Trucks that have deliveries in the city are allowed to take routes through the city, but they must have the bills to show their destination. Denver is similar, if trucks that do not need to go through the city should be routed around the city using toll route. It would a. cost tax payers less for repairs, b. decrease traffic and c. increase fuel efficiency. I hate getting stuck behind a truck doing 60 MPH in a 75 MPH zone.
@rockinfaceplant0000 Fuckin' dumb ass truckers????? Screw you ya little 24 yr old bitch, us truckers are the safest, most observant drivers on the road. It's you and your buddies who race around in your tiny little Hondas that are the real "fuckin dumb asses"
@6ktp9 ok i wanna say how big of a douche you are but you just did that urself.first of all i dont own a honda never have never will i hate honda and i have never raced on the street.the dumb ass truckers think they own the road i dont care if they deliver the shit we use because its just a job and its not like they dont love what they do for a living!! they lose tires without even knowing it killing people and injuring people most of the time they dont get punished cuz they take off unaware !!
I have to agree there. The roads in the US are littered with large chunks of retread just like the piece that busted this guy's windshield. The rational for retreading a tire is understood but at some point cost savings to the trucker isn't worth it. Currently they are getting away with it because there is no way to track the debris to a certain truck. If there were, the practice would stop because of liability issues. The truckers just take the position that it's not their problem.
You got bit by a gator. Luckily it was just a little nibble. A big one can break stuff pretty easily. I'd hate to be on my bike and catch a big one across my chest or helmet.
They are lower cost way to re-use truck tire. Unfortunately it's hard to know "exactly" when they will peel off. They are generally safe though...1 in 1000 fly apart
Yep....you who drive Honda's,..Mazda's etc, give yourself a little space away from heavy trucks. ..stones are sometimes flipped off tarps,..pcs of scrap metal bounce out,..trailer pieces fall off
That was a tire blowout. Some tires, usually the drive tires are retreads. So sometimes the tread falls off. That is very hard rubber, and it can break things.
@whb1965 we run mostly all retreads and in the past year I have had 3 blowouts. That is not bad considering we are talking about over a thousand pieces of equipment. It all has to do with a good inspection. Are they inflated to the proper pressure? Are there any obvious defects such as cuts, bulges, or foreign objects embedded in the tire? Most of the time it is a pressure issue from something stuck in the tire giving it a slow leak. Them dump trucks really run heavy. A low tire has no chance.
my dad was driving down a busy road when a hauler truck in front of him lost a 10 inch boulder out of the back and it fell onto my dads windshield and busted it, lol
I was driving down the interstate once and got hit with a tire tread from a blown tire. It didn't crack the glass. Then later on a bird flew out in front of me, still didn't crack the windshield. I must have one strong windshield lol.
I was going down a road with a truck in front of me, kept my distance (as you would), but even so, a pebble somehow bounced off its tyre and flicked onto my windscreen creating a crack in the window, imagine if I was in a scooter with an open face helmet?
@2driftlong If you're on a scooter behind a semi on a (pebble-free) highway, you still got a death wish. Ever see Pushing Tin? You'd be rag dolled from the turbulence. Just make sure you got a friend behind you with the camera rolling, you might win $10,000 on AFV!
lol, I mentioned the scooter because I'm currently in south east asia where scooters are common, and so are trucks, big ones, it's a good thing they are speed limited to 40-50 kph. While the helmets are open face, I do wear my own clear plastic glasses, I hate the dust fragments going in my eyes and I've seen some blind ppl here, and I don't want to be like them. Pushing tin? trucks don't have turbines man :D & if u go same speed as truck, wind force is absent. AFV...haven't seen that in ages.
@2driftlong Oh yeah man, I know exactly what ur saying, same thing happend to me, I was driving at the safe amounted distance, and a little pebble hit my window made a crac straight infront of me face O.O... Imagen if I was riding my motorcycle lol.. Although I ride full face no matter what.
@2driftlong Most motorcycle riders try not to follow trucks to close because of the air turbulence and the dust they kick up, also if a chunk of tire falls off like this video it could kill you
@2driftlong when i was five a tire came off a semi, hit the median and bounced onto our winshield, i was sitting on my cousins lap when the glass shattered just inches from my face
@CSS171717 no you cannot... do your research don't belive me? then your just dumb... try driving a demag ac 100 for 30 years as a job... and you will know exactly what you can and can't do
how in the name of zeus's FUCKING butthole does driving a crane for 30 years mean you know whether half face helmets are legal? Of course they're allowed you daft twat
@CSS171717 ok now why does a dumbarse like you think you know anything? you cant have a scooter on the motorway... and you cant have a open faced helmet that exposes the chin up to the eyes if your going on the motorway...
i hate retreads. i hit one laying in the middle of my lane coming around a turn in my camaro. the thing way almost across the lane on its side. hade to stop and make sure that everything was fine on my car with how hard i hit it then turned around and took it out of the road so no one else would hit it
I always wondered how people react when tires from semis tear off...Good control.
