  • Will a Mac Pro two Dual-Core 2.66GHz work for Pro Tools HD 9?

  • Anybody know how to update your protools?? Also the protools i have doesnt have as many plugins as others i see videos of on here on youtube. Can anybody please help me?

  • another greedy fat marketing k u n t, HEAT does not need hardware, pro tools has tons of artificial limitations so that customers get trapped into buying their hardware, you guys are the lowest liars on the planet!

  • Can i use pro tools HD 8 without hardware like i would use for reason 5? I dont need hardware for reason 5 though. I just install and make beats right away. No hardware required. Im looking for pro tools to mix everything i make inside reason. can somebody shine some light on this?

  • @djcreation24 Any version of pro tools requires hardware protools HD 8 requires hardware that begins in the thousand like that soundboard you just saw. 8 LE requires something like the Mbox2. Pro tools M-powered requires something like the m-audio fast track. And pro tools M-audio 8 requires something like M-audio producer microphone .

  • Fl Studio is for ''More'' home making music.. Pro Tools is for the pepz whose serius with thr production :D CHECK MY CHANNEL OUT !!! BEST SHIIT OUT THR :D

  • will this work with the m-audio fast track please respond

  • so basically they are just catching up to logic but still limiting the tracks for nothing but greed and not compatable with hd systems, which, btw, need an update as well :(

  • i think that fl studios is coming up in the world, i like it better anyone else?

  • @kennykensworth i agree, especially when they come out it version 9.5 which has 64 bit support. I believe FL Studio 10 will be the best DAW out there

  • What exactly may i ask is the difference between Pro Tools HD, Le, and M-powered? Also, will Pro Tools (any of the 3 versions) work with Behringer mixers or is it limited to DigiDesign hardware?

  • @22shr LE and M-Powered are essentially the same. They do all the processing on the host CPU. Their are a lot of really technical differences with HD but basically their are 2 main differences. 1. Processing can be done on the host CPU as well as on HD accell process cards inside the computer. 2. The amount of simultaneous inputs and outputs is dependent on the amount of HD accell cards and inputs and is virtually unlimited while on LE and M Powered you are limited to 18 in and 18 out.

  • graphics melt when u open the playlist!can t believe it on PT 8 on HD 4!

  • Hey digidesign musicians

Is really pro tools mpowered 8 that inexpensive, the price for students is just $149, or the academic version is more limited.

  • yeah it is, its kind of shit compared to pro tools HD

  • U can sweat less with Nuendo on MIDI!heheheh

  • nuendo did all that shit a long long long long time ago.. but protools is still more fun to use... i dont know why./. I think its a conspiracy....who's with me??!?!

  • Doesn't matter which one if you can't mix and your master sucks. Digital music is digital music. It's whatever you prefer. But if you can't mix, and your tracks are lame the so will you final product.

    Happy Hunting!

  • @ThaJuse I HEAARD THAT NO MATTER WHAT THE PROGRAM IS U STILL HAVE TO MAKE THE TRACK SOUND GOOD PERIOD!

  • @ThaJuse Not true. The algorithms in HD that are used to process the audio are quite different. Their is a big difference in sound when you A/B the two. I've done a mix on my HD rig without using delay compensation and then bounced it down in both HD and an LE rig with identical plugins and the 2 didn't phase each other out. The converters on the 192 and 96 I/O are considerably better as well. A lot more fidelity. I plan on doing a video A/B ing the two soon.

  • same

  • LOLOLOL fix the nagging about the buffers....

All these features are in Cubase for more than decades.

    MIDI? keep trying DIGI!!

  • Man then which one better Cubase? Pro Tools? Which onnnnnnnnnneeeeeeeeeee!

  • pro tools is wayyy better

  • yea but seems pretty priporiotory which to me isn't good

  • @emkplayboy6 Depends on what you prefer. I personally am a pro tools guy. Everybody has it and its pretty intuitive. I know a few great engineers that use Cubase too. You might want to take a look at nuendo as well It's like cubase on steroids. My biggest piece of advice if you don't go with Pro Tools is to make sure you don't get a cheap converter. The higher end stuff is more expensive but It will give you an edge on the guy using the cheap stuff. Also look into good clocking

  • @RainKingRecording ok man cool thanks for the advice! I've heard of Nuendo before too and have messed around with Cubas. As for pro tools it just seems too expensive compared to some others!

  • @emkplayboy6 Well pro tools is actually a lot cheaper if you consider that you won't need to buy the software and hardware separately. For less then 1500 you can get a 003 with pro tools.

  • Does anybody know how to access Elastic time. Is it in the plus-ins or the audio studio? Please provide info

  • its under another menu like regions i think....not trying to boot PT right now haha

  • I just got my pro tools 8 and it's totally amazing.

  • It just added notation capability?

  • Looking SO forward to the new MIDI editor and interface of Pro Tools 8 (I'm a relatively new Pro Tools user, so am not sentimental about the present 90's-looking graphics). Also the score editor, as I've been using Cubase for printing parts out - again with the need for multiple programs. Just hope it (score editor) holds up better than Logic's or Sonar's!

  • Finally the copied all the quality functions of Logic and we finally don't have to switch between three different softwares just to get one song perfectly done. I just want to have Melodyne build in to Tools. Then the prog would actually start to be worth money ;)

  • You want Melodyne? try Cubase 5.. . Cubase 5 has now the Yamaha pitch correction tool and a new dedicated audio tuning editor like Melodyne..

You still can pitch correct vocals in cubase without any plug-in (antares) etc.. all those tools are there. I was able to correct entonations in Cubase years ago... and we can change the pitch in real time too way back to SX

  • love all the people bitching about why they dont like pro tools, yet they are watching a video all about pro tools and they are just pissed cuz pro tools rapes all other progs ever

  • I'll miss the old pro tools interface.

  • I wont miss it at all.....been waiting for them to catch up for YEARS....as far as graphics.....and ProTools 8LE is going to ROCK!!!!

  • Me too

  • I was using Sonar 7.2 by Cakewalk and ProTools 8 has all the same features now. The ONLY advantage is that now the most used software in the world (ProTools) for professional recording has the features necessary to the things everyone else tried to do, but couldn't get the industry pros to buy. Cakewalk, Logic and Cubase must be pissing themselves dry by now.

  • Tools forever

Tools on a mac, you'll never go back

  • you guys are freaks. I've been using ProTools since it was called SoundTools. You must like toys....

  • The interface looks kinda magix music maker style. Really ugly. Would be better if they've kept the old one.

    Digidesign are fuckin' money grabin'

  • me too, its called Logic Pro, has 200 tracks

  • Yeah but PRO studios dont carry Logic.....and sorry but Logic sounds like CRAP compared to ProTools HD interfaces. Anyone REALLY working in the industry can hear the difference.

  • u guys r too late, i been using protools for 10 years and been thru to much bullshit. had enough. i moved on
