I disagree, social economic models are complex and not all people are as familiar with dynamics of them and how they directly impact the individual. If you would like a good book on the topic of how these models and changes have impacted people, "Development and Social Change" by McMichael is a good start.
Capitalism does works off of exploitation by legal policies and overall cost externalization.
Why should college be paid for? Because education is what gave America the competitive advantage. America's novel approach to give everyone the right to a high school education set us apart from other nations. Now, the bar is raised. High school is no longer enough. At the same time health care costs and tuition costs (because of lack of state funding) have dramatically increased. So, do you love your country and the future or your money? I'm happy to pay more to help out (120K income).

If you would like a good book on the topic of how these models and changes have impacted people, "Development and Social Change" by McMichael is a good start.
Capitalism does works off of exploitation by legal policies and overall cost externalization.

Why should college be paid for? Because education is what gave America the competitive advantage. America's novel approach to give everyone the right to a high school education set us apart from other nations. Now, the bar is raised. High school is no longer enough. At the same time health care costs and tuition costs (because of lack of state funding) have dramatically increased. So, do you love your country and the future or your money? I'm happy to pay more to help out (120K income).

While on the surface, this seems very logical, pull yourself up by your bootstraps, etc. the US is losing out. I went to public university and borrowed money which was paid back. Times are different today. Less and less are able to attend a university while at the same time jobs more and more require college educated graduates. Unless we fix this, somehow, globalization will kill us.
