Delafoo, knows. I'm from Mississippi and went to school at UofWyo for 4 years. The conditions of this video ain't nothin', white out with mile markers as your guide means you're in the shit. NO FUN...glad I was able to stay alive. And yeah, I-80 doesn't close until there's at least more than 3+ inches of snowfall...
I've been on 80 headed west near Elk Mountain and couldn't see the end of the hood. Had to drive on the rumble strips to get out. didn't dare stop, someone may rearend you.
Its so cute how everyone thinks those are bad road conditions. When it's pure ice, completely white, and you only know you're on the road because of the mileposts, then tell me 'bout the 'bad conditions'. BTW, the state of Wyomning is under federal mandate to keep I-80 open as long as possible due to commerce. It usualy takes a few winter related deaths for them to temporarily close it due to bad conditions.
Nice scenery! I'll be driving that route early next summer to see some of my college friends who live in Wyoming but haven't seen since we graduated from NDSU in Fargo.
6% upkline grade to Chenyenne, I remember at 19 going up that valley right before Cheyenne truckers hitting 4 way flashers going up those hills. Im glad did not drive it in snow time it be hell.
Nice Video Roland! Always glad to see your journeys on video! Snow or no snow, I do kind of miss being out there at times! Wyoming is probably my most favorite state to drive in! Especially when off the beaten path! I'll be out there in Sept.07 to visit the many hiostoric sites such as Independence Rock, Martin's Cove etc etc.! A truely great place to visit!
I was on that road often growing up driving from Illinois to Centennial, wyoming. It is a nice drive, but if you REALLY want to see wyoming get off I80 and get on the smaller highways.
it's nice to go down this highway from portland, oregon, where i now go to college. i miss it! i used to listen to that song while driving on that road too!
Drove through wyoming a few days ago on my way back east, road was closed in laramie at the 316 post. had to lay over for a few hours.
