I was also there that night, and I agree - the Barca team that night were the dirtiest I ever saw at VP. They were an absolute disgrace to their shirt and their club. The goalkeeper should have been arrested, let alone sent off. Still, at least the best team won, and it was certainly a night to remember.

Thanks for posting this. I was at the game and have not seen a dirtier match at Villa Park. Barcelona just tried to kick us off the pitch.

Withe was getting kicked all game but got his own back as Shaw scored.

Their goalie was a nutter and Cowans was lucky not to get a serious injury when the keeper kicked him into the back of the net after the penalty. Unbelievable stuff.
